I immediately started drawing an idea for a young girl living with her parent and a Guardian and Snuggler. Then I realised how absolutely awful I laid out the animals because the fins overlapped in the drawing and I'd already started the lineart so I left it. (The girl ends up being an amazing swimmer from playing in the nearby river with the animals and the Guardian is extra protective of her since he was there since she was a baby)
I know these babies primarily exist to be your channel mascots, but my writer brain is in world building mode trying to figure out what a world with them in it would look like. >w

I am primarily thinking from a fantasy perspective atm, so I think that, even though they're just as likely to end up living with landlocked species like humans, their first and still most frequent sapient companions would be other (semi) aquatic species like mermaids.
Okay, now I’m torn. On one hand, the Guardians are the perfect guard dogs and I wouldn't be afraid of living alone. Nor will I ever fear the ocean again if I were to travel through it. Not to mention I bet they would be awesome to hug. But on the other hand, the Snugglers are travel size and I don’t have to worry about them snapping at people. Callimara, how dare you create such a beautiful species?! 😆
False Axolotls sounds like something used in the reptile trade, like False Chameleons which aren't actually a species of Chameleon, but an Anole, and are actually closely related to Iguanas. :)
I feel like there would always unfortunately be some nobles who were abused in show business. I would probably rescue an abused or older noble. But if I couldn't, I would try to go for a Guardian-Snuggler.
Hey this isn't super important but I though I'd mention that I think what you made is what people typically call a open species! Closed more so implies it is closed to the public, and that you can only get one from purchasing it from the species' creator(s). Open means its open for anyone to use it ((Also unrelated but I thought I'd just add that there is also semi-open, where people can make something from the species but more rare traits are locked off or extra regulations are placed))
I love making up names for characters so I hope you like the names I took inspiration from the "Water babies" that you said in the end of the video "Aquatic Cherubs" Aquatic cause water, and Cherubs cause apparently some people call babies like that? Also, cause Cherubs themselves are like baby angels, also picked the name cause the designs visually reminded me of "The Cherubs" from Helluva boss If the Cherubs part sounds kinda weird than no worries! Cause apparently theirs another way people call Cherubs which is "Amorini" So they could also be called "Aquatic Armorinis" (I like to imagine that their Scientific name name is "Aquatic Armorinis" but people just call them "Aquatic Cherubs" or "Aquatic babies" cause its eaiser to say) The word Armorini for some reason reminded me of the word "Armonia," its a spanish word that means "Harmony"
Just a heads up, while most ppl think cherubs are those winged babies (like cupid), those are actually puttos. Cherubs look more like the classic biblical angels, with four faces and four wings. But honestly that might be more accurate, as these guys can both be small and cute or big defenders. So Cherubs still work I think lol
Wow, there's something about all four breeds that I love and I don't know which one I would want. The Nobles and Striders are very pretty and eye-catching; I love ethereal and celestial aesthetics, but they wouldn't be easy to take care of. Although a Strider would be a great excuse to get me to walk around the nearby park. Guardians are a cross between a workhorse and a guard dog, which would be awesome, especially since we need the extra help in the back yard. Also the perfect companion for going to the beach, because I am terrified of the ocean, so having one with me would make me feel at ease. Snugglers are just our cats, because they won't leave me alone when I'm trying to do something, but I still love them.
I would probably have a snuggler or the crossbreed Guardian-Snuggler. I hope I can draw one soon playing with my species, which are also axolotl based🥰

Having breed categories like dogs just makes me want to conceptualize more variants. You have guard, show, sport, and toy breeds basically. So I may take a moment or two figuring out what can be done to make like herding breeds "similar probably to your guardians, but less territorial and more high strung like collies and sheep dogs", small/medium/big game hunting breeds "small game/vermin/pest hunting like beagles/ terriers or shiba, medium game like wolfhounds/ bluetick coonhound and pointers, and big game like Karelian Bear Dog/ Dogo Argentino" Maybe make a semi wild breed like what has become somewhat popular with wolfdogs and wild cat hybrids, in an attempt to get a pet that looks wild but behaves more like a domestic breed. "in general these wild hybrids are a bad choice for most owners as they do tend to be highly independent, strong willed, require lots of exercise, tend to be very large, and have much stronger predatory instincts than domestic counterparts, making them a biting hazard/ territorial/ and prone to testing boundaries. and their diets can be quite different from their domestic counterparts. most wolf dogs have a hard time digesting grains that domestic breeds have gotten used to after millenniums of breeding, so bag dog food will usually make them ill as it contains a lot of wheat and corn. So, as pretty as they are, you would have to be highly experienced and very patient to properly raise one" Could also just run off of the AKC's "American Kennel Club" breed categories of herding, hounds, sporting, spotters, non spotting, terrier, toy, working, and miscellaneous.

They tend to prefer warmer temperatures, but they adapt pretty quickly to colder climates too. The most important thing is that they have access to water so they don't get dehydrated! I don't think they can regenerate like axolotls though.
I AM SPEED Edit: I probably vibe most with the Snugglers, but the Nobles are undeniably stunning. I have to wonder what a Snuggler Noble would be like. o.o

I find this kinda funny because these creatures remind me of my own type of animal I made in health class after seeing a growing embryo (I cannot remember what animal the embryo belonged to), as we were talking about the reproductive system. My creature, (I call it an Aury after my friend miss spelled my name miserably), of course, has many differences, such as laying eggs in the water. Though they both can live in water and on land, although preferring water. But, yeah, this reminds me of my own. So, yeah. Cool. I like your art!

id go for a noble snuggler, an accidental breed that was a result of a noble getting cross breed with a snuggler because a newbie didnt know how to tell nobles and snugglers apart, the result is a long fin but cute little guy that has the best qualitys if not a bit expensive to take care of!

This is making me have a whole world building session in my head already. I love these critters. Also is it possible when I'm designing one of these creatures they can have missing fins or scars from fights if they ever get in one or birth defects? I would add a breed that does rescue. Like service dogs. So like very physically adapt but also social. And maybe less playfull so they can work more efficiently
I would love to see a strider-snuggler mixed breed, mainly because I love long dogs, and because I like pets that re just as down for snuggles as much as pets that want to play.
I wonder if its possible that there could be like these really mixed version of these water babies. Imagine asking a kid what kind of water baby that they have and they just say like, "Well its a qaurter noble, a fifth snuggler, a quarter strider, and four-fifths Gaurdians and that they found it in the street."Like that would be hilarious.
I think I'm gonna make a Strider-Snuggler crossbreed, taking inspiration from italian greyhounds. (I used to have one who was just the cutest little cuddle buddy with random zoomies) It would be a nice pet to have on a houseboat I think!
Hmm... I'm not very good at names myself, but I do think the name could have some nod to their aquatic nature... That being said, the species is wild awesome!
Since they seem to be the main pet species of the world they come from it would make sense for them to have a one syllable name like dog, cat, bird, or horse. So, we could easily take part of your name to do that and I think Mar would work perfectly because it is also the word for sea in Spanish (and probably other romantic languages) which is really fitting. Also, I guess that would make the plural Mars which is kinda cool because that was a Roman god and the 2nd closest planet to Earth. (I thought Mars was the closest because that's where all astronauts want to go which would be really fitting for man's best friend, but apparently Venus is closer).
I like the idea for a guardian and strider cross so they are big enough to ride but are built for speed -w- I’m a sucker for horses so anything that is close to that would be fun.
Imagine a noble snuggler, pretty but also family friendly. I imagine they would be less flashy, as in less gills so they're not just for rich or devoted people, but they're still pretty and very friendly. Still snarky, though. "So you.. eat this, human?" I'd probably have a snuggler or guardian snuggler and call it Dousanj though (Dous is sweet and anj is angel, both in Kreyol)

This is making me have a whole world building session in my head already. I love these critters. Also is it possible when I'm designing one of these creatures they can have missing fins or scars from fights if they ever get in one or birth defects? Im really digging nobles, guardian's and smugglers. Would love to crossbreed these three. Maybe I could have a flashy medium sized and aggressive and protective hydrake.
I would add a breed that does rescue. Like service dogs. So like very physically adapt but also social. And maybe less playfull so they can work more efficiently
I would love to see a strider-snuggler mixed breed, mainly because I love long dogs, and because I like pets that re just as down for snuggles as much as pets that want to play.

I wonder if its possible that there could be like these really mixed version of these water babies. Imagine asking a kid what kind of water baby that they have and they just say like, "Well its a qaurter noble, a fifth snuggler, a quarter strider, and four-fifths Gaurdians and that they found it in the street."Like that would be hilarious.
I think I'm gonna make a Strider-Snuggler crossbreed, taking inspiration from italian greyhounds. (I used to have one who was just the cutest little cuddle buddy with random zoomies) It would be a nice pet to have on a houseboat I think!
Hmm... I'm not very good at names myself, but I do think the name could have some nod to their aquatic nature...

Since they seem to be the main pet species of the world they come from it would make sense for them to have a one syllable name like dog, cat, bird, or horse. So, we could easily take part of your name to do that and I think Mar would work perfectly because it is also the word for sea in Spanish (and probably other romantic languages) which is really fitting. Also, I guess that would make the plural Mars which is kinda cool because that was a Roman god and the 2nd closest planet to Earth. (I thought Mars was the closest because that's where all astronauts want to go which would be really fitting for man's best friend, but apparently Venus is closer).

I like the idea for a guardian and strider cross so they are big enough to ride but are built for speed -w- I’m a sucker for horses so anything that is close to that would be fun.

Imagine a noble snuggler, pretty but also family friendly. I imagine they would be less flashy, as in less gills so they're not just for rich or devoted people, but they're still pretty and very friendly. Still snarky, though. "So you.. eat this, human?"
I'd probably have a snuggler or guardian snuggler and call it Dousanj though (Dous is sweet and anj is angel, both in Kreyol)
