I've used the Ranger Vest in the past with decent success but I later adopted the Photojournalists Vest because it has so many more pockets. I already knew about the Basic 5 C's of survival but it was after watching Naked & Afraid because the survivalists will usually bring a machete or hatchet, firestarter & the series might give them a pot. I figured that the other two C's would be 550 cord & a tarp (Cover) because it just made sense. Everything fits in the vest pockets except for the pot. So I went online to search for a "folding pot" & I found the Bear Bowl Camping Cookware 32 oz foldable cooking pot. With that problem solved I added a CamelBak so that I could carry my water & that helped to counter balance the front weight of the vest. It's a Bail Out (Vest) Bag similar to what pilots use but in civilian form. It'll be used when I have to Bail Out of my car to Get-Home or as a backup for our CERT exercises. You're idea about a pistol that can fire assorted rounds is refreshing & a stoke of genius. Great presentation.

Good video. Well said and you spoke the truth. Do what you can with what you have.

Very nice setup. I recently bought myself a Heritage revolver. I like the barkeep you have, but I chose the Rough Rider with 3 1/2" barrel, as it is the shortest available that has an ejector rod so you do not have to keep up with the "pokey stick". I bought a holster similar to yours from Walmart. I modified it slighty to improve the fit. I just ordered a concealed carry vest from Amazon. Your video offers excellent ideas. Good job young man!

Thank you. Yes I have the 3 1/2 to I just use the barkeep for a kit gun. Heritage is great especially for the money.

Making your own vest for females and southpaws is essential. If moving with family, consider what each could pack in a vest to either contribute to the move or to give the person/child water/calories/light etc if they're accidently separated from the group.

I have always loved this idea. I bought my first vest way back in 1980 or 1981 from Brigade Quartermasters. Since then, I have bought a dozen or so vests off of ebay and surplus stores, and even had a couple built to my specs, and they are all packed and ready to go. For me, they are just so much handier and easier to get at items than a pack when you're on the move, and easier to move around in as well. Keep up the great work.

Great video. I wear a vest like this in summer every day and pretty much loaded up. I would sugest having a bigger Knife and in addition a SAK. I would also add 2 spaceblankets and maybe even a poncho and some kind of flat metal cantainer to desinfekt some water. Other than that, great.

Excellent video sir! I own two identical Adventure Vests I purchased on clearance from Cabela’s a few years back. They are brand new and never used. Each vest has 16 pockets, including a large back pocket! Plenty of room for what I need them for. One I use as a GHB, the other for day hikes with my girl friend. I was cleaning out my closet and there they were, hanging there, never used. So. Remembering my days in the USAF, and seeing pilots and aircrew members wearing survival vests on missions….well, the rest is history. Both vests are well stocked with what I need to survive, light weight and very comfortable to wear. Thank you for posting your video. I subbed and look forward to future videos. Thank you and well done sir!

Would be interesting to know the items your AF vest carried or at least the categories prioritized. All depends too on location - except in dead of winter, we in Texas need insect repellent to even care if we live or die lol

I like the idea of the vest, but a few critics. Velcro and being silent does not work. Use black contractor bags. The pill bottles are ok for ammo, but zip lock baggies for weather seals and prevent ammo rattling. Add a small fire kit and a small first aid kit .

We have a legit military survival vest at our army surplus store. It was cool to see but limited in space. I have one fishing vest type and one BDU shirt with the sleeves taken off. I find with fishing vest you are trying to make the gear fit the pockets so I went with the 4 pocket BDU shirt. I would like to get a flat pocket sewn on the back for a larger shelter material pocket, side pockets on either side of that for water bottles would be cool. I grouped the four pockets roughly as: Shelter/Tools-Fire/Nav-Signalling/First Aid. A vest is also useful for stealth camping allowing for a smaller day pack rather than a ruck. It is also good for homeless under a larger coat.

Great idea. For years I've used a fishing vest. Who the baddies gonna target? The dude in all the tacti-cool gear OR the guy that looks likes he's going fishing for the weekend?
