Hey Conlin! I’ve been a subscriber and watcher for a while. I haven’t commented until now and was inspired to due to your speech about community and connecting on UA-cam. I love your enthusiasm for comics, and your taste in covers. I enjoy hearing you talk about the colors and composition. I’ve been a reader for almost 40 years, crazy to see that number in writing, I don’t feel that old, but your pure love of this medium inspires me. I’ve made a couple of documentaries about comics and I still get my new issues every Wednesday. I love the form. The joy I see on your channel helps me love it even more!

I don't know if you ever gave a second thought about looking into Superman 123. The issue has what's considered a "Supergirl tryout" issue in 1958, an entire year before Action Comics #252. It's a pretty cool cover with Superman holding up the tracks while Supergirl pulls the train across. It's an interesting conversation piece because it is not considered her first appearance, even though she is right there on the cover.
I had not seen that, but I just looked it up! And I agree, while that may not be the first appearance of his cousin, that version of supergirl, it definitely is a "supergirl" as a character first appearance
@@ConlinsComics Just to engage further with this topic... by the logic of her not being Superman's cousin "Kara Zor-El", so it's not really Supergirl's first appearance. Would that then mean that House of Secrets 92 would not be the Swamp Thing's first appearance, because it's not Alec Holland? Anyway, just making comic conversation.
@rodnicker I think if the "characters" themselves appeared, with correct name, atleast hero identity, and look, then it's the 1st appearance. Later the characters were changed and fleshed out, but they are still that character. The swampthing is a great example because while I haven't read it, I hear that character in HOS92 is also nothing Ike the swampthing everyone knows and loves know, but unlike supergirl, everyone still says 1st appearance
Thor #158 is a beaut! 🤩and got to love the Action Comics #374 🎉 Some Kirby goodness Captain! Have to say that this haul of yours was absolutely awesome! Some really nice DC stuff!
As soon as I saw that Thor I knew I had to have it! Doesn't matter the run or character, I can never resist Jack Kirby or Neal Adams goodness. Thanks for the kind words and I've been digging your videos as well, keep it up!

That's one of the things I love about the Showcase run, that it quite literally would showcase new characters throughout the run and try out new things and tones!
Man what an awesome silver age haul! You definitely persuaded me to look out for Brave and the Bold, those were some awesome books. And to share what I’m focusing on collecting this year for DC is anything Batman, Flash, Swamp Thing, and a side of Teen Titans and Demon. For Marvel it’s Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and Daredevil. As well as anything Star Wars and Walking Dead…..And this is why I’m broke😂😂😂. Have definitely thought about switching it up next year to collect other series/runs I’ve been eyeing on.
We've got the same problem man lol For DC we're pretty much on the same page but I've resisted swamp thing so far. For marvel I would like ghost riders 1st appearance but for daredevil I've been thinking of doing the 1st 50 issues. Like you said, liking so many titles and characters aintttttt cheap lol

I love the Inferior Five.They fll into the wonderfully silly books that I have always liked. I also have that Brave and Bold Black Canary and Starman
