No 🤢 🤮
You can try horse meat/sausages in Kazakhstan plus in tatarstan within Russia )
you asked if we would be "game enough to try horsemeat"... unequivocally NO.
However, where my family comes from, they eat cod tongues salted, dipped in flour and pan fried until golden. Even this I say NO.
Russell great show.
Absolutely yes to horse meat
It’s really cool to see a supermarket from Uzbekistan. Thanks for showing us. 👍
My pleasure! I was only there for 3 days, I really enjoyed my short time there.
Outstanding tour of the supermarket in Uzbekistan.
Thanks Ken.
In Uzbekistan they have tea shops were you can buy various teas. Uzbekistan supermarkets are similar to the U.S., crowded and noisy 😂 In Russia the shoppers were fairly quiet.
Yes! The first thing I noticed when I started watching is noise.
South is south everywhere 😂
Magnum is a supermarket chain from Kazakhstan. Two years ago this network entered the Uzbekistan market
Very impressed. Spacious, clean plenty of choices according to me. Buscuits by weight is really smart. We dont have ot here, Thanks Russell.🥰🙏
I love the idea of biscuits by weight also. Plus, they work out cheaper than branded packaged biscuits also.
Omg.. I can't wait for the next video from the bazaar!😋😛
Coming soon!
Thanks! For the videos ! Road to 500k🎉🎉
@devontaofwg Thank you so much Deven. I really appreciate the Super Thanks you left on the video. The road to 500k. Wow, I haven't thought that far ahead. Let's do it!!
@@TravellingwithRussellGood luck🎉🎉🎉
Uzbekistan is such new vibe to me, i went there a year ago.
Russell, it is EAST! You HAVE to visit the farmer's market. The eastern tradition is to buy meats and produce at the market.
I am going to have a video of the Bizaar very soon on the channel. IT was mind blowing the amount of food they had for sale inside.
@@TravellingwithRussell EAT some good there- they say it's incredible.
Meats they killed?
Welcome to Uzbekistan 🇺🇿❤️
okay im jealous now, i really wanna go to Uzbekistan, i have made Plov two times, and i really wanna try it in Uzbekistan at some point.
I posted a couple of pictures on my Telegram of the restaurant I went to, to eat Plov. It was so interesting to see the huge cauldrons they were making it in. t.me/travellingwithrussell/2275
Nice video and super information and interesting!
Thank you again!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks !!
Welcome to Uzbekistan
Greetings from quite warm Canada, we saw robins yesterday and people wearing shorts.....another great video Russell, love your channel ❤
Their local bread is superb!
It really is !!
Thank you for again some great insight.
My pleasure!
The Uzbeks seem to be a very friendly people! Loved seeing the different products for sale in Uzbekistan.
They were very friendly over the 3 days I was there.
I doubt.
We liked the video,✨👍✨ and we are waiting for the video with Uzbekistan bazaar 🤗👌
Soon. ))) Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
900th like is mine! Thanks Russell for the video! Very informative as usual!
Awesome, thank you!
super cool, thx for making this vid
No worries.
Awesome
Thank you. ))
I never knew the frozen food section was so different than ours in Canada, its neat to see that all those markets always have cheap fresh bread too! Horse meat a bit of culture shock 😮😂❤
All of the fresh bread is all made right in the store, so it's much easier to create lower prices that way.
The first time I was in Canada I had culture shock from seeing that you guys sell milk in bags. BTW, my favorite Canadian store is the giant tiger.
Here in the st Louis area we have plastic shopping carts also they are trying new plastic shopping carts where you can check out from the shopping cart it's something new they are starting in a few grocery stores here, the new carts allows you too shop then pay at your cart with your debt/credit card does any one else have that
The local market is called schnucks
Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 You’re a supermarket expert. Uzbekistan shoppers seem to be a lot more interactive and happier than they were in Russia.
😂
@ytr8989 I met and chatted to so many friendly locals.
Welcome to my country, hope you like Tashkent
It was amazing. I also went to the football there. ua-cam.com/video/Sfx2P59wUYU/v-deo.html
Welcome to Uzbekistan! Glad to see you here
It’s even better than Swedish markets where i live in now. I have lived in Uzbekistan than in Moscow and used to go to supermarkets and buy some tasty and fresh cooked healthy meals. But in Sweden not you can buy only frozen food 😢and burgeers or ham salami and snacks 😢😂
Some great footage Russell.
Cheers.
@@TravellingwithRussell kep up the great content.
So much fun to see. Thank you. Wish some of our stores would watch and maybe 🤔
You are so welcome!
Nice. Love it.
Thanks!
Amazing how clean this store is...
According to typical customer behavior in all ex-Soviet countries located on the south , supermarkets are for rich people and foreigners. Locals buy food on the bazaars, because most of food are local, fresh and have good quality, even selling without pretty packaging. They use supermarkets only for industrial products, such as washing powders and personal care items, that's reflected on the shelves.
I also noticed on Russian titles on all signs, under the Uzbek ones, even though Russian is not official language in Uzbekistan.
Wonderful video
You always make wonderful video reports.
Thank you! Cheers. I really appreciate the kind words. !!!!
Good one Russel....Im a Russian living in the US and that was a super informative and interesting video. I grew up with a lot of Uzbek Jews here in NYC and its interesting what the life is like over there now... a lot of signs are still in Russian???? lol really???... Скидка (sale) is everywhere
I love these videos. It truly shows that no matter where you go in the world, there may be differences, but we are all the same.
People still buy candy, catfood, cleaning supplies, vegetables etc...
and how many of those shoppers in the store have the same worries we all share?
I live in Florida but have never noticed these cookies. My budget is so tight I usually don’t go down the snack isle but will look into it and get back to you
I am curious if they exist in Florida or not.
love from italy
actually this supermarket Magnum is a well known Kazakhstan chain of supermarkets, they seem to have very recently entered Uzbekistan market which might explain the small number of visitors, limited variety of goods and yet not that familiar to the locals, I see quite many KZ products on the shelves

I had a great few day visiting Tashkent. ))
Thanks for the video Russell. We say shopping trolley 🛒
Right, the same in Australia.
I think this seems stocked like the typical grocery stores where I live (interior British Columbia, city of about 100,000). A big difference is that this store has laundry powder! And Persil, which I have read is good for hard water. Hard to find any laundry detergent that is unscented, and they are always liquid. Thanks for the tour!
Been hoping for a St Petersburg vid from you!
Oh! Tashkent, were I was born and grew up!!! Now I live in Moscow 😊. Great tour , Russel! But, when visiting Asia, it is better to visit farmers'' markets.
Never heard of Florida cookies here in the USA
A bit of artistic license perhaps.
I was at the Chorsu Bazaar.
@@TravellingwithRussellChorsu is awsome also. It would be great if you indicated the price in USD at the current rate.
There was a coffee brand JUM, biggest coffee roaster in Uzbekistan.
Magnum is little known even for citizens! It would be much more useful to check and compare with the local retail chains like Korzinka or Makro
I didn't have time to get to a Korzinka store. I will have a Corsu Bizaar video coming up soon though.
Ok kit kat...i used to buy it when i was high as a kid sometimes even in Russia in the early 90s... More often i went for Bounty tho... Its Twinkies what i miss the most :( And Baltika beer
I'm a Boomer and I saw newspaper ads for horse in the USA. Late 1940 early '50 archives have them One read"Sure I use horse meat more and more..." spoken by mom-at-the-range w/ spatula
It's very much a normal part of life in Uzbekistan to have Horse, more so in a Salami type meat.
Love all your videos but your supermarket videos better.
Wow, Thank you.
Hey Russell i would love to see some videos about everday typical Russian life. Nothing dramatic or special, but kind of like the everday daily grind. For example, do Russians get up for church on Sunday mornings and go out for breakfast after church? Stuff like that...
If there is no shortage in a country then the people should support the leader.
They do. You mean here in Tashkent.
As for KitKat, I think it was never too popular in Russia. It has always been considered cheap, worse-than-your-average-candy-bar confectionary. Partly because it has wafers which make it light.
Oh, that reminds me.
"Mars" once had an ad for its Milky Way bars. They put the bars into milk and said that the bars were so light they could float in milk!
But in Russia, everyone knows what floats well: it's shit. There's an old saying, "shit doesn't drown". So Milky Way was not too popular either...
Hope you got to see your friend Konstantin while you were there.
Russell, what the heck are you doing in Uzbekistan mate, Great Video by the way.
I find it kinda funny how there's like only 5 cucumbers, but like 10000 bottles of vegetable/sunflower oil
It seems to me it would be interesting to compare printed prices on the shelves with the same prices on the receipt received from the cashier after payment. Let's buy 3-5 items in a Russian supermarket and compare final prices and total amount. I mean that in Russian stores we can see final amounts to pay whout value added tax or other additional taxes which a cashier must add in many other countries. It makes possible to compare prices correct between countrys.
Hi Russell! What are you doing in Uzbekistan?😂 This is my second homeland, or rather first. I was burn in Uzbekistan and know living in Moscow. It's a great you are there😊. Yes, Pepsi is a national drink there 😅. Its often advertised on TV and washed down with many meals. I often fly to Tashkent to visit my parents. And I know how to get around sanctions.😂 First of all I drink many Pepsi and Coca-Cola😅. Tashkent is very nice in summer, spring and autumn. Be sure to try real Uzbek plov (pilaf). Great visit 👍.
I was there to watch a football game. Australia vs. Uzbekistan. It was a qualifying game for the Olympics. I did a vlog type video about it. Maybe you didn't see it yet. ua-cam.com/video/Sfx2P59wUYU/v-deo.html
The climate in Uzbekistan is much warmer than in central Russia, strange that not many fruit & vegetables available in the shop.
The answer is simple... Everyone buys fruits and vegetables at the bazars (markets).... They are tastier and cheaper there....
hi RUSSELL,, from QC CANADA,,,,nice that we can have an idea of what it,looks like in various parts and places in RUSSIA,,on thing that is predominent,is the cleanlyness of most of these places,if not all ,loll,, and in those markets we can recongnise a lot of product we consumme here,,i love it,,take care,,,😊✌ho !that is not in RUSSIA this time loll, very cool and nice and clean there too,,,
I don't know how many other people are like me but I don't knowingly buy any product from any company that has Vanguard and/or Blackrock as a major shareholder.
And what about hospitality of people, what about this tradition ❤❤❤it is great, huge tradition to meet the person with warmth in heart, table, fruits, wine 🍷 or their tradition drinks
Will we see next video about how they meet the guest?
Will be the next video what tradition drinks they have?
I can't find peanut butter in the supermarkets of Uzbekistan.
Never heard of the brand Florida Cookies 🍪
Me too, until I saw them.
At Magnit you can buy cookies by weight. And on a side note, I hope you could show us some of the streets in Tashkent, could be intresting.
I did visit one of the big food markets, that will be in a later video.
It's Verniy that sells these, not Magnit, just realized that
I only really care of the the large Kit Kat’s, you know the thicker ones. I don’t eat them that often.
You mean the chunky kit kats.
They probably only put enough stock to sell and then restock as needed. In Russia the shelves were overstocked. Either overkill or people not buying or just don’t have the staff to keep replenishing the shelves.
It's interesting with this store. It did have everything and anything you needed. For sure though people shop in the local markets for fruits and vegetables.
In the southern republics, most people buy food at street markets, where everything is fresh. They buy household chemicals or household goods in stores))
Nothing like a good KitKat! Were some of the shelves less full due to the time of day?
I am not really sure. Maybe, a lot depends on the delivery schedule of the trucks.
are you wearing Tuckers jacket!
I bought this back in November, when I went home to Australia. It's the first time i wore it there in Tashkent, due to the slightly warmer weather.
Biscuits by weight is a good idea.
A great idea. No need to buy a big packet you might not finish.
Ciastka na wagę, w ten sposób kupować można ciastka w Polsce w marketach na przykład Carrefour
Russell PLOV is a must for you to try at the BAZAR!
I went to the National Plov Centre and tried it there. It was amazing. I had the sweet one, I wasn't game for the spicy version.
@@TravellingwithRussellno,just BAZAR!))

Cookies by weght were available in Auchan in Russia 7-10 year ago.
But Nov 2, 2015 «

@@TravellingwithRussell
Does Uzbekistan have less grocery stores?
Based on what I see, the store is "empty" only in places where the items don't last long, like vegetables and milk. I think they either don't sell lots or want to keep it fresh. PepsiCo is definitely making bank off all the space they have in that store. Nice seeing another countries store.
Dude, there's more to life than supermarkets. 90% of your videos from supermarkets. Do you have any other interests or concerns?
It was always going to be a big part of the channel, as I worked in them back in Australia. I do other videos on the channel also. I was recently on an electric river tram. ua-cam.com/video/g9iQCbDG_68/v-deo.html
Oh, I was not in Uzbekistan 😊
Until, last weekend, neither had I.
How does it feel to be in a free country?
Something about this store just feels different from all the other stores you've shown us. I just can't figure out why I feel that way but it just doesn't feel welcoming.
