I told him the stats on the Suzuki's quarter mile. He then changed the challenge to a race from LA to Vegas. I just laughed and said I would only do the race if he put up his "pink slip" for his Harley! He declined.
Impressive that the Harley reached the end of the track without leaking oil, losing parts or breaking something... But at least it shakes like a Top Fuel!

I can see a lot of people haven't been to a track to test something. You're not racing the other lane unless you agreed to it before and even then it doesn't matter. Suzuki is there to test his build and improve his launch. Harley-davidson guy just having fun . Everything needs to be a competition these days.
This is actually a great comparison of old vs new technology. We get roughly a mile/hour faster for each year between the first Harley and the first Hayabusa. And about four minutes quicker for the advancements, which in my opinion is totally pointless. Thank you for uploading!
As much as the Hog is dirt slow by bike standards, a 13.5 pass is definitely entry sports car territory; about equivalent to a Challenger R/T. He'll be able to leave 90% of vehicles on the road at a stoplight with that. It's no race machine, but even a slow bike is pretty brisk.

That's already not-bad, enough to drop most regular small-block cars from the muscle car era (but not the special ones like Z28 or Boss 302). As I said above, a 5.7 Challenger or Charger does about 13.5 all-stock.

To be fair, I was really impressed by the Harley - it managed the whole quarter mile under it's own steam! That's a fair ole distance for one of them as "Chrome doesn't always get you home ya know." (If you where there you'd know the track had to be shut and cleaned due to oil carry over from the Harley breather system - apparently.)
and also a 1000 lbs steel tank vs 100 lbs plastic with just as big of engine. and tell the truth tho the harleys torque at low end kept right up at first takeoff. it takes massive power to pull a 1000 pounds from a stop that quick it really does not take much power to move 100 pounds from a stop that quick. also a supercharger and it's only running 9sec really? weak! the vrod destroyer would kill it with less cc and no supercharger HARLEY WINS AT THE END OF THE DAY😂

I'm like you, but my thought was one is built to enjoy the road while the other is built for the rider to meet the road if he tries to hit those speeds on normal roads and traffic. I've seen my share of young invincible riders hotdogging on the interstate.

I'm not a big fan of sport bikes myself, they are pretty uncomfortable to ride for extended periods of time and for some reason every time you put someone on one they decide to go 100 over the speed limit and then complain that drivers aren't seeing them. I don't ride Harleys either because they are overvalued and way too hot when you're stuck in traffic, on top of that every time you put someone on a Harley they end up straight piping it and revving it every chance they get while looking around to see who pays attention. I got myself a Suzuki M109R, boss Edition, I did not modify the exhaust because I don't want to be obnoxious and I don't rev because I don't have a need to unless I need to rev match while downshifting, even then you can just easily let off the clutch and she will downshift nicely regardless of rev matching. She keeps cool and she looks good. In the end it's just about having those two wheels and that engine and being on the open road, I don't care what you ride just so as long as you have respect for other people on that road and understand that a road is not a Raceway, also have a bit of respect for people in their homes and in residential areas, revving your relatively small engine on straight pipes only impresses the 1%, pisses everyone else off

Yuelin Fan the wistle you get from reving a Vtwin is irresistable man that's why. Vtwin engines unlike I4 seem to be happiest around a certain rpm and you should keep it around there for the bike to both sound nice and respond well. inline 4 on the other hand have wider range of power bands.
Ross Fuller first of all what he is referrinf to is short revs of less than 1 second ... ans i am telling you the Vtwin idles aroun 600 but sounds amazing at 2000 as it is the rpm at which "the bike is happy" that's why he revs it up, it starta whisteling a beautidul sounding whistle it doesnt sound like a reved up sports bike which pretty much reaches cutoff in a second and deafens everyone around

I'm like you, but my thought was one is built to enjoy the road while the other is built for the rider to meet the road if he tries to hit those speeds on normal roads and traffic. I've seen my share of young invincible riders hotdogging on the interstate.

I'm not a big fan of sport bikes myself, they are pretty uncomfortable to ride for extended periods of time and for some reason every time you put someone on one they decide to go 100 over the speed limit and then complain that drivers aren't seeing them.
I don't ride Harleys either because they are overvalued and way too hot when you're stuck in traffic, on top of that every time you put someone on a Harley they end up straight piping it and revving it every chance they get while looking around to see who pays attention.
I got myself a Suzuki M109R, boss Edition, I did not modify the exhaust because I don't want to be obnoxious and I don't rev because I don't have a need to unless I need to rev match while downshifting, even then you can just easily let off the clutch and she will downshift nicely regardless of rev matching. She keeps cool and she looks good.
In the end it's just about having those two wheels and that engine and being on the open road, I don't care what you ride just so as long as you have respect for other people on that road and understand that a road is not a Raceway, also have a bit of respect for people in their homes and in residential areas, revving your relatively small engine on straight pipes only impresses the 1%, pisses everyone else off

Yuelin Fan the wistle you get from reving a Vtwin is irresistable man that's why. Vtwin engines unlike I4 seem to be happiest around a certain rpm and you should keep it around there for the bike to both sound nice and respond well. inline 4 on the other hand have wider range of power bands.

Ross Fuller first of all what he is referrinf to is short revs of less than 1 second ... ans i am telling you the Vtwin idles aroun 600 but sounds amazing at 2000 as it is the rpm at which "the bike is happy" that's why he revs it up, it starta whisteling a beautidul sounding whistle it doesnt sound like a reved up sports bike which pretty much reaches cutoff in a second and deafens everyone around
