So I like the exhaust note and engine sound. Why are VW so loud with road noise? Always like the idea of owning a GTI and love the look but the road noise seems to bother me a bit. Am I the only one?

I owned a 2007. It started to have some issues around year 4. Nothing catastrophic, but parts aren't as cheap as Japanese cars
my other half has one. hated them at first. more reliable than any of my fords and chevys. the golf r will be my next car!

Comfort is very silent compared to sport(if this is what you mean by normal). Hope it helps.

i mean I'd go with the SE with that base price point. but then again if the SE is gonna be near 40k you might as well get the golf R 😆. 30k for that just isn't worth it imo.

It's important to remember that the pricing is quite different in different countries. I think the GTI is relatively cheaper in Canada compared to other cars. The new Civic looks like it has has nicer materials but is *significantly* less powerful. Mazda3 again has better materials but much less performance and tech. I think the GTI is one of the best deals going for the total package of luxury and performance.
@@jeffsiemens4485 sadly affordable “drivers “ cars are a dying breed especially in NorthAmerica. The Civic you mentioned is a fantastic car but clearly has stepped away from being an enthusiast car. The car world is dominated by pedestrian SUV’s and soon to be electrics. The GTI is one of the few remaining fun cars to drive that is affordable. Cheers
