I admire the beauty of your work. I am amazed how you manipulate your pastells. I hope you are not freezing in Mississippi. Huntsville, Alabama is miserably cold. Stay safe and warm!
I had no idea there were cows in Florida I saw in one of your other videos. I really like when you show us around what you do and what It looks like there. My husband and I also have a conversion van that makes me so happy.
That is such great feedback sweetheart sometimes I wonder if I’m boring people so it’s nice to know the photos are appreciated. lol!! That’s neat that you have a conversion van as well! And yes there are lots of cows in Florida. There are quite a few cattle ranches.
Good evning Mrs S/Jenkins Beautiful your new demo with strong color emotions from the sky continue ι watch you I have finished one of my own when I photograph it I will send it to you I wish you good night
Beautiful work. Love the hint of turquoise in the sky and color of the distant trees too. Love the whole thing. During the sped up portion toward the end, I enjoyed the reflective music with bird songs. Sending you warm and caring thoughts at this difficult time. Take good care, know you are being thought of.
Oops, just saw your video is very imformtive and the listings as well/ Thank you so much, you are an amazing artist. I am so happy to learn from you. :)
Thanks and let me share links for you here. Also, the sheets I use to protect the pastel paintings are either "Glassine" or "Tracing Paper" (which is cheaper). @@monetcafe Thank you, you are very kind. I did see it in the video, but it helps when it's stated on the listing so its just makes it easy for dummies like me. :) I am so grateful for discovering your chanel. You are a great teacher. I love the way you explain every stroke and the approach behind it. Truly an artist.
Hi Mrs Jenkins 😊 This is an awesome lesson I must say, from the supplies to the lesson itself. I don't usually use assorted colors, for me off white or ochre is fine but I never used black sheet. I'll order it soon on Amazon. Canson as I consider itself is very fine brand. Thnx ma'am for the lesson ☺️, anish said hii. I hope that ur mum in law is fine. Love and regards to u from India ❤️. Great tip to stay with the natural feel and built it slowly. I went immediately to smudging, on another painting, and it looks dusty and dull. I guess I need fixative. :) I am totally new to pastels. I like the oil Pastels as they are very versatile. But I am fascinated with this new media and watercolor now.
Hi Susan, beautiful composition w/pastels. I have a black Canson art book using it for some of my collages. I ran across my pastel chalk sticks, can I use them for starters? I played with a few colors doing abstract. I want to learn more about pastel art focusing on landscapes&abstract!! Thank you for inspiring this new journey!!
I think it would be great to try some of your pastels to start with in your black Canson art book. You can’t get many layers on regular drawing paper, but you know create some lovely color and have some fun.
I think the Lord had a hand today: I had used liquid gesso this morning to ready a piece of black mat board and low and behold here is a lesson on painting on black!
Hi Susan, I am new to your channel and love it. I am new to pastels, I got a set of sennelier oil pastels and have no idea how to use them. Can you do a video about them. Thank you for all the info you share.
Hi Tati, I actually don’t use oil pastels but soft pastels. A lot of the artistic principles that I teach will work for both mediums though. I’m hoping to create a Monet Cafe starter Pastels set sometime soon and I’ll be sure to post when it’s available.
Hi, can I ask what kind of paper You are using there to protect your pictures ? Is it glassine or oven proof paper ? If it isn’t the latter would the latter work ? Thanks so much.. Brand new beginner.
Hi Sha... those are great questions and I often use glassine, but recently I’ve been using tracing paper. It’s a lot cheaper. I wouldn’t recommend oven paper because we want to make sure the papers are acid free and don’t contain anything that would cause the painting to yellow overtime. So tracing paper seems to be the best and most affordable option. I love helping beginners so don’t hesitate to ask any other questions. And if you haven’t joined the Monet café art group on Facebook, you should because you can get so much help.
@@monetcafe thanks Susan for your generous answer. So, tracing paper it will be then . Thanks also for the offer of Facebook but I have a strong aversion to it so I won’t be seeing You there...
Praying for you and your family and your Mother-in-law. May she be healed by JESUS OUR LIVING RISEN CHRIST WHO heals us all. Beautiful work of art. GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS ALWAYS.
I feel as though painting on dark paper brings a different sort of beauty to the work. Love this and all of your work!

I loved how you did this painting and the beautiful colours that you used a lovely picture.

Susan I have been leary of painting on dark paper but this is breathtaking!! Beautiful!!
Thanks Tiffany, it was fun. It feels a bit backwards at first working on dark paper, but you get the hang of it after a while.
I love your intro it is so personal. On another note, I have a Boston Terrier Maxwell
Awwww!!! Aren’t Boston’s the best?! And I love the name, Maxwell.

Thanks for the info about gesso making a ground for pastels. Can’t wait to try this! I love your tutorials!
You're so welcome! Be sure to use the CLEAR Gesso and not regular gesso. It's the one with the texture :)
Praying for your family!
