Schools are bad in Newark, they need better resources, better lunches, more afterschool programs and a more serious sports program available to compete with other counties.

Gunshot 47 city in New Jersey but on the cusp of New York City. It’s very run down and has high crime rate etc. as a New Yorker, I had to go through Newark a few times, and it’s shocking to see the state of the city truthfully. The houses windows even have cages on them so no one can break in, both lower and upper levels. Wishing them all the best

Though Newark has issues & rough areas just like any other city, there are many positive things about it. There are many people like her that'll never get recognized but whose work is felt by the people that they serve & live with. We wish her all the best. Congratulations

@@8888funnygirl Also understand that areas by Penn station and central Newark tend to be a bit rowdy.. If you go to neighborhoods in the Ironbound section, or places by Rutgers University, it's really nice.

I love seeing younger people who have skin in the game get involved in there local governments and schools!
I think they are far more likely to think about the long term effects of the policies they fight for and or more likely to know what really needs to be done to improve situations.

I love this! I hope the community remains engaged. Having her on the school board is amazing, but if the board was made up of half the people from her community, or at least with similar backgrounds, that type of positive change could last for generations. I'm sure all their lost loved ones would be proud. Beautiful piece.

N Ca in Newark you have teachers that come straight from Newark they get a degree and teacher in the same schools they went to and don’t care about the students

I got divorced last year from my abusive husband. I do not want to keep his name and I do not want to go back to my abusive father's name. I have been searching for a new last name for me and my 2-year-old son that represents what I've been through and the strength it took to escape and survive. Then I saw this video of this amazing inspirational, young woman and I think I know what I want our last name to be. It would be an honor to take this woman's last name.

May she continue her organisation for as long as possible so that she can help more teenage girls to express and control their emotions better. Also to continually help them to realise their untapped talents and potential and to use those skills in their future workplaces

Elliott Slamovich kindly go at 1:48 for the answer. That was initially her goal since she's had prior experience regarding the sensitive subject. No doubt it has now expanded into an inclusive program since her win in 2019. Notice how the photos also show boys in their community :)
