OMGGGGGGG
The choreographer for THANKS said that if you look at the choreography line during DK's part at 1:22 and 2:26, the formation shifts to spell out T H X.
He said that people must have probably missed it because they were focused on the sign language aspect of the choreography.
If you think that you can't love Seventeen any more than you already did well think again because I fell in love with them all over again after realizing that not only did they used sign language to say thank you, they spelled it out for us in their choreography too.
no way
OMG i now can't unsee it thanks!!!!
Which part has the sign language?
Naem Surame when they are tapping their shoulders and at the end they double tap their hands at 2:29
I Cant see them spelling out THX wth their formation? Kindly enlighten me
Fun fact: The part where they tap their wrists twice (the pre-chorus) means 'Thanks' in Korean Sign Language. Soonyoung mentioned that he likes to incorporate parts of korean sign into their choreographies, they did it for Pretty U, Flower, and Home as well.

There are tons of amazing choreos in Kpop, but seriously this has to be the most synchronized, beautiful, graceful, and powerful thing I've ever seen like how is this even humanly possible
Hey! Stahb it! Ikr!
Well, its Seventeen we're talking about. 💓
Yes,,i am crying in blessing
I AGREE WITH YAH FAM!
I completely agree with you
*_the synchronization to till the end tho_*
I love how The8 spins his head at 2:47. This is my most fave SVT choreography and song. The dance looks easy. I tried it myself but damn, I couldn't do it right.
i was thinking this same thing! like how tf can a twirl of his head look so mesmerizing but svt tends to do that with whatever they do
Oh, my. That actually looks easy but it is very hard! This is also my favourite choreography, but 2:48 is actually super satisfying, anyone agree?
@@misq8n686 it really is amazing

Honestly, Seventeen has one of the best choreographies and dancers in all of kpop.
carat trash their vocals are pretty strong too
Just take out the "one of"
Ya you're right
I’d say more like the best. Indeed the best.
i will say THE BEST. fight me.
*_the choreography seems a special effect_*
They are a ilusion
0:45-0:51 the way they make use of having so many members to make such beautiful formations and transitions is insane, a lot off ppl may think many members is a disadvantage but for seventeen and their skill level its not, they make it work
I KNOW, I KEEP ON REVERSE THE VIDEO ON THAT PART BECAUSE IT'S WAY TOO ADDICTIVE
Some carats in the comment section : *They didn't get an award for this.*
Me : *They don't even need an award to show how talented they are and what an art this is.*
so true 👏🏻
award shows in korea like mama are not that trustworthy now, than they used to be. they based everything thru voting, it's like quantity over quality when we all know quality matter the most
@@anenthusiast4024 mama are a popularity thing now 😒
but im still sad because it truly deserved it
Well that year Oh my won in mama idk if I should be sad coz this didn't win or happy coz Seventeen won that year anyways
Imagine the things they have to do to get this synchronization...
“Ok so right here, make sure your right thumb is here” “your hair strand has to be at a 90 degree angle at the 0:53 second mark”
WATCHING SEVENTEEN DANCE IS SO SATISFYING
Remember guys. Hoshi and the rest of the performance team, along with a professional, choreographed this masterpiece of a performance. Woozi and the rest of the members helped produce the song and write the lyrics. Think about that and be in awe of Seventeen’s talent.
One thing I love (out of many) about Seventeen's dancing is that altough they have 13 members it never looks crowded. It's easy for that to happen with so many people on a stage especially if that stage has limited space. Yet they always look well organized & it's never messy. Hoshi choreographs in such a unique way. He utilizes every member so even when they're not singing or center they still create beautiful formations, even if it's something simple & not only that but it creates a wonderful atmosphere. Our boys are the really special. I've been a carat for close to three years & I'm still amazed at how talented they are. I'm so proud to be a carat bc I'm supporting 13 people who aren't just amazing but strive to become better. Is it humanly possible? I didn't think so but they somehow always come back better than before. I'm so grateful for their hard work & I feel blessed I got to see them transform over the years. I'll continue to support Seventeen. Can't wait to see what they have in store for the future.
This is still one of my favourite choreographies of Kpop. I mean holy shit, the amount of different parts that happen at the same time is madness. Take 0:44 for example, there are so many smaller groups doing different things, and the groups change on almost every move. It’s mesmerising to watch as a whole and really interesting to see what each individual member is doing, cause it’s basically all different timings and movements from each other. Must have been so difficult to choreograph and teach, let alone learn!
3:33 Ya'll notice that white feather!! This is beautiful😭❤️
looking at this from a professional dancers point of view their transitions (the in between moments between the steps) are incredibly clean and smooth. they also have so many different dynamics in their movement - sometimes they're soft, then sharp, then soft again. some other bg's tend to just dance hard and fast which is great, but its truly breathtaking to see svt's change in dynamics. not to mention the use of levels in their choreography - some stand whilst the others are on the floor. i understand its easier to create choreography like this with more dancers and it looks more amazing with more people, but a lot of credit goes to their actual ability. they really make me feel something when i watch them dance, the same way i feel when i watch a professional contemporary dance company or ballet company perform. i dont know who choreographed this but goddamn its truly beautiful
And the choreography has meanings. Like the part with "gomapda gomapda dogomapda" (DK's part ), wasn't it like the Korean sign language for "THANKS"? Genius. Whoever made it (though its probably the same person who choreographed DWC).
Hoshi creates the choreography’s:))
bangtansonyeondamn Hoshi, the member of seventeen itself choreographs this ..not only him,but with help of performance team(Jun,The8 and Dino)-unit in seventeen-and professional choreographer ..all choreographies including their songs they made, compose and produce themselves..seventeen is multi talented artist indeed💕
Seventeen do staccato movements well, and are good at not only giving energy, but controlling it as well. Not to mention them always doing different levels
You're right. It is much easier making a dance look good when their are more members because each movement looks 10x better than it would if a small group performed it. In saying that, to create choreography for so many members, is a talent in and of itself. It wont work just because you have the members. You gotta know what to do with them
I'm 4 years late replying to this but i agree 100%. They have the advantage of having many members so creating a variety of formations is easier. But if you don't have the talent you wouldn't know how to utilize it. Sometimes ppl would say ofc it would look nice when a large group of members danced in sync compared to a small group of members. But ppl often forgets that it takes a lot of teamwork and hardwork to get to their level of synchronisation. The fact that even the 'weakest' dancer can keep up and qualified to be a lead dancer for another group is amazing.
This choreo is so powerful and emotional what did we ever do to deserve such wonderful, perfect boys 😭

wow! that was beautiful
all of their choreographies have left me impressed, but none have truly awed me, taken my breath away, like this one has. it feels triumphant - there's a finality to it. it's absolutely spellbinding. as they dance, they are all part of one whole, interconnected in an almost inexplicable way. i am completely floored by this performance...
Mama just hand them their dance award for 2018 already. Like LOL IM NOT EVEN KIDDING. I like many kpop groups but SVT are kind of on a WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL when it comes to choreo and dance.

If Seventeen doesn't win anything for their choreography at the end of the year everyone is lying to themselves. That dance was beautiful.
You’ll know who to blame if they don’t win...Hint : *hiss* M * cough* Net
Put some respect on my bias's name the best dance performance category belongs to only SEVENTEEN

Equally. But it's up to us carats to make that effort. They have already done their part to give us this beautiful thanks. Now it's our turn. They spread that little by little there are people who see them and everyone agrees that they have a good performance. Reproduce the MV. : ')

1:35 TOO
And also 2:41
and 1:56
shit every part is SO COOL.
YOU FORGOT ABOUT 0:00 TO 3:53 . THAT'S HONESTLY THE COOLEST PART
DON'T FORGET THE SONG. *dies*
2:51 is just a really cool move and it's so in SYNC. like...i'm blown away and so proud
Anyone know if Junhui practiced ballet, contemporary dance or something besides piano, wushu and things like that *BECAUSE THE ESTHETICS OF THE MOVEMENTS OF THAT BOY IS INCREDIBLE* stop the video exactly in the 1:10 minute see his arms, his legs outstretched, his shoulders and the extension of his neck just WOW
and let's talk about the "thanks" MV, the part in which he is dancing alone in a kind of cafeteria the fall in that "fourth position" in a beautiful way and the slip he makes afterwards to get to the "souplesse", it is SUBTLE AND PRECIOUS IT IS SIMPLY ART OMG
All svt dances incredibly well and I say with confidence that you can't choose a "main dancer" because they are all incredibly good, I dare say that they are the group of guys with the best dancers and choreography that the kpop industry has right now. But many times I can't stop seeing Junhui because seriously something different and special is technically seen in all the dances that makes him attractive to the eye (artistically speaking) the way his arms and legs move , their expressions, their shoulders, their neck, EVERYTHING *(look at the beautiful fourth position that he does in the minute **3:33**)* and I say this with experience I'm professional dancer and I've seen so many dancer in along time and he's so special and artistical, he's a masterpiece
As far as I know, he never took ballet or contemporary dance before entering pledis, but practicing wushu, piano, and acting were done long before he was scouted. He started taking dance lesson seriously during predebut svt days, taught by woozi and hoshi. It always amazes me how precise, elegant, and graceful his movement even without dancing background, he's an amazing fast learner. His movement is truly my favorite among the 4 perf unit members. But dancing is not his priority. He prefers polishing his singing skill these days
He is greattt
That was Jisoo, Woozi, and Mingyu tho? Jun was wearing a hoodie
I'm honestly quite surprised when I saw almost none of the comments in this video is about Jun. My eyes was fixed on him and I was surprised at 1:10, too, when I saw his beautiful pointe. I paused at 3:33, too, because the way he did it was so artistic.
ikr? he's just AAAAAAAHHHHH he dances too well and gracefully
Kpop fans should admit that every single choreography of seventeen is masterpiece
It is a masterpiece

A Dancer perspective: you rarely see choreographies like this anymore. It's smooth yet powerful, it tells story and not just to impress.
I salute this team so much, i hope for their success!
I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE COMPLETELY!
YES SOMEONE FINALLY EXPLAINED IT!! this is exactly why i love svt's dances. this is what makes them unique. their dances don't just impress, they storytell, they symbolize, they evoke the imagination and bring their songs to full life.
Keichan Zel if you also see other team (idols or dance crews), they focus a lot on technicalities, and make moves every count or beat which really losses the soul of dancing. This makes me stan svt even more
Everytime you think they can not top their previous choreography they come up with something even more breathtaking♥
Sorry but not sorry. This song makes me believe Seventeen deserves the entire world. "Thanks" Seventeen Im proud to be a carat.
This is late but junnie really need to wear something underneath his hoodie/sweater he is killing us by exposing his abs

Tbh I never though a choreography could beat Don't Wanna Cry. But then I see this and damn. Talent over talent. Art over art
Notice that DK has the center material. You can see from this video (and aju nice), even it's not his part, he's still being the center. Not to mention he is a good dancer and got nice facial expressions.
I kinda agree with you. I mean eventho svt don't have official center, but i do think dk, mingyu, jun could be a center. They got the characteristic as a good center.
Yeah, I noticed this in many dance practices!!
I'm not exaggerating when I say this but this song is the first song I've listened to for about 5 months now everyday without getting tired of. Like I'm truly amazed that I'm still not tired of this song yet

IM SORRY BUT THIS CHOREO WILL REMAIN IN HISTORY. ICONIC
DK in this song really stood out to me in the MV because of the raw emotion he portrayed in his parts, I was thoroughly impressed when he was able to capture those same feelings on the stage with all of the other members as well. DK is honest to god one of the most talented idols I've ever witnessed.
jun's sweatshirt *FLOO*
the thing won't stay down throughout the whole thing lmaoo
Who did the Choreo for this??? Hoshi? My god, the movement of this whole dance is amazing. You'd think that with so many members, it would look cluttered, but these boys are so great at using their large number to create amazing movement within the dances. Seventeen is definitely one of the top groups when it comes to sheer creativity and artistry of their choreo (not even mentioning their vocals, which are also amazing).
omegasage Yes. Hoshi did the choreo for this one. With the help of a professional choreographer. Usually, Hoshi is the one who always choreographs their title song on every album with the help of the performance team & a professional choreographer.
Yeah, I knew that Hoshi usually handled the choreography, but I didn't know they also had a pro choreographer to help (I guess that's obvious though haha). The performance team is really outstanding anyway
That's why I Stan hoshi!!!he's the best
Min Hoshi True. I'm a frustrated dancer myself and it's really hard to come up with a dance that could capture the audience's attention. But Hoshi & the performance team really did a good job portraying the lyrics thru their dance. As always.
I especially wanted to thank Jun's sweatshirt for providing me with good times (what a man)
i have an unhealthy obsession with this video
they move as one and yet still manage to create an atmosphere that lets each and every one of them shine for their own parts. seventeen are no joke. this choreography is next level even for kpop.
This directors cut is such an interesting concept. The MV was them in the practice rooms, studios, or anywhere possible to practice, and their dance practice video is a rehearsal on stage perfecting every moment. True artistry, inside and out.
Ohhh I like this comment! tbh Director's Cut is one of my favourite concepts in kpop... which is HILARIOUS, because it's hardly a "concept". But I've never seen a kpop group do something quite like this as an official comeback?? Like it's just so RAW. AND GENUINE >< It's the best depiction of SVT because it's actually *real* and shows how hardworking and honest these boys truly are with their work.
I watched it 13 times just to see every member
the satisfying synchronisation.

EASILY. And 2018 just barely began... but if no choreo from 2017 can top this-- i doubt anything better will come along (unless svt make another comeback and outdo themselves LMAO)
Kathu YES
Well, it’s still early to really say, but it sets up such high standards for other groups.
Kathu ew no obviously Exo has the best choreography of the year 😤😤
Kathu i hope!
Seventeen are honestly crazy good. They have 13 members, you'd think it would be messy and overcrowded on stage but it's not, they have flawless transitions, every single member moves cleanly and precisely and don't even get me started on the synchronisation. This choreography is a masterpiece, just when I thought Don't Wanna Cry choreo was the peak they make this perfection, when matched with the lyrics you can really feel how emotional and genuine they are. I really adore Seventeen, they are all my role models and I'm always proud of them every single day. One day they will reach the top, I'm 100% certain of that.
it is july 2023 and this song and the choreography is a masterpiece
I love the fact that they're not dancing the choreo instead they are interpreting the feeling of the song
Bless you Jun for not wearing a shirt under your hoodie! 😏🙆♂️
*ONE WORD FOR THIS CHOREO=PERFECTION*
I rewatched this tonight and had my eyes on junhui’s sweater lol my bias for this week
I've watched that fanchant fancam so many times that even if I'm totally distracted doing something else with this song in the background without realizing what song it is, I will hear that fanchant and realize what song it is.
Seems like hoshi were trying to say to haters that svt owns the best performance awards by making this hard choreography. Am i right or am i right?😄
(btw thanks to hoshi n perf unit n choreographer who made this its so freaking amazing!!¡!)

This is still one of my absolute favorite choreograhies of all time. I cant get through this video without repeating different sections multiple times because it's so satisfying to watch. I love all the formations and ripple effects
Hands down the best choreography in kpop of all time. The emotion they deliver through their moves is just....
I love this choreo video so much. It's basically just like the MV-- a sort of "behind the scenes" of the whole making of the svt production. The boys in their practice clothes, probably doing a stage rehearsal or practice run of the dance before the big show.... it's beyond fitting for 'thanks' -- and raw and beautiful in every sense. Maybe that's why it's making me emotional.
oh man ;___; you said it perfectly. now IM emo
T____T
I guess that's why the repackage is called Director's Cut as well ;)
Kairos very true :")
So true ♥
I wish I could express how powerful and moving the choreography is, but I really can’t find words to. I think you all understand that trying to describe it is difficult, so I won’t try. I just think of groups like Got7 and NCT 127 who can dance so incredibly, but this dancing is so different because while they aren't as acrobatic as other groups, they still are able to tell us a story with their bodies and I think Seventeen has the most powerful and aw-inspiring choreography out of anybody I've ever seen.
ProjectAnimation yes. Surely. I felt it too, since Dont wanna cry, they've been dancing to express the story behind the lyrics of the song, n this one, just tear me up, of how they are so grateful to those who have supported them ol the way. Tq to u SVT!
It's great to say all good things about your faves but do you really need to bring in other groups for comparison?! Like, if you'd just typed your whole comment without adding got7 and nct, you could still make your point. I'm not a seventeen stan but I came here to see their dance cause it's really nice but there are other groups also that dance well AND a lot of good things can be said about them.....do we really need to drag everyone here though?!
ProjectAnimation Check UP10TION, their dance practice. They are not worse, amazing too
Ahgase even though you break your head
She's not dragging tho? It should be a compliment to de described as incredible dancers with a style different from svt. Why are y'all so defensive lol
The other groups I mentioned are astounding dancers and Got7 and NCT 127 are personal favourites of mine, I was just drawing the comparison because Seventeen is not a primarily dance-centred group but still managed to create something on par with that sort of power. I meant nothing horrible, it was an observation I made. You chose to interpret it negatively and to pick a fight, as if I said Seventeen is above them. A word of advice (not just for this but for life in general) would be to admire everybody for their own unique talents instead of seeking out confrontation. Idols create dances for us to admire, not bicker over. Listen to your advice to me and try next time to enjoy the videos for what they are. :)
Best choreography the kpop industry has ever seen. Fight me
seventeen have the most beautiful dances for a boy group in kpop
Just saw somebody saying Thanks doesn't deserve to win the best dance on MMA because there was nothing new, unique, and VIRAL...
VIRAL??? Is this what dancing is now about? Going viral?
And NOTHING UNIQUE? NOTHING NEW?
They freaking used sign language so even people with disabilities could enjoy it.
Know what. There's no award which would deserve to be given to Thanks. Thanks choreography isn't a dance. It's an ART.

@@ailengarcia6613 there's no award which would reflect how much Thanks deserves.
Is it just me or the first time you watch the video, you just stare at the center of the vid because probably: first, you don't know where to look at; second, you're basically testing their synchronization and; third, because you find it extremely satisfying to look at the same spot of the vid just to see them doing the same exactly sharp moves at the same time through your peripheral vision. Istg, S in Seventeen stands for Synchronization and every E in Seventeen stands for EXTREMELY SYNCHRONIZED or EXTREMELY TALENTED, or both.
Rilie Santiagudo Yessss! Someone understands! Whenever I watch Seventeen's choreography videos, I just always stare at the center because the synchronization is so clear and it's hard to explain how satisfying it is. They are overall really great dancers, plus this song is perfection. Tbh it's become hard for me to get overly impressed anymore when it comes to dance practices after watching seventeen. The amount of art and genius they put in their dancing is really amazing.
I really like minghao's part... his body movement really suit with these type of choreo
The fluidity is explicitly incredible, one of the other 99 reasons I like seventeen
other people would think that the choreography video for thanks is cheap because it was just filmed in an empty stage (probably carat land) but it's so appropriate for the theme of thanks. this is svt and their raw-ness. they're giving us a glimpse of what really happens off cam
ynaccurate So theyre like showing us the Plot ver of the album?
ynaccurate trueee ♡
damn...i think seventeen is the only boy group that really catch my eyes with their choreography...
other groups are great too, there is just something with seventeen's choreo
topspin_14 that’s what I have been thinking for a long time. There is a story in their dances and majority don’t fit the beat, but matching the words, which I appreciate a lot
but haters always say svt is nothing bcs their songs is not catchy and brainwashed, i kinda wanna throw my shoes to their face bich. THE REASON WHY I STAN THEM IS BECAUSE THEY USE THEIR CHOREO AND LYRICS TO TELL PEOPLES THEIR STORY, EVEN IF SOME OF THEIR SONGS ARE NOT CATCHY AS OTHER KPOP GROUPS BUT THEIR CHOREO IS TOTALLY ANOTHER LEVEL LOL
I watched and stan many groups but when I'm searching for dances and choreographies I always go for Seventeen coz why not, they're on another level.
@@bunnyjihoon1207 lol Seventeen has the most catchy songs ever
Very nice
Don't wanna cry
Boom boom

MANSAE
and many other songs
Right?? I just can’t explain it
They seem every choreography seem so effortless that people forget how much work it takes to perfect every single move the way they do.. They are insane...
