@@stephenhall9456 I gig with a new company dropped a gig on my lap and they were using this console. So I just watched a lot of tutorials online to familiarize myself with the console. Thats it 😅
We have a QL1 and I called Yamaha Tech Support and they basically told me to call the dealer. They were of no help. I have watched video after video and I have no idea of what the detailed menu path is to select the dante path to the Rio Stage Box and how to rout that into the mixer, and then the varios paths to the outputs. Has Yamaha ever actually tested with new users to see if these training materials actually get new users functioning? The trainers toss out technical terms without defining them or showing the complete logical path from Connecting with dante, selecting Dante as the input, then logically connecting a source on dante into the board and fader then routing that to an output. Its broken across 25 videos and I never get the details of the logic of this path. I am extremely dissatisfied with your Training materials and your Tech Support. The board may be fantastic but your training materials are not helping me.
Is it just me or did he just do an overview of the console and then do it again with the smaller one? Everything he noted was obvious by the labels on the board but still not helpful at all as far as using it. He could have described the QL5 and then noted that the QL1 is the same but half. But noooooo, he just HAD to point out the same features as if we had never seen anything like that just a few minutes prior. Oh, are the sends on fader buttons the ones marked sends on fader. Are the eq and dynamics controlled where it say eq and dynamics? So the MIDI port is the odd one with two rows of pins, Dante is the one that looks like an XLR, and the ether on jacks are for your UA-cam hook up? Right? He notes that the other consoles are based on the digital snake, but not even say if these can be used with a digital snake. I’m sure it can be, but he didn’t say that. And he of course assumes we know ALL about the very SIMPLE networking nightmare known as Dante. Can I send Yamaha an invoice for wasting my time? It my policy.
What is a Mix, and What is a Matrix. Your trainer tosses out this term and doesn't define what it is, nor how it logically fits into the signal flow from the Input to the output. Your training is terrible.
Thank god for this video. I took up my first A2 gig in 1 week and I have exactly 0 experience with this console lol
how did you get on?

Maybe sometime we'll get a video of somebody actually working on one in a real environment.

Useless Video from a beginners stand point.
Yamaha training is terrible.
Useless in any world.
