I remember I got Snow job and the Polar Battle Bear at the same time. My dad was in the Army at the time and really liked the 82 -87 Joes a lot so It helped Me get most of them. Snow job and Mutt were My Favorite joes and Snow Job was in a few Comics as well.
I think Airborne is high because it's a good figure that was overlooked. So older collectors want him to complete a collection. I don't think he'd rank that high if all figures came out at once. He's like a lost figure that is rediscovered.
Until much, much later where I have tons of figures....I mostly hated environmental specific figures like Torpedo and Wet-suit, and Snow Job. Eels were always cool though. Now that I have enough figures to feel full teams of artic or water battles I appreciate the figures more.
See how much i can predict here (83 to 86 is the year of the classics both comics/cartoons and toys). I assume this is solely about 83 figures and not the 82 swivel versions. So my guesses would be 1. Gung Ho 2. Cobra commander 3 Destro 4.Airborne 5 SNow job 6. Duke 7. Cobra viper pilot 8. Torpedo 9 Doc 10. Cover Girl (edit) you or they did count the Swivel arm version(s) of 82 figures.Personally i think that's a bit of cheating. as for the results 8/10 ony cover girl and Viper pilot where not mentioned, guess the latter one is so rare they actually forgot about him.
what do you think about the Viper Pilot. Had a glider? anyway they looked like a cobra basic soldier and I had them as a kid but I don't recall having the cobra attack glider. diff cobra chest logo i think
I think he's kind of the weakest of the "cobra troopers" as far as effort goes. But he's worth a ton and I wish I had one with a nice silver symbol. When they reused the officer to make a vehicle diver he got a unique gray paint scheme.
There was one released around 2000, original Snow Job mold with same accessories. Very similar in color scheme. I think his name was White Out. If you're willing to accept a cheaper (and probably much whiter) substitute in your collection, this will do.

SEAL was very cool, but i found myself using Airborne extensively unless i was in the bath tub

Airborne airborne all the way! Great figure but sadly underused in media.
Yeah, Ripcord got a bigger story in the comics. Neither one made an impact in the cartoon very much.
