Had the same issue. The problem is in the power button. It's not working correctly. What worked for me was I opened the phone and removed motherboard (not hard at all, there are tutorials on YT). Then I used cotton swab sprayed it with WD-40 (or similar liquid) and pressed a lot of times on the button and moist it all around. It seems the contact was reestablished. Phone now turns on normally. I wish i tried it before reading bunch of post saying tap the power button as fast as you can (works for some) or tap it real hard (because I broke plastic in process) or before I ordered new battery. :) Oh well, we all learn. Just for the benefit of anyone experiencing this problem, as you may have gathered from the comments, this seems to be a power button issue. Some suggested forcefully tapping the button repeatedly. I tried that, but in the end I literally put my mouth around the button and sucked it (outwards) as hard as possible. This has fixed it, at least for the time being. I hope this helps. I think it's time for a new phone, personally!
this worked it felt kinda weird and i almost got a thumb paralisys but i could turn it on. it felt like the old cars with the hood thing to start the engine..but still it kept turning off. at least now i know how to turn it on to quickly check messages.
I don't know if you still need help but this goes out to everyone who is looking for help, what i did is i connected my nexus phone to a charger and yes it'll go into a boot loop but what i did is i just kept flickering the power button until it got to the menu i kept flickering for a minute and boom it worked just try not to turn it off :) hope this helps. Try this.. You can access fastboot mode from the phone being in a powered off state. You could go right in and then hard reset it, that would wipe out your password and everything getting you right back to factory condition like when you pulled it out from the box new. So just shut the phone completely off first. Then press and hold down both the volume up and volume down keys at the same time, like press it right in the middle and hold it down, then press the power button at the same time. That will get you right into fastboot mode. You can then wipe the phone out you can watch me reset videos on my youtube channel if you need more help! Beware it will wipe out any pictures or music and stuff you have save on it. But it will fix it for you! Hope it helps you out!

He told me the motherboard on the cell was broke and should be replace , he told me to sent it back to the company and they would repair it !! I went to get a new cell instead ...When i came home i took my old cell and smashed it on the corner of my table like some people did here .... Really Hard !!! And it juste came back to life!!! I try it yesterday but i was afraid of braking my cell so i guess i was to soft !!! Anyway ! I have a new cell home and that crappy cell that work again..End of the story !

I believe this is not a hardware problem at all. It happened to me several times and it's annoying AF. Now I tried to put it back to factory settings but this shitty phone won't turn on. I tried starting the Recovery Mode but it says "No Command". Can anyone help please?

I did not back up my photos(biggest mistake) and I was wondering if there is any way to still back up my things? The phone won't turn on so transferring the pictures with a USB won't work. My auto back up to my gmail account is on in my phone but my gmail account does not have any of my pictures. Any help please? I would really appreciate it!!

I would suggest Dropbox (you get free storage), Google photos (works through Google Plus), save on computer, or any other cloud storage. Personally I use Dropbox.
Yes I got a replacement. I can't remember exactly how many days it was but I'd say around 3-5 days and the phone was at my front door. Should be no longer than a week (if its from Google and you're ordering in the US, don't know about other countries.) You will have to have the amount of money the phone costs so you can place the order then you send the faulty phone after you get the new one. Good luck :)

This just happened to my wife's phone. The power button sticks. Try flicking the button hard a few times. Sorted it out.

This recently happened to me. And tapping or banging my phone temporarily fixes the problem so i think it's an hardware issue witg nexus 5s
Yeah I noticed if I forced the power button into a certain position it would work.
You said "temporarly fixes" ... does it come back?! because i just fixed mine by flicking hard on power button!

What was the condition like of the replacement ?
It was a brand new phone. The power button was still lose and rattled, which I think caused this problem, but so far so good
The same exact thing happened to my phone. Google is going to replace it but only with a refurbished nexus not a brand new one

Turns out its a problem with the power button. You'll have to claim a warranty through Google (if that's where you bought it from)
