- One of the questions I get asked most often is how I achieve my black background photos. And seeing as they’re super simple, but super effective, I thought I’d create a quick, easy video tutorial to show you how I do it.
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe. It's free!

Superb thank you 🙂👌📸
I still refer back to your tutorial the odd time I'm asked to create a black background shot. But now that Lightroom has the masking and not adjustment brushes I can't figure it out. Do you have an updated tutorial? I love how easy you make it.
This was so helpful and really interesting. I've never learnt about editing and after watching this am keep to learn more! Are you self taught?x
Hi Izzy. Yes, I'm completely self taught, with everything from shooting, to editing, to running a business.
Thank you very much❤️❤️
What program/software do you use and what computer or laptop do you use?
Thanks for sharing. I took this information and tried to do it myself on one of my photos. I copied everything exactly but instead of the brush painting black it only goes to a gray color. Do you have any ideas as to why? I have been googling it and looking for reasons why it won't go black (exposure being all the way down) but I cannot find any information. Thanks!
what program do you use?
What app do you use?
What camera settings did you use on this?
Are you using any artifical lighting?
No. Exactly as shown, all natural light.
