As the episodes wain on, with a heavy heart I begin to see that Parnell wasn't as True and honourable to his country and those he portended to serve.
Time and again he sells out the best interests of the party and the people to succour his love interest.
If this historical drama is authentic in this regard, then my affections shift from Parnell, someone whom I had believed to have been a hapless victim of Cupid's arrow and a reluctant and minimal participant in this affair, to the plightof the desperate and impoverished Irish who had unknowingly placed all of their hopes and adoration on a self-serving, egotistical and ultimately deeply hypocritical man.
It was a far sadder breach of trust for the Irish in their desperate hour, than a moment of near-victory which I had believed it to have been.

Thank you for your perspective. I no longer have time or energy for collaborationism in disguise as solidarity. #gaza

Because this series was made when the whole field of sound for films was less developed than it is now in 2023, because the speech is spoken quickly and is sometimes dense with unfamiliar names, ideas, nuance, the closed captions become essential to following the story! And they are phenomenally dreadful! Quite fixable though, no?!
