Another PA clinic by Scott. Those wild brownies were definitely awake and eating. Thanks for taking us along. God bless and Merry Christmas. - Chris in VA
Hi Chris! Hope you’re having a great holiday season! Love the days when we hit it right, happy to share with everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting and for all your support.
Good morning Scott. Just wanted to wish you a happy healthy new year. Ps I just watched your last video and you are so in tuned when that line hesitates your setting the hook. Well done. Make it a great year Scott
Hello Michael and Happy New Year to you too. It is very surprising how I’m able to detect hits or strikes just focusing on my leader or line. Honestly, guys that I show my technique to in person are able to pick up the signs also in a relatively short time. Very freeing not relying on indicators or sighters anymore. Here’s to a safe and fun 2025 🥂.
I'm rough as a cob dry fly guy Love a 12ft leader on an 8ft 4wt Central Pa creeks 40 years getting after it This is fantastic present Merry Christmas to everybody
Hello Jeff! And happy holidays. I love the dry flies too, but gotta do what we gotta do to catch fish in the Winter. But trust me, if I see dimples for midges, I’m on it! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
The perfect Christmas gift Indeed! Loved the snow in the background and you whistling "Let it snow". Happy New Year Scott, watching the temps here to get out again next weekend!
Hi Snook and Happy New Year soon! I’m having a wonderful holiday season. Had a tough day on Penns today, fished with Dave Rothrock, I think he got 8-9 fish and I got 7, but decent sizes, but I can still appreciate the challenge and the beauty of Penns. God is good! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow Scott, any day on the water is a great day. Little trout and all. That alone tells you that something amazing is happening on that stream. Natural reproduction is great. Now for your cold fingers, I couldn’t last without battery heated gloves and hand warmers. Last several days especially before Christmas were brutally cold. You caught the window before that happened. As always a great video. Thanks.
Hello Ed and happy holidays! Yes, I just timed it right that day. As far as my hands , after around 12 noon, I was ok, somehow I just got used to it even though it was still snowing. Glad you enjoyed the video. That is a special stream, was actually my best day there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Scott! Yes it was and yes I did. Got lucky again, just hit it on the right day. Happy I was able to share with everyone. Hope you have a fun Winter fishing season. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Merry Christmas buddy. Thanks for working hard to get this video out. I really enjoyed it. Beautiful day with the snow coming down. You sure picked the right fly combination brother. Lots of landed fish. Thanks again.
Thank you brother! You guys deserve it. Ha! Not often I make the right call at the beginning of the day, my last two short outings I actually got skunked. Happy Santa gave me my gift early to share with everyone. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Great video Scott, enjoyed your last one the informational one dealing with your tandem rig set up that you fish with. Looks like you tied into somenice trout, theyvwere hitting well that day for you! As always appreciate the time you put into your videos! Merry Christmas and have a blessed New Year!
Thank you very much Jerome! I hope you give the tandem rig a try, especially if you head up to the Delaware. Yes, was blessed with a super day, glad I was able to share with everyone. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Scott! What a wonderful day on the water. Like you, I don't wear gloves when it's cold out - but an old towel (dish/hand towel) in the chest pocket is a savior after handling and releasing a fish or getting your hands wet for any reason!
Hello Alec! Yes, I know that Kelly Galloup tip, but seems I never remember when I’m getting all geared up, ha! Have a joyous holiday season and thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Erik! Actually, hit the Tully earlier and got SKUNKED!! Fished it about two hours then gave up, not even a single hit. It happens 🤷♂️. Glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@ Hi Doug! Oh my, for me , just the opposite, I get very excited when I hear snow is coming, many great days out in the snow. Thanks for watching and commenting.
yo buddy, wow what a great winter outing my friend. awesome. those wild browns are absolutely beautiful this time of year. man, they were eating to. jack and I gotta get out, i got the itch bad, lol. snow made the day for your video, what a great setting in that class A water. way to go buddy
Hey Mike! Some days , you just hit right, another being in the right place at the right time. I can appreciate all trout but those wilds do hold a special place. Hope you’re able to get out and wet a line soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Merry Christmas brother! I hope you get a chance soon, just try to make it a day when it’s get over or around 32 degrees and very little wind. Good luck and have fun.
Great video again. Is that a fl cheese eggstacy glo bug or orange? You used to use white or cream. No? You didn't get skunked on this day. lol Love the snowy day. Keep um coming!!!
Hi George! This video I started out with the Fl. Sunburst Orange color, then after that one fell apart, I switched over to the Fl. Cheese color. I think , this day, the orange worked better. Thanks again.
You guys need to get the Lake Erie combo lic and come up to Erie/Fairview/Girard/Mckean for some speed trout!! Poor Richards for fishing forecast and creek conditions and stop into FISHUSA in Fairview on rt 20 many near state records already this year..
Honestly, I’ve never been a steelhead or salmon or lake run brownie guy, never been up there. I hear it can be like a zoo somedays, or guys can see a ton of fish in a hole but no fish biting and the drought earlier stranded a ton of fish until the rain came. Me particularly, I don’t need big fish to keep me happy. But never say never, maybe someday I’ll get up there Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@pawoodsnwater7551 Diversify! Everyone is using eggs ,so use a minnow fly, so many dont use Lehigh rigs(nymph then a minnow pattern) and they are crazy effective...Know what colors works best for each species red/pink rainbow ,blue/coho yellow/browns .It can be that simple and it really makes them mad and strike out of reaction..And know when they are nesting and feeding .And know when to get back off the creek bank we use 9-11' rods for gods sake.
Hey Scott, great video ! Do you have a link to the replacement net bag for your Orvis net ? I just got a great price on the net, and am pretty sure I would like to replace the bag as you did. Thank you much for a reply, Larry
Hello Larry! Thank you very much! I got the replacement net off Amazon, this should be the link for the net , size and color I purchased, m.media-amazon.com/images/S/sash//cxfxW9mXeoKT4Ys.svg If the link doesn’t work, I purchased it from Amazon, the company was Dovesun Rubber Fish net replacement, black color, size: 12.6” diam. , 11.8” depth, 39.3” circumference, price $12.99 Hope this helps, I used the same thread that I unstitched from the old net, so be careful taking it off not to ruin that thread, I did also have to add about 3” of a similar thread to the end because I guess I didn’t stitch it or tye it into the frame the same exact way as I took it off. Also, I started by putting the net on around the frame with twisty ties, then started the thread at one side near the handle and kept stitching it around the frame back down to the other side of the handle, then took the twisty ties off after it was finished. Good luck 👍🏻.
Merry Christmas Scott. I am still trying to get my head wrapped around you're rig...you are not tight line nymphing, but you are also not indicator nymphing...looks like you are using floating line, tied directly to tippet and actually letting the floating line sink into the water?....does your glo-bug have a weight/bead head on it? Whatever you do, it works...and I am sure you will be killing it in '25 as well.
Merry Christmas Brother! Ha! Honestly, the way I’ve been nymphing from the start, 50 years, I’ll suggest a couple of my videos, from the Summer of ‘23, my video called My Leader Setup, two older ones, Nymphing Strategies Part 3, and then the first ten minutes of my video Nymphing a Snowy Penns Creek, these three will explain my leader and my technique. Have a wonderful holiday season. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Another great video Scott hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. I'm planning on a spring trip in Slate Run area for some dry fly fishing when do you suggest would be a good time be there and what would you suggest using. Have been up there the past couple years in late October and really love that area. Thanks
Hi Michael! Pine Creek is prime in May, actually from opening day until the first week of June, then temps start rising. All of May there’s great hatches on Pine, it’s crowded but still worth it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Seth! On all my outfits I run a standard weight forward floating line matched to the rod weight, then I use the 50” Cutthroat Furled Shorty Leader just for my butt section then 5ft of 4x Flouro, then the tandem rig. I have a couple older videos that go into my leader and technique more in detail, one in the summer of’23 is called, My Leader Setup, then look up Nymphing Strategies Part 3, then watch the first ten minutes of Nymphing a Snowy Penns Creek. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Merry Christmas brother! Sure, Lackawaxen River, Lackawanna River, Tobyhanna Creek, not far from the Upper Delaware River and it’s branches, just go on the PA Fish and Boat Commissions website and look for adult trout stockings or wild trout waters, there’s an interactive map or you could search according to counties. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice fishing Scott especially for this time of the year! All the best to you in 2025!
Lively Legz!! Hey guys! Using your Legz on Scott’s Big Ginger Nymph, love them! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Merry Christmas Scott, this video was an unexpected Xmas morning surprise! Thank you. Thought for sure this was going to be on the Tully.

Merry Christmas Scott. Hope Santa brought you some nice things, no coal. The second brownie was a beauty.
Hey Sung! Merry Christmas! Oh man, I definitely wasn’t expecting a day like that! God is good! Hopefully see you up on the Delaware this coming year.

The burping sound when you unhook them what is that? Their swim bladder?
Hi Jim! Naa, just a croaking sound a lot of browns make more than rainbows or brookies. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Just bought a house in Pa . in Pike County can recommend any spots to fly fish ?
Merry Christmas brother! Sure, Lackawaxen River, Lackawanna River, Tobyhanna Creek, not far from the Upper Delaware River and it’s branches, just go on the PA Fish and Boat Commissions website and look for adult trout stockings or wild trout waters, there’s an interactive map or you could search according to counties. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Are these stocked trout or wild?
These are all wild brownies, Class A PA waters.
