So funny to see the mums and babies in the playground acting like it's totally normal that this man is slamming himself on the ramp over and over, You got it Jon!
Man, you are such an inspiration! I started skating at 31. Keep falling in the ramp all the time. You make me believe it is possible to rock eventually
Awesome video Jon. I started skating again a couple of years ago. I'm 50 next year and your videos and determination inspires me to push myself. I don't even know what half of these things called until I watch the vids and think thats what i just did haha. I like doing rock to fakie then getting into the backside 50-50. Ive been imaging reverting out of that but I'm terrified of attempting the move. I'm going try and follow your lead and get this fakie revert done. Wish me luck! Keep up the good work buddy.
Theres so many cool ramps over in England man, nearly all the ones in New Zealand got torn down (including bowls and vert ramps) and replaced with Plaza-styled skate parks. I started skating in the late 80s (my first board was a vision Gator) so I prefer bowls and ramps to street styled parks. I might have to start protesting soon. As far as I know there's only 1 left near me and its a 2 hour drive! I'm old now and in my 40s and dont enjoy the feeling of jumping down stairs (bad on the knees and ankles) or the feeling of the board hitting my shins trying to do flip tricks and stuff. I would be in heaven if I had a smooth little ramp like this near by.
Cracking work Jon. Loving the ballsy tricks. If you’re ever heading to Newport pop into No Comply before it’s too late you’ll get an empty skatepark at the moment
Great jon! you are really inspiring! I started skating again at the age of 30 after 12 years. If one day you come to Milan, I will be happy to have a bowl sesh with you!
I can see myself trying these in a baby ramp, any slightly bigger transition would get very emotional (and by baby ramp I mean something even smaller than the one you skate in that video :D)
Mate, so amazing! I've just learned switch axle drops and then further a regular axle stall up, switch axle in, which is similar to this, but actual lifting the (switch) nose and dropping in instead of sliding/reverting in. Have you done those, switch BS axle stalls or drop-ins? I've gotta try this revert next, but I'm assuming being able to commit to the switch axle drop could help committing with the revert as well, while the sliding is a thing I'm not good and nor a fan of... :) Thanks for your continued inspiration-giving Jon!
Ooooh I felt a couple of those slams fella 😮 Well done for persisting and getting it though. Lack of commitment and fear of breaking something is really holding me back lately.
@@JonBishopSkate Every time! And fear of a twisted ankle is high on that list. I wrecked mine stepping off a Rock n Roll 18 months ago and haven't had the bottle to try another since 😖
@@JonBishopSkate Ouch! I'm currently having fun just pumping and kick turning on a 6ft/5ft half pipe at my local indoor place and every time I hit the 5ft spine fakie I'm thinking "I reckon I could get a half cab 360 rock n roll on this"... But I'm yet to have the nerve. I just picture a broken 58 year old on the flat bottom 😆
@@JonBishopSkate I've always struggled with revert tricks, it's getting your front wheels back over the coping to go back fakie. It's a really scary feeling.
Quite painful to watch the falls, but man o man the persistence is fricking inspiring. Way to go, always motivating to watch keep up the good work and keep the skate videos coming!
As someone in their late 40s just starting skateboarding, your videos like this really helps. It's not just highlights and high fives, I can definitely related to your vids showing all the bruises and pains along the way. Thanks for explaining your thought process along the way as well. BTW, any particular reason going back to the old Anderson deck?
Many thanks for tuning in Dude! Just Finding the 15 inch wheelbase feels good again ?? Still using the egg a fair bit, but having a little tinker for some reason??
Jon, Another great video! Noticed you don’t have riser pads but your wheels look pretty big. What size are they and do you get wheel bite? I also have the same Anderson board but need risers for my 60mm dragons. Thanks!
Inspirational commitment to the battle Jon! Great progress. Mini Logo 8.75s? I've been raving to folks about how good mine feel but I discovered (at concrete waves) that the pencil thin hanger is very sensitive to coping gouges and grooves. Impromptu nose picks are go😂
Good work mate! Do you think it would work better to get into a normal axle stall up on the deck and then slide to your heelside before dropping back in?
Nice work! What pads are you using? Are you also using ankle braces? Kinda looks like it. Which ones do you use? Keep up the great work & progress. You are truly inspiring people to push further and commit!
Hey dude, many thanks for tuning in, the pads are the killer 187 pro ones I use on the vert ramp. A bit overkill, but I don’t have any others. The ankle guards are just standard BMX ones. they don’t really offer much support. They just help to prevent the bruising caused by the board hitting the Achilles.
0 on 10 for the tip. Never lock a 50 50 in the the trany on both heel weel this is stupid dagerous . Get on top of it and lock it cross front weel toe and back weel heel. And its not a nollie or switch drop in its feaky. Lift your front weel and get out on your back foot. Feeble to fakie is a good way to figure it out . Enjoy yous skating
Many thanks for the input. Many skaters lock both heel side wheels, especially on vert? All of the guys I have seen do 5050 to Fakie do it this way? There are no tips in this video, just my reflections on my process trying to learn.

Yeah, they never ask me if I’m okay 😂 I’m pretty sure they don’t notice I’m there ??

I’ve been battling with this for ages. Cheers for the tips

I loved the knee slide in the grass around 11.5min. 😂 Great job working it out Jon!
Ha, bit of a summer tumble 😂
Would’ve been miffed if it was wet
great video. This reminds me that I need to take a break from carving up the pool and get to work on my coping tricks.
Carving the pool is a lot of fun !!
Awesome commitment and dedication man!!😊
Nice progression, nice evolution, great tips.

Go for it !!

any thoughts on the impact of loose vs tight trucks on the lock-in and revert? Gonna try this one this weekend! Great stuff as always.
Nice one, good question dude, I run my trucks quite loose? I’d imagine it’s easier with trucks a touch on the tighter side though??
