A wonderful review. To answer your question... being a light weight AIM, I'd recommend a Mesh Bungie at top of Murphy Bed area in stead of a shelf. Really like that Imagine is coming out with these type of single axle trailers. Love seeing the Murphy bed and still keeping the pass through storage underneath. That is really nice. One thing I thought of that would be really cool is if you were able to get that table against the wall to pivot so you could have people sitting on both sides of the table. Just a thought

My wife and I saw this unit on another video for Imagine. It was their showcase for their new models. We loved it and couldn't find it anywhere. Good to know it's still a prototype. I like most of the changes! I would only say, put a mirror in the bathroom above where the toilet currently is in place of the window and have an electrical outlet about shoulder height on the right side near the sink. My wife needs space to do her hair. If a window is necessary, simply put it above the sink. If it covers it when folded up, that's not a huge deal for us at all.

Great little trailer. I have an Imagine XLS 22 MLE. I wouldn’t put a shelf on bottom of Murphy bed. Could hit your head when getting up from couch. Maybe an open shelf at very top above bed. I have been eyeballing the 16ML wishing it had the kitchen over on the driver side, no slide, and a booth dinette on campside (like a mini 21BHE). Dreamfoam Essential from RVMatress.com **full disclosure… they are a channel sponsor** but the only reason we agreed to let them sponsor was because we loved the product. We have 4 and they’re GREAT.
We are using a Brooklyn Bedding mattress. They are not advertised as Murphy bed replacements but this one is working VERY well so far. I’ll keep you updated.
Great use of space, need hooks and shoe area by door, I would look at having bar counter split and hinged, lifting to shallow cupboard underneath, space for kids items, things you don't want out in the open. The cupboards underneath like you said, but a shelf across above window, any way you can lose those stools and replace with a couple of bench type ? With seats that lift ?. Kids need storage, nets/ connections, small pouches at bunks. The bathroom.. a seat for the shower would make washing easier for height.. wire baskets net pounches , I see areas a mirror could go up with storage for combs shaver etc. Towel bar !! Great video.. next time include your wife and/or kids for their input 😀
Very nice review of a very nice unit. Fully support the idea of a two burner stove. We do use our stove lots, but I don't think we have ever used more than 2 burners at a time. First trailer we had just had 2 burners and it worked perfectly In fact I think the only reason they have often put three is more for "marketing" than usefulness. A lot of folks don't seem to care for single axle, but I was never sure why? We do have a dual axle now, but we have owned single axle trailers, and that worked just fine. Never had an issue with towing single axle at all. As with any trailer as long as weight distribution hitch is set up properly then all works well. I do like the idea of the stool/counter concept for eating space. I am curious what you do with those stools for travel? Great video, as always, safe travels........
@@WanderingWeekends What is the max speed you travel towing this unit? I was able to look at it in tampa as well as briefly run into you. Please advise.
We have a 17MKE with the same Murphree bed. As for a shelf added when the bed is stored... not sure what would go there as it would always need to be cleared for bedtime and the stuff has to go somewhere else at night. Depending on the depth of the shelf, maybe hats or day-use items, water bottles, camera gear, or gloves. It is a quick grab for day-use items. Just may be a pain each night relocating shelf items.
Not the type of RV we need but do have this thought. Would not put a mirror under the TV. Would think it would be a distraction/annoyance when you try to watch TV and would have glare off of it and really wouldn't work that well as a mirror not being able to stand directly in front of it. No shelf is my initial thought unless you have an idea as to what to put in it that would not be falling out or you would have to put in/ take out every time you set up or put away the bed.
Nice video, great little unit for a family with an SUV or smaller truck. Does this have Azdel? I think the bathroom needs some work. Would love a mirrored medicine cabinet and a small ledge or something to set your toothbrush down. Maybe a wired towel rack? Also the kitchen is nice but the oven and fridge seem very low, like I would have to bend down to cook. I haven’t seen one in person so maybe it was just the camera angle. I think the bigger window will be nice but still hope they do a high shelf for addition storage.
Great review, would have liked to actually seen the bathroom sink, have not seen one like that. And yes a mirror above the bathroom sink with a long wire basket🤗
So I guess losing the cabinets Over the Bar is necessary for bigger window I guess I'm that's okay maybe some slim shelf above that window would be useful. I would keep the doors blow the bar and just change the handles I think the storage is needed. The bathroom I would add hooks and some sort of small shelving rack to store personal items
No Shelf on the back of the bed. Bathroom: 3" deep medicine cabinet with mirror. Or just an adhesive mirror mounted to the wall with some small wire baskets/shelves. Keep the sink how it is. It is different, but it saves so much space. Rear storage - move the light to the top so the light shines down on the small space Kitchen - small window behind the cooktop. Even if it doesn't open (which is not in GDRV's DNA), it will make that little space seem open and bright and not a small dark cubbie hole. I would like to see an outlet there too if possible. Like you, *CORY*, we don't use the cooktop unless we have to. That would serve the perfect space for a crockpot or coffee machine. Seating area - maybe they split the difference. Half is doors to hide the clutter, half is open shelving. I'm sure there is a different style of handle that can be used to negate a good ole fashioned knee-knock. As far as hanging hooks, I agree it is needed, but I also like the freedom to choose my own and place them where I see fit.
agree 100% on moving the light to the top. Hooks are a different story. Grand Design uses reinforcement behind everything including hooks. Adding them is a more involved process than just screwing in a few screws.
@@WanderingWeekends 😂😂🤦♂️ that’s what happens when I use UA-cam to stay away on the midnight shift. My apologies to Cory. But that’s good to know about the hooks! We use the command stripes ones. Easy on, easy off with no damage or holes.
Did you weigh the tongue with propane, batteries, and water? If so, what was it? I’m trying to figure out if the TV I want to use has enough payload for this trailer. I looked at one last weekend I thought it was a very efficient use of space.
Curious if your replacement mattress is hinged like the crappy stock one? We just bought a 2022 Imagine XLS 21BHE and are looking for something more comfortable than the stock one...
No it’s not hinged but it’s doing great. Here is a vid I did about it. RESIDENTIAL Mattress in an RV Murphy Bed?? I Tried It and It Works GREAT ua-cam.com/video/ohGDYz_TGSo/v-deo.html
Great video....keep on keeping it real! Would have been good if you could have opened up the sink in the bathroom for viewers to see. We've had a 2600RB since 2017 and love ours. Since I live 22 miles from Athens I'll say go Dawgs but being a Cajun I gotta say GEAUX TIGERS.
Dang! You’re 100% correct on the sink. I’ll ignore the kitty comment… haha. I’m ready to come see your Imagine and check out the mods. Lemme know. Shoot me an email. Wanderingwknds@gmail.com
I really like the look of this unit. I have a GMC Canyon with the 2.8 Duramax and was curious about towing a unit of this size. I would have plenty of towing capacity, but payload will be my deciding factor. What is your actual loaded hitch weight running?
Many nice features especially for a prototype. There’s 2 deal breakers for me. Keep the cupboard doors or you’ll likely find items all over the floor especially if boondocking. The other is something you mentioned repeatedly. For me a single axle is a total deal breaker. Picture what happens when a tire blows out. I’ve been trailering for over 45 years and have seen some horrendous results of a single axle tire blow out. Never ever for me.
My husband and I are mountain bikers looking to purchase our first trailer. We would love a model that would replace the bunkhouse with an open storage area hopefully large enough to fit 2 adult mountain bikes. Also we do not want a slide. Thanks for all the informative videos.
I really hope they make a copy version of the keystone passport solo series 15fk, that new floorplan looks great but i think grand design could do it better with the AIM
We purchased the 23LDE, but would have purchased an AIM had they been available at the time. Would not get rid of doors underneath the bar area there is nothing worse than seeing all your stuff especially when you have a small space, I do think that the handles should be changed to small black knobs so you don’t hurt your knees. I love our 23LDE but I hate, hate, hate the open storage in the bathroom!
We have a bunkhouse and don't use the top bunk. It's just too difficult to get in and out of. We are in our 60s so that maybe a factor. It has now become storage for bedding.
I do not like that the bed does not come down with the slide in. How do you sleep if you stop one night at a rest area or Cracker Barrel etc, where you can't put slide out?
We’ve never slept at a Cracker Barrel so it wouldn’t be a concern for us. Obviously if those type of pit stops are a regular thing this unit may not be for you.
I would appreciate a good mattress coming standard with these units. The first thing most customers do is upgrade the mattress. We all know a high quality mattress is an essential item and could be a selling point.
No RVs should include a mattress from the factory. Save the expense at purchase and go buy what you want after the fact. I mean the crap all the manufacturers use would probably only knock off $50 but saving the hassle of getting rid of or storing it is worth that.
It amazes me that they don’t think of half the things you are suggesting as improvements. Do they not try them out before sending out the prototype or are they just saving money?
They’re a work in progress. It’s easy to play Monday morning quarterback. They’re already implementing most of what we’ve suggested so it’s not a budget thing.
@@WanderingWeekends I see that the new AIM lineup comes with a 30amp controller and a 200w panel on the roof... but does it come with an inverter? I'd like to boondock and I have a CPAP so I will need the 110 outlet.. Please advise. ty in advance
Make the bunks tripple (rather than double), just like what is found onboard U.S. Navy ships. No windows in the bunk areas Boondocking Options: Solar panels, high-clearance, well-insulated, heavier-duty suspension, etc.
@@WanderingWeekends Yes, but as someone who slept in cramped quarters onboard an aircraft carrier, I think a case can be made that a camper is just a "glorified tent" "Join the Navy and See the World".

Since you have that huge counter stop , I would eliminate the slide. I prefer the storage cabinets above the counter space and cabinets below. Don't need stuff falling out of the shelves below and looking shoved in. Would have to keep it neat. Hook are an easy fix to add on your own. No shelf. You can't get into the drawers with a shelf in the way unless it is on a bracket that slips on the top like an over the door hanger. We put backpacks and suites under the bed overhang.
Tows wonderfully. Just the ball and it’s tracking great. I’m town on whether to use a sway reducing hitch. Probably will but so far it’s been great without
Hehehe looks like a sardine Can. In my opinion, hehehe my opinion is way to small for 4 people. BUT, if that is all you can afford it will work. I like my space and more. I am old and like what I like. HEHEHE
Needs way more payload. 700lbs isn’t enough for a family of 4. If need be they need to add an axle at least. And offer a dinette as an option and I’d buy one in a heartbeat Unless the payload number I saw was wrong. But offer this with a dinette and everything the same and I’m sold
Imagine does build quality trailers, but there's too much wrong with this layout. It's a deal breaker for me. Silly sink on the wall in the bath, no medicine cabinet with mirror. I could live with the bar stool and bar area, but not crazy about it. Stools are just something else to have to secure in transit. And that kitchen is awful, looks like it was put together as an afterthought once everything else was done. I do like single axle trailers. They pull fine and they don't destroy tires in tight turns and jackknife situations. Less maintenance and expense. And using a 5,100lb axle is a huge plus. Most single axle units come an axle that's too light. But over all, this one would not be for me. But hey...thats why everyone makes something different, not everyone likes the same thing.
A wonderful review.

Dreamfoam Essential from RVMatress.com **full disclosure… they are a channel sponsor** but the only reason we agreed to let them sponsor was because we loved the product. We have 4 and they’re GREAT.
Woohoo! Res mattress in a murphy bed setup! Been wanting to test that theory.
THIS particular mattress works GREAT
Cabinets are ugly. Need a outside small fridge- a must have!
You might’ve just sold the murphy bed idea to us with that residential mattress.
Can you put a link on the mattress you guys used for the Murphy bed? Been looking at doing that with our camper Murphy bed
Here you go! rvmattress.com/products/brooklyn-wanderlust-memory-foam
Where did you purchase your replacement mattress. I haven't found a dealer that has the Murphy bed.
We are using a Brooklyn Bedding mattress. They are not advertised as Murphy bed replacements but this one is working VERY well so far. I’ll keep you updated.
@@WanderingWeekends Is it cut in two or are you just squishing it?A lot of us Imagine murphy bed owners are looking for a dealer.
I’m folding it. Not hinged. Just dropped a video about it!
We were wondering if the Murphy bed is able to come down with the slide in?? Love this new floor plan!
No, it doesn’t. Keeps up from being lazy. Haha.
What mattress did you use on the Murphy bed?? Is the mattress Murphy bed specific?
Dreamfoam Essential. It is not a Murphy specific mattress but it has been great!
I simply fold them and place them on the couch... they ride nicely there, no issues in over 500 miles.
This is a slam dunk home run!
We love it.
You’re 100% correct… just thinking out loud. Need to find something for that area though. Even a cool graphic. Something.
I love bungee netting idea for caps, gloves, hats, scarves, flip flops, house shoes, etc.
They do make shelves for murphy beds that move when the bed is lowered. and you don't have to take the things off.
Wish the kitchen sink was a round deep residential sink and faucet with a cover/cutting board, instead of that camp sink
Where did you get a mattress to fit the Murphy bed?
What is the brand of the hoses?
BLU Technologies… just did that video! ua-cam.com/video/5bn6dOAGpl8/v-deo.html
Yes, they’re using Azdel in these units.
Great video. Candid and clear. Considering a downsize and this trailer looks viable. Nice!😊
What is the thread pitch and size for the quick connects on the city water connection in the wet bay?
Great review, would have liked to actually seen the bathroom sink, have not seen one like that. And yes a mirror above the bathroom sink with a long wire basket🤗
I realized I hadn’t shown the sink after production… 😣
@@WanderingWeekends No problem, if ya think about just show us another time🤗
So I guess losing the cabinets Over the Bar is necessary for bigger window I guess I'm that's okay maybe some slim shelf above that window would be useful.
Rear storage - move the light to the top so the light shines down on the small space
Kitchen - small window behind the cooktop.
Adding them is a more involved process than just screwing in a few screws.
... and Chad generally appears on another channel... haha... we love them BTW...
@@WanderingWeekends 😂😂🤦♂️ that’s what happens when I use UA-cam to stay away on the midnight shift. My apologies to Cory.
But that’s good to know about the hooks! We use the command stripes ones. Easy on, easy off with no damage or holes.
I met Townlee (idk how to spell it) yesterday she was so sweet y’all are so cool I already miss her 😊
I’m sure she enjoyed meeting you too!
Did you weigh the tongue with propane, batteries, and water? If so, what was it? I’m trying to figure out if the TV I want to use has enough payload for this trailer. I looked at one last weekend I thought it was a very efficient use of space.
I don’t load water. Completely loaded I’m around 625lbs. Love this little rig!
@@WanderingWeekends , thanks. The fresh tank is located on top of or behind the rear axle, right?
Curious if your replacement mattress is hinged like the crappy stock one? We just bought a 2022 Imagine XLS 21BHE and are looking for something more comfortable than the stock one...
No it’s not hinged but it’s doing great. Here is a vid I did about it. RESIDENTIAL Mattress in an RV Murphy Bed?? I Tried It and It Works GREAT

What about some coat hooks on the back side of the Murphy bed 😮
I really like the look of this unit. I have a GMC Canyon with the 2.8 Duramax and was curious about towing a unit of this size. I would have plenty of towing capacity, but payload will be my deciding factor. What is your actual loaded hitch weight running?
550 with full water.
Thank you. That’s great news.
Nice review! I think a shelf would not work as you would have to remove items every time you put bed down, right?
Yep! Thought about that when editing. Seems like we can figure out something for that area though.
We just put down a deposit on a new 2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 23 LDE. we are super excited this is our second GD product.
Congrats!!
In aim mindset.. take the bathroom sink out. 1 sink is enough in that space. Plenty of wall space for mirror n hooks in its place
I don’t disagree at all!
Estimated price and date available?
Great question. I’ll update when I learn that info.
Sorry I will check and make sure everything is in the unit next time I bring one. Randy
Oh don’t sweat it man!! Things get missed. You do an outstanding job!! I hate I missed you this time.
I like it . Does it have a heated underbelly ? We’d like that for our winter trips .
Yes!
I’m not sure. Mattresses are so subjective half of the folks would still switch.
Navy ships.
No windows in the bunk areas
Boondocking Options: Solar panels, high-clearance, well-insulated, heavier-duty suspension, etc.
Meh… I hear what you’re saying but that’s gonna start getting real crowded. Haha.
@@WanderingWeekends
Yes, but as someone who slept in cramped quarters onboard an aircraft carrier, I think a case can be made that a camper is just a "glorified tent"
"Join the Navy and See the
World".
@@shawnj3525 was checking cable ways thru berthing one day and one of the sailors asked what I was doing. Told him we getting measurements to stack bunks 4 high. Guys came rolling out of bunks left and right saying "NOO don't do that." I laughed and told them just checking cable ways.
Since you have that huge counter stop , I would eliminate the slide. I prefer the storage cabinets above the counter space and cabinets below. Don't need stuff falling out of the shelves below and looking shoved in. Would have to keep it neat. Hook are an easy fix to add on your own. Bathroom Definitely needs lots of work. .Mirror below the TV is not good for a girl with her make up and hair styling.
Nice little unit definitely need a sink and shelf in bathroom.
Btw… that’s not how you spell New York Yankees on your shirt!
Lol
I believe the spelling of Yankees has changed over the past several years C-H-O-K-E is the new spelling correct??
@@WanderingWeekends lol
Guess I deserve that!!
Go Dawgs! 😂🤣
oh sorry I see there are two lights in the bathroom
This would be pretty perfect for my wife and I if you could delete the bunkhouse and make the bathroom bigger
They have a few couples floorplans!
@@WanderingWeekends thank you for the reply. I'll check it out. It's just my wife and I traveling. It's been a bit difficult finding a smaller rig that has a decent bathroom.
No shelf. You can't get into the drawers with a shelf in the way unless it is on a bracket that slips on the top like an over the door hanger. We put backpacks and suites under the bed overhang.
Don't like that it's a single axle even for that length of a camper I think the double axle will give you better control and more Comfort on the ride
Tows like a dream. I get what you’re saying but that isn’t what this line is about. Several advantages to a single axle too.
I could pull that with my canyon . That’d be even better than with the 3500 .
Tows like a landscape trailer… and I mean that in the best way.
Keep the doors below the bar, just change hardware…..no slide out for me….come up with a better sink design, nice little unit overall
Center the toilet and get rid of the sjnk.
No shelf, magnetic white board.
Nice rig 👍 Does it tow as well as a dual axle? That’s the only concerning thing I see. We’ve been running our 22mle and love love love it!!!
Tows wonderfully. Just the ball and it’s tracking great. I’m town on whether to use a sway reducing hitch. Probably will but so far it’s been great without
@@WanderingWeekends what truck are you towing with?
The 7.3 F250
Hehehe looks like a sardine Can. In my opinion, hehehe my opinion is way to small for 4 people. BUT, if that is all you can afford it will work. I like my space and more. I am old and like what I like. HEHEHE
Haha… we know how you roll Tim!
Needs way more payload. 700lbs isn’t enough for a family of 4. If need be they need to add an axle at least. And offer a dinette as an option and I’d buy one in a heartbeat
Unless the payload number I saw was wrong. But offer this with a dinette and everything the same and I’m sold
Over 1600lbs of payload.
I’m betting that’s about all a gas truck can pull..lol.
Haha… I hear ya… at least I’m not worried about shortages… 🤣
Be Aware - In a single axel a Blowout is a BAD THING ? Pay MONGO ATTENTION to your tires - they are two of your Best Friends ! 👍
I’d argue is always important to pay attention to your tires. 🤓🤓
the bathroom looks like it would be dark at night with that shower curtain
… simple fix … keep it open
A little bigger Refrigerator
If only they would put a double axle
As I mentioned in the video… that’s not what the AIM line is. XLS or Imagine line for the 4 wheelers.
