Being steel, it is easier for vendors to run a magnet over a bag (or roll of coins), extract the more expensive steel pennies for separate sale, and then, we can hope, admit that the bag was searched.
About 2 years ago I ordered from CoinExchangeNewYork a "Bag Of 500 1C Lincoln Wheat Pennies 1909 - 1958 (Includes Steels & Indian Cents)" which at this time is $46.99 (about what I paid if I recall correctly; bag was heavy, I had to sign for it, USPS screwed up delivery so it was 2 days later but otherwise in fine shape). It had maybe 10 steel pennies and 10 Indian Head, many teens, 20s, 30s, and it was like it was unsearched... I also bought a bag of what turned out to be searched pennies from my LCS and it was mostly 40s and 50s (i.e., kind of boring and disappointing, but I was young and careless). Were I still into penny collecting, I'd go with CENY again, though my LCS does sell bags of Indian Head pennies, too... but these days I'm much more interested in silver. 😊🤩
Steele is in nice condition for its age, Christian, as is the 1909. Merc is very nice as well. I always like to find silver in pocket change. Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍
My rule of thumb for buying online is that any "unsearched" roll is staged, all estate sales/grab bags are scams, and any unslabbed Morgan listed as proof-like is bogus. That being said, that roll wasn't terrible at $11.
I had ordered an "unsearched" roll from eBay last year and I was really excited, cause in all the pictures they looked like they were all really old wrappers.. When I received my roll it was a big disappointment to see a new nickel roll with all common dates😔
@Antek will remember and save’em as good, trustworthy sellers, not like some sellers that put IHP or MCD on the ends. They just simply can’t be trusted.
AWESOME 1887 INDIAN HEAD CENT AND THE SILVER MERCURY DIME IS SO FANTASTIK THIS FINDS.THANK YOU DEAR CHRISTIAN FROM TREASURE TOWN COINS,ITS SO GLAD CONTINUING EVERY WEEK WITH YOUR GREAT TALENT IN COIN COLLECTING SINCERELY YOU ARE A CHAMPION🏆🥇🏅🎖🏆🏅🎖🥇🏆❤
43s were steel, not "zinc plated" the copper was needed for ammunition.
STEELIES are 99% steel with a thin layer of zinc.
@@davidztog9011 I see, so galvanized steel. That would explain why they can still be found not totally corroded.

Good point.

Cool! Thanks for sharing!!
I bought maybe a couple of rolls. Not an amazing deal but still fun.
Great video!!
Good variety, but I doubt unsearched.

Spot on!
Couldn’t agree more
I agree! It's fun for me to open em up from time to time though for a cool vid.
@@TreasureTownCoins $11 is a fair price for that roll. $2 for the Merc and $9 for 49 Wheat and Indian pennies, that's not bad.
Thanks for sharing ... some good dates but not worth the money. Good lesson for all of us.
True!
Love to watch the penny roll hunt videos! Especially the older ones like this! Keep them coming!!
Have a GREAT Day!!!
Thanks so much Shane!
That’s new paper it’s wrapped in also
Yeah - bummer.
If it was unsearched how would it have a dime on the end
This was recorded on New Year's Day? Took a while for this to be uploaded, huh?
What ya gotta do when you go off to college!!
Was that a die crack on the reverse of the 43 steel cent? Looked like there was something running from the O in ONE up to the E in
E Pluribus
Midwest Coin Hunter I think so!
Will go back and check!
RaGe Fakey Antek
I hope it was, that would be a cool find!
Midwest Coin Hunter for sure

Yeah - that's a bummer (and a common experience for a lot of people).
Unsearched? Maybe by you until you opened it...
You might be right!
Could Of Got Most Of Them If Not All Of Them In Penny Roll Hunting !!!
Agreed!
Christian my young friend , thank you for clarifying the not so good investment and showing your collection. God bless y'all.
Thanks so much!
The roll is a modern roll, so for sure its been gone through.
You should do more hunt's like this. Its fun. 😀
I agree! Fun to just check what's out there.
I have a notion to buy a bunch of these just so I can leave bad feedback for them!🔥🔥
Fiat Destroyer what if u find the 1% that isn’t a scam and you get good finds?

If you found a mule cent 1959 wheat would you count it as a wheat penny for the hunt? Lol
I think so! Probably wouldn't be the first thing I was thinking about though hahaha
