How the hell can a band come back after 40 years and sound this good? From the beautiful, slightly dark, opening through to the joyous switch up and euphoric build of the song and the magic of those girls' voices together, this is classic vintage ABBA, up there with anything they did back in the day. It makes me smile, wanna dance, and cry at the same time. Many of us dream of going back to our youth......this gem of a song does that brilliantly, instantly. Loved watching your obvious pleasure in the track.....thanks!

Their Voyage gigs in London have now overpassed 1,3 million tickets and extented their residency till 2024.A tremendous commercial and critical success.Abba appeared in flesh in the premier getting photographed with their screaming fans outside the Arena in London.

When this was presented in 2nd Sept.'2021 it was together with 'I still have faith in you".First 2 new recordings after 40 years.We cried a river .it was very emotional for fans.Every single phrase in this song was a message to be decoded,a both a love song and a love letter to us fans.

As soon as I heard this song I knew straight away that the abba sound hadn’t gone away. They still sound as good today as they did 40 years ago . The magic is still there and their voices sound as good as they did then . And when you hear the two voices together it’s magical and to hear it at voyage is amazing. I loved this song as soon as I heard it

It's so sad that most American did not know that ABBA reunited at 40 years and made a new Album. The Album went to number 1 in 16 countries and made number 2 in the US charts. Not bad for people in their middle 70's! Please react to the whole Album.

My fave song from that record. My take on this song is that it could be both a lovesong and also a message from the band to their fans to give them another chance (I'm not the one you knew - I'm now and then combined... ) And Agnetha still has a great voice!

I'm an entrenched prog rocker but when I first heard this I got tears in my eyes. And second time as well... those damn tears again.
Don't know how Abba does it. Sure I can hear the nuts and bolts... that nasty baseline, the key changes, the layers, the strings...., but there's also some fairy dust.

You should do a Voyage album reaction. There are some beautiful and very diverse songs on the record, all with the magic golden thread that defines the “ABBA sound.”

The big global news of this 21st century for the music world
is the return of the legendary Swedish pop quartet ABBA
to the recording studios after more than 35 years
(the last was "The day before you came" in 1982)
and the edition of new songs after 39 years
(the last was "Under attack" in 1982 too)
and a new album after almost 40 years
(the last was "The Visitors" in 1981)
Beyond that these three data are for the Guines Book of records
(I believe that No Group or Singer or Artist can come close to these incredible brands),
the most remarkable thing is How they returned, with what level of quality
And I must say that ABBA overcame all fears, doubts and expectations
Their return is shocking and his quality is still valid
"Don't shut me down" (2021)
it's another surprise from ABBA
A pop song was expected, but there were reservations and fears for what it could be
(and here I include doubts to the voices of the girls due to their age)
And we find a magnificent work
The beginning is with Agnetha's voice attacking with the pleasant company of the piano.
What Agnetha does in that introduction is anthology,
exquisite modulating and using different nuances with her mature voice.
Until Benny's signature piano glint (nod to their mega hit "Dancing Queen")
and ABBA's typical pop song is with us, with the fans, because the lyrics speak to us.
and Agnetha assumes that decoding of almost four decades
and gives us her beautiful voice as the strings grow
and lead to a memorable chorus with Frida reliving the historic third voice of ABBA
But it doesn't end there, the second part adds hooks and a xylophone is added to the bells
(a nod to the marimba in "Mamma Mía"),
and the pre-chorus has more force with Agnetha and Frida and the violins
anticipate the elevation to a chorus triumphant final anthology reminiscent of their greatest hits
And it ends, like the begining, with a soft and sweet Agnetha voice and piano melody (nod to "Thank you for the music", as the begin)

now we have the new album "Voyage" since last November 2021,
and the new ABBA Concert in the new ABBA Arena at London since last May 2022

This is an absolutely superb song, Sue, and is right up there with their best stuff .. It's my top favourite from the "Voyage" album, followed in second place by "No Doubt About It", which is a very catchy rocker with Frida on lead vocals ..I remember you saying you wanted to hear some more of ABBA's rockier numbers, so this would be an great song to react to next from "Voyage" .. Anni-Frid aka Frida or Annie is the auburn haired girl who married Benny the pianist with the beard. Agnetha was the blonde who was married to Bjorn the guitarist. That's ABBA, the initials in their first names. Unfortunately the two couples did not get back together. They were both together a long time to bad. At least they got together for this new album. Did you hear they have avatar concerts aka abbatars lol . Soo real. They built a special arena for it. Sold out for many months in advance. I want to see it so bad but just in London now

I simply adore their Voyage album. I do notice that some fans are critical and criticize some of the side B songs in this album but I guess it all boils down to whether or not one appreciate their current mature sound and/or the realism and down to earth approach to their lyrics.
As for myself (and thousands, no, millions others-ABBA sold 2.5 millions physical copies of Voyage within 1 year last year, second only to Adele's album 30), we love and adore the whole album very much and feel that they have not lost the magic at all ❤

Although their comeback seems to be short-lived, it was a huge success, but their music seems to be stuck in the 70's. They do still sound great. Agnetha said they probably won't make more albums.

The worst song on the album is only OK. ALL the other songs are wonderfull. If you haven't heard the entire album, you should. A and A's voices have matured (duh! they are in their 70s) but they are good on the songs which are also matured. This is not a buble gum dance album. It's more in the ballad genre.
