  • Check out the latest addition to our scoring system: Duckpin/Candle scoring. If you own a Duckpin or Candlepin center and are considering an upgrade to your scoring system, we'd LOVE to hear from you.
We are also looking for developers who are considering opening any type of entertainment center which features Duckpins. We have begun development on a free fall Duckpin pinsetter. Free fall is the way to go with Duckpins. You'll be untangling strings all night long using one of those string machines.
For anyone who wants it, we can also include Duckpin scoring as an option on our mini lanes.

I’m pretty sure you probably know this, but Duckpin Bowling was actually first invented back in the late 1890s-early 1900s in Baltimore, Maryland. Duckpin Bowling is the perfect game to play across the USA East Coast. The very first Duckpin Bowling Alley is in Baltimore, and Maryland has really nice Duckpin Bowling Alleys around, and some of them (example, Turners Dual Lanes and Turners Southside Bowl in Hagerstown, MD) have Tenpin and Duckpin combined. I’ve started doing Duckpin Bowling since 2007. Good ol’ history about when Duckpin Bowling was first invented.

Thanks for adding this. I personally really have enjoyed Duckpin the could of times I bowled it. I really hope it grows. We have been approached by parties wanting us to develop a new freefall Duckpin pinsetter. We are very interested in doing this as the string machines really detract from the game. We are looking for someone who is in early stage planning for a center, so that we can work with them to bring a freefall pinsetter to the market.

Here in the Philippines, majority of Duckpin Bowling Centers (some are closing) are still around til this day but most of them are Pinboys, there are few with Sherman Pinsetters but they’re struggling of getting parts like in my hometown that a 44 Lane Duckpin Bowling Center (which is the Largest Duckpin Bowling Center in the Philippines) shuts down Lanes 31-44 for Pinsetter Parts.

What kind of parts do they need? If you know someone who is looking for parts, have them contact me. I may be able to help.

I remember bowling duckpins when visiting relatives in the Philippines as a kid. A lot of fun and more approachable than tenpins with that heavy ball. I never knew about the scoring difference because I never knocked down all ten pins in a frame.

@@Liggie55821. That’s because Duckpins were the first type of Bowling that reaches in the Philippines before Tenpins had come over. It is fun and I wish America Duckpin Bowlers knows that Duckpins is still alive here. Plus with PinBoys for Duckpins here, it gives tons of poor people to have a chance to get income a bit by just setting pins manually and also extends the Duckpin Bowling Business.

    i always thought the third ball displayed whatever the third ball score was...for example a 3rd ball "spare" would show say 7, 2, 1 for ball 1 a 7 ball 2 a 2 and ball 3 a 1

Canadian 5 pin bowling is even more different. The head pin is worth 5, the middle pin on each side is worth 3, and the corner pins are worth 2, for a total of 15 and a perfect game is 450. It uses the same 3 ball system per frame.

I may consider adding a 5-pin mode when I get some time. Keep checking back for videos. It will be a while though if it does happen.

If anyone made it possible to spread the game of candlepin or duckpin it would definitely be YOU. I live in Minnesota and I've always wanted to play candlepin, duckpin, or any other game besides garbage tenpin

You should make duckpin freefall pinsetters when you can! Might help duckpin grow again!

I have spoken to people interested in a duckpin setter. We need a committed buyer before we develop the machine. To date, no one has stepped forward.

Fundamentally there is nothing special about a duckpin pinsetter, vs a free fall ten pin setter. Sherman’s design was overly complicated so that it could cycle quickly and not infringe on AMF, Brunswick Bowl-Mor patents.
The logical design is to copy a bowl-mor pinsetter/chute deck. Since that has the least moving parts.

    People will strongly hate 9 - 0.... 9 - 1 or 9 0 1!
