I know Peterson has tension tools to pick sfic cores to control. I have all the confidence in the world that you could make something similar so you can gut it.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall :). That is one chunky lock, I hope the cleaning went well, I love cleaning up old locks and getting them back into service. Thanks!
Very nice! When I saw the length of the key I thought it was a 7 pin lock. This one has seen better days but is still fully functional. Nice picking and gutting, writh a clean up it should pick ever so differently. Would be nice to see you bring this back with a nice clean core and compare the different picking experience. Cheers LN.
The Conquest range was introduced around 1995. The padlocks were the open shackle like you have, the closed shackle, the high shoulder closed shackle and the Hercules. all of these were keyed in 6 pin or AVA. The AVA locks are the rarest. In your padlock form the high shoulder AVA padlock is the ultimate in rarity. You can identify an AVA by the black plastic boot covering the base of the padlock. Yours should have had a sliding metal plate covering it with an allen key screw to retain it.
I've got a close shackle high shoulder version with a black plastic weather guard on the base, it's the 6 pin pin tumbler version like this one not the AVA. Got it pretty damn cheep too 😁
I love these big Chubb locks! 😍🔐

Older locks like there definitely give a unique challenge!
Realy found this useful thanks
Awesome!
That's the same way you gut the medeco padlock with the same LFIC looking core. That ball bearing can be a real pain to get back into place.
Yeah it’s a right pain!

The Ava is a great locking mechanism for sure
Cool to see starting with a rake false set before spp!
Thanks!

Nice!
Could the shoulders be just wear from lots of use? The core is brass so it will get worn fairly easily especially with steel pins
Could be!
Thanks LPL!❤
