I'm not sure I've learnt anything part but I sure miss your video's part and Miss Ivy too, good to see you again friend and thank you for the video Blake and as always I've hit the like button for you.🙂🐕👍
Blake, good to hear from you. You can't blame the winch!!!! The problem is that little bumper is made for a little winch!!! Harbor Freight makes a lot of bad items but that winch is a great winch for the price!!! Stay safe and God bless you!!!!! Eddy
I've got a 1997 F-350 XLT CC 4x4 with a Ranch Hand Legacy package on it. Was thinking of buying a removable cradle to mount in my front built in receiver hitch, and put this winch on that cradle.
Definitely can't blame the winch. Bad bumper design. I have had several pro bumpers, none of which had the top piece. Had one that required bumper removal to install the winch, but all allowed a tall winch.
I don’t think it’s Harbor Freight’s fault. I think it’s the person who bought the bumper without checking measurements for the winch. Not trying to be rude. Should have bought a 8k winch by the looks of it.
Thank you for the video Blake. Been a bit and you have been missed. Seems the less expensive winch options turned to be less space conservative for the electronics. Less expensive seems to imply less $s spent on controls. May need to buy a backup controller since it functions as both wired and wireless. Like you stated, eould be unfortunate for it to fail when needed. Take care.
The Harbor Freight Badlands is basically a direct copy of a warn winch design they all are standard size and mounting pattern so you can’t really blame Harbor freight because if you would’ve bought a different 12,000 pound winch of any other brand they wouldn’t fit either the problem is the bumper wasn’t designed for that big of a winch I had buckstop build my bumper and my Badlands 12,000 pound winch perfectly mounted right in no problem.
As others have mentioned, it is great to see your videos. I've always liked them.
It's great to see your videos again!

Well you are trying to shove a 12k winch in a bumper that was probably designed for a smaller 8k winch
Remember, it's only a temporary fix unless it works!
I’ve missed my WYO fix😊
We call them bull bars or roo bars in Australia. Great to see you again Blake.

Well,
Waterproofing is king here.
The box is a good idea if it’s air tight.
Otherwise it will sweat inside and short out.
Why. Don’t you mount the box and components in the box with the cables then mount the winch and connect the cables

I don’t think it’s anyone’s “fault”, just pointing out some things I learned in the process.
How do mate, long time no video.

Several other winch makers, Warn included have smaller solenoid boxes that will fit without modification.
Use decent amount of thick grease on self tappers, when they will be left to elements. This makes rusting away slow at least :>
Mount the box with carriage bolts. Drill a couple holes in the bumper. Put a dab of silicone on the holes.
The web site says 10,000lb winch is the largest you can install.
It also says any winch needs the solenoid box relocated.
Could have used rubberized electrical tape on the contacts?
For sure pack wired remote full of grease, those will fail otherwise D:
How's the hay crop in Wyoming this year ??
A decent local body shop might have some ideas.
cool video
Don't blame the winch blame ur self u order it an didn't think my. Just saying
Did I blame the winch?
