This. I still vividly remember Anguirius getting his jaw broken by Mechagodzilla feeling unbelievably tragic because of how he & Godzilla had each other's backs in the bigger fights.
I used to love watching these old Japanese Godzilla trailers as a kid, even if I had no idea what the heck they were saying. Sometimes, I'd even try my best to mimic the Japanese heard in these. I've always loved Godzilla, and I always will.
Ghidorah to Gigan: You cut him! You hurt him! You see?! He's a monster! He's not a machine! Godzilla to Anguirus: There's three heads! I see three of them! Anguirus to Godzilla: Hit the one in the middle!
I don’t care what anyone says I love this movie. Gigan is an amazing looking kaiju and this movie made Godzilla and Anguirus real underdogs. Not to mention as a kid it really pulled me heart strings seeing Godzilla get so beat up. Only to come back stronger in the end. Good times.
Definitely a favorite of mine. This movie is like many flavors of cheesiness, and all in the good, and bad ways. You really got to be in the right mind set to really enjoy this one.
You do realize ALL godzilla movies have simple plots right?. It's most specifically the reiwa era that is trying to be complex by adding either literal politics (shin gojira) or psychological aspects (anime trilogy) or mathematics (singular point) into the plots. So far only shin gojira works with it's complexity.
My idea for Gigan in the MonsterVerse: He will be an alien bioweapon created using genetic engineering and cybernetics. He was created using the DNA of dinosaurs, birds, reptiles, fish, and insects as well as creatures from Hollow Earth and other planets. Gigan is currently contained in a Monarch outpost in Area 51 in a mummified state, but he is not dead: He will inevitably wake up.
I’d like this movie more if King Ghidorah didn’t look so cheap and they actually filmed more footage rather than relying on stock footage at but too excessively. It’s the Star Trek V of the franchise: Good idea bogged down by cheap special effects, even if the effects are mostly better than that movie.
That’s why this was made as part of a children’s film festival package, because Toho knew that children would be the least discriminating moviegoing audience.
The producer Tomoyuki Tanaka would have agreed with you there. He had felt the director of Godzilla Vs. Hedorah wrecked the whole franchise and never let him direct another movie at Toho again.
Let's not perpetrate this "space chicken" nonsense American fans persist in. According to the Japanese, Gigan is a cyborg "uchu kyoryu"-- "space dinosaur."
Your obviously a new fan that has only watched the monsterverse and that's it. First off this was 1972 this was before cgi was more advanced in Hollywood and before Japan even used cgi. The monsterverse wouldn't be here without these classic movies. Also these movies used suits and props not animation have more respect for these original movies all because you have no concept of anything godzilla outside of the monsterverse
I watch these older films because i get to see the history of the Godzilla franchise and think of some older ideas that could be introduced in newer films to improve them. Plus they're pretty fun, despite the outdated effects, they are as entertaining as the MonsterVerse movies too.
Because the simple suits and miniatures have a liveliness a that CGI can’t substitute. Plus, the Monsterverse films are mostly just slick Hollywood product that don’t add anything really substantively new or novel to Godzilla.
I love how Anguirus is described in the subtitles as Godzilla's "good buddy". Their friendship is very precious!
*flashback to Raids Again*
@@Nindroidgamer110 *insert fake godzilla vs anguirus*
This is how you know Godzilla became completely for children by this time.
Well, if you ignore the fact that this same Godzilla killed one of the same species of anguirus in 1955
We need more Godzilla and Anguirus tag team action. The world needs it.
Lol
In the monsterverse please
This. I still vividly remember Anguirius getting his jaw broken by Mechagodzilla feeling unbelievably tragic because of how he & Godzilla had each other's backs in the bigger fights.
What’s interesting is that Anguirus is the first monster that Godzilla ever fought!
Haha im making a godzilla fan film i have the 72 suit or 68 bandai figure

Despite the amount of re-used footage I find this one of my fav Godzilla's movies.
Why do so many "fans" hate this one? To me, it's one of the most essential Godzilla movies.
There’s too much stock footage.
I do think the storyline is unique, but it's not one I watch that often. I will say I love the corn-eating hippie character. He's really funny to me.
showa G and Anguirus are so cute, it was really wholesome and funny when they whispered and discussed tactics lol
One of the first Godzilla movies I ever saw. Thanks, local Blockbuster.
*We need Anguirus. The world needs him.*

The old Godzilla movies made me a believer.

They have the best fight scene.
This was at a pretty low point in the Godzilla franchise. It became strictly for children.
All Godzilla films are precious, I do wish however that the content and humor could be toned down some.

That song at the end is kinda great. I remember this for being such a bloody Godzilla flick.

i got excited. i saw this on insta and i thought it was gonna be a reboot. i was hoping to see gigan and Anguirus on the big screen
