You know, now that I think about it, kids should build a tiny home. As long as they have a place to do it. How wonderful it would be for a child to own their own home before the age of 18. Slap it on wheels and they would be good to go. It could be their project for carpentry class to for some. Better than a tree house, unless they build one to live in until they decide to sell. It's so hard for many to buy a home. To rent is super expensive now to. God forbid your credit is bad or just ok. Owning a tiny home with solar if they can with propane heating, the bills would be so cheap. Depending on where the ùnit is reñt for land cam be low or high. Buying land should be easy. Compost potty then all there is, is grey water, which can be used to water plants and grass. As long as they use in toxic biodegradable soaps. I feel this is a great idea for kids. They ca learn about building, electric plumbing, heating etc. What a great way to teach about budgets, planning saving money for a garden, paint to build a deck etc. Schools should look into this as a project for kids. Many people would donate building materials, windows, sinks, potties and such.
I love the first house, the smart boy did a beautiful job. I love that his family got involved in the work. This is the house I would be happy to live in.
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel like I could live there after my children moved out. Being someone that suffers from certain mental illnesses I believe such limited space is therapeutic and encourages a healthier, simpler lifestyle that is far more sustainable than similarly equipped, classic homes that value space and storage over simplicity and limited space. I believe such homes are the future.
No, you wouldn't be "happy" to live in it, I don't think you would last a year let alone a decade. Seriously, your know you are just "romanticising" the idea of living in it, flatulence alone would have you outside in a second, it would have an extension on it as soon as you got tired of shittin in the woods.
@Nicolas Rose Your response makes me feel like that is how your outcome would be if you had to live in it. What makes you an expert on the "romantacising" idea part? There is an unusual home based on octagons in Farmington, CT. I only saw it once. My good friends father was an architect and she invited me to her home for dinner. The father had designed his own home and every room was an octagon including the furniture. I didn’t venture into personal rooms like bedrooms but I imagine they had similar furniture (octagon shaped). I don’t know if the house is still there. I visited it back in the mid-1980s.
