Thanks for the very helpful video. I have the same model jointer and I am contemplating making this upgrade. For anyone making this upgrade, once you have everything apart, it's a perfect time to spend a few minutes performing some essential maintenance tasks, such as: deep cleaning the unit, cleaning and regreasing the bed rails and handwheel screws, replacing the drive belt, and reconditioning the two jointer beds. I'd also recommend that you take the time to recalibrate everything. Actually, even if you don't end up making this type of upgrade, you should perform the essential maintenance tasks every few years.
I just brought this jointer home new today. As you can see, I'm already looking up this helical cutter head. I should have just bought the version with the helical head to start with. Great video, thank you
Just finished this same thing. I just want to let everyone know that a bearing puller And a gear puller are not necessary. I was able to accomplish this on an older machine same model Without anything special. It only took five minutes to take everything apart
@@BobAmarant hi! The bearing was pulled up symmetrically with light pressure from the shafts of screwdrivers. I slowly eased them loose and I checked the bearing. Absolutely no damage or evidence of marks. I have a new set of bearings and all dimensions same.
Caveat emptor! On mine 2 oem pullies do not fit shelix shaft and depth of keyway is not correct and key does not fit. I brought to attention during warranty and manufacturer will not fix.

Thank you for sharing this video I have the same jointer and am going to replace the head this evening. I appreciate you sharing this.
Im trying to get the courage to do the same on my jointer.... Thanks for the know how!
Go for it, it’s a bit of a pain but well worth the hour it takes.
Nice joiner! I can see why that would be a better head.
Take care of the rust while you’re at it.
it looks like you need to adjust the outfeed table to match the height of the cutter head.
You’re exactly right, did that the next day. Thanks for the comment.

Wow, how did you pull the bearing then?

Bought one of these used and i cant get my infeed table to raise. Any tips on how to repair this?
Check for sawdust in the screws. Maybe call their customer support next. Thanks.

Just loosen motor bolts. Dont stretch your belt.
