Kane vs. Austin in a first blood match wasn’t a goof. It was a part of the story that Kane’s face was covered up. He even wore a special version of his suit that night with two sleeves instead of the usual single sleeve, so that every part of him was completely protected. This was to stack the deck against Austin even more (remember Kane was an instrument of McMahon at the time).
The fans were PISSED that night when Austin lost the title. Pretty shocking they did that right in the middle of Austin's first title run and arguably the height of his popularity. Still, they made it right the next night when he won the title back.
@@taffysaur Having a story doesn't automatically make something not stupid. If there was ever an angle you didn't like there was probably a story behind it, right? That said, it is highly opinion based so if you liked it then cool but Mick wasn't a fan.
I can listen to this guy talk for days. All those insane bumps he took so he didnt stink up the joint, it makes my day now on the outside getting all the stories from outside the ring.
I found an original copy of "Beyond the mat" the other day at a thrift store, still has the single page insert inside and everything. It's gonna go great with my 4 faces of Foley pop set and lunchbox. Now I just need a good mask.
Im a huge Austin fan. Nr 1 by a long shot. But if i ever were to meet one of my heroes for a chat i think Foley is my guy. I love Mick and i think he really is a down to earth guy that i could talk and listen to for hours.
I love when Mick talks about being scared to bomb vs trying to go for it. In sports psychology is called approaching success vs avoiding failure and makes a HUGE difference in athletes. Especially ones that have any sort of performance anxiety, or other mental health issues
My Friday morning is set... Mrs. Foley's baby boy and the Bionic Redneck! This should be awesome Gentleman Chris Adams should be a legend just for the superkick alone, his was a thing of beauty... And then he brought us Steve Austin...Give that man a lifetime achievement award!
Everyone thinks Foley's best "fire and ice" pairing was Rock and Sock with The Rock. To me, I think it was his tag team pairing and on screen work with Austin. It gave us Dude Love for God sakes; plus it had Foley as a heel and baby face.
Yes. It's one thing to get to the top of the wrestling business. These guys got to the top and then took the top even further up these guys were household names in a way that wrestlers just do not attain anymore.
Austin the GOAT. And despite what Hunter and WWE say, Foley is right up there. One of the best of all time and sacrificed so much for the fans and his fellow wrestlers. Mick made guys like Rock, Hunter, and even Orton. Long live Foley.
HAVE A NICE DAY!!! BANG BANG!!!! Love you Mick since King Of The Ring 98(Hell In The Cell Mankind Vs The Undertaker) I was 13 at time. WWF Attitude GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mick might of put his body through hell but his art work is timeless and he can be content with not wrestling anymore when you see other old wrestlers still getting in the ring at a old age and stinking the place up. They don't want to be forgotten. Foley will never be forgotten. And he's enjoying life after wrestling knowing that he could never be duplicated.
one of my favorites yet, but really no matter the topic, Micks storytelling is what we enjoy all of em 4. OWWWWWWWWWWWW have MERRRRRCAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Rumble 2000 is a classic. Shame these days Hunter doesnt give that match or Foley very much credit in MAKING him. Foley is top 5 easily and hes almost never talked about in the current product, meanwhile they shoehorn HHH and lameass DX into everything.
It's funny that I only knew Austin at first as the guy who real-life "stole" Chris Adams' wife as a result of an angle. Of course, this would not be the first or last time that this happened.
When I first started in the business I would take the Nestea plunge to get eliminated from every battle royal I was in. I was just desperate to get noticed... nobody noticed. I'm stupid lol PS- No injuries for me, but I'm half Mick's size. Just serious soreness.
I love how Mick talks about the DDT and selling moves the right way for the right amount of time. If anyone who thinks a DDT is total bs should watch Jake the Snake plant Ricky Steamboat on the floor. The crack of Ricky's skull when he hits is unsettling.
Mick, love the pod brother. Listen to it every week. I would never say anything to disparage you but please man, I’m begging you, please stop retelling the same stories every single week. I’m not even blaming you because if Conrad was a real friend he would either cut you off and let you know or edit it out. I’m probably gonna get attacked in the comments but I never read them so I don’t care. That is all. Sorry if I came off like an asshole.
It's kinda strange, it's almost like WCW and WWF worked out a trade in the mid 90s... WWF's 80s and early 90s main eventers for WCW's midcard guys they had no use for now that they had Hogan, Savage, etc. And we know who got the better deal there.
I’m skimming through somewhat, but did they totally skip over the matches Foley had with Austin at Unforgiven and Over the edge 98? Wasn’t expecting that
Mick I am curious if you want to know where Austin's meeting was are you cool enough to text him? Maybe it's none of my business but in my head you guys are best buds still and keep in touch.
ovrall rock has had a great career in hollywood ect and rock was a huge star in wwf/e but he doesnt come close to Austin no one has been as over as Austin Stone cold is the GOAT
Wrestlers should have unionized. Hogan killed it, and stuff like this reinforces it. Play the big guys against the little guys. Tell the little guys they'll get paid more if they work harder while you exploit them.
The superkick and the ten punches in the corner are the moves that thought me that wrestling was a work, I was in single digits when I realized that actually doing these things would likely kill a person.
Austin will always be the biggest at top superstar in Wrestling with Hogan a close second. Than in whatever order you want Flair, Rock, Taker, HBK, Hart, Cena, Punk and Roman... Then your Foleys, DB, Angle, HHH, Sting, Hall, Nash, Macho, Lesnar, Goldberg, Jericho, etc... Then your Kanes, Guerrero, Benoit, Rollins, KO, Styles, I'd put Vader, honestly maybe Sid, Luger, Steiner etc...
I love Nash and Sean, but Mrs Foley baby boy is a hardcore legend and so much more but doesn't have 5X as many subs as Nash Come on people, sub to Mick and spread the word and tie him up with Nash!!!
I'm the only one who thinks The Ringmaster isn't THAT shitty off a gimmick name. It's fine. Other guys have overcome MUCH shittier gimmicks that were foist upon them. Not sure why it's seen as a near career killer.
I loved Mick since I was 8 years old and I am 40 now!
Clearly one of the greatest!
Shit he was cool when I was 7. I’m 30
Mick Foley - I've had a million concussions
Also Foley... remembers the exact date of every match in the last 25 years
Who else would love to see a docu-series following Mick & Austin's rise to the top?
@PaPa Shango mic would never, you're tripping
there is a dvd called the early years with austin and mick double disc
Can never get enough Austin or Foley documentaries!!

I still think a Last Man Standing match would've been better.
He didn't say it was a goof. He said the concept was stupid overall

Love this podcast, it's a weekly tune in on fridays, cant miss it, keep up the superd work mr Foley
To whoever designs the thumbnails for Mr. Foley's podcast, salute. Creative and eye-catching.
Agreed! This one especially kicks ass!

Foley is the man, love his attitude, aura, stories, viewpoint, and life experiences are one of a kind!
Two of my All Time FAVORITE Wrestlers!!! Both have the best "runs" and matches in the industry!!! Sooo many firsts done by Foley an Austin!
Love this podcast. One of my favorites. Congrats fellas on another great episode!
I didn't even know my childhood hero had a podcast until just now.
Get with the progrum kid!
Loved this!
Mick, my kids and I are gonna be at the Rumble. Would LOVE to see/meet you. Hope you’re there.

That one PPV, King of the Ring 1996, was (and it's debatable), the official start of the "Attitude Era".

Psyched for this: an early Christmas present for us all.

Hey Mick! Love your podcast!
The Austin K.O. match was a great final match for Steve bc he was able to still look good without being completely exposed due to age
His final match was with Hollywood Rock at Wrestlemania 19 in 2003. Not sure who this KO fellow is, but to each his own.
@@Rschr101 He wrestled KO at Wrestlemania 38. The match is on youtube, Austin looked good.

Austin stopped over in ECW just long enough to steal Mikey and Sandman's gimmicks 😂😂
Mikey?

There’s no stealing a gimmick. There is selling a gimmick, and Austin sold it best. So it’s his.
