You can hear the love he had for Cilla as he sang this song. I'm sure he had a lot of regrets, and things that he would have changed if he could have. No matter his private life, I love this man's God given talent, his kindness, charisma and love for his fans and people in general. There will never be another Elvis. Thank you Ray for another great reaction. You're the best.

Priscilla said they were better as friends. She wanted a normal husband. He was Elvis. She lived with three different men over the years. One for 20 years that she had a son with. Elvis and Priscilla were very different. Looking gorgeous together but different personalities. 🤷‍♀️

    • @vicki6070
      @vicki6070 2 місяці тому

They were divorced, not separated. His girlfriend, Sheila Ryan, was also in the audience sitting next to Lisa, and he had her standup, turnaround to the audience and show them the huge ring that he just bought her. He never wanted her back. As a matter of fact, it was Prissy that asked Elvis to take her back, and he would not. Sonny W. said that Elvis told him and Prissy was hinting at a reconciliation and Elvis wanted nothing to do with it. Billy S. said that Elvis told him that he was not crossing that path again.

According to Sonny W., EP said, that Prissy was the one hinting at a reconciliation, but EP wanted nothing to do with it (paraphrased). The song was released in 12/74 and this is the first time he sang it on stage (9/74).

    • @vicki6070

@@p.j.morris EP told Kathy W. that "he knew that Prissy "never" loved him and all she wanted was a Hollywood career. (paraphrased.) EP "loved" Prissy only because she was the mother of his child. He "never" wanted to marry her in the first place. This was NOT an erotice love.
In 12/71 Prissy told EP that she wanted her freedom. EP already knew about Mike S. Prissy took Lisa and left Graceland before EP's birthday on 1/8/72. Further, Willie Jane Nichols, Gladys' friend said that afterwards EP could NOT find Lisa for several months. EP had to hire a private investigator. Eventually, Prissy told EP that Mike S. told her that it was NOT good for Lisa to be around her daddy. Mike S. said he "never" said that, which I believe. This was Prissy's "plan" and she "intentionally" deprived EP from seeing Lisa and then "blamed" it on Mike S. Do you feel the love now? NOT! Prissy was and always has been vain and manipulative.

@@vicki6070 I was his friend for 10 years up until his death. No one knew more than Elvis did how much he screwed up, he owned everything that he did in his life he blamed no one but himself for the shape he was in, and the choices he made. Priscilla also owns her part in the ending of their marriage she and i still talk a lot the loss of Elvis and Lisa broke her. Elvis and i spoke a few times before his death he was the big brother i never had. We both needed a friend and we were that for each other. The memories we made in the 10 shorts years are locked away in my heart forever. The last time we spoke we cried a lot because we both knew he was living on borrowed time, he said everything will be ok i said no it wouldn't because you will not be here anymore. He gave me the biggest hug and that sweet smile i will never forget. 3 days later he was gone and i will never get over it. i hope it clears up the hate in your heart you have for Priscilla. BRO, This is truly a masterpiece. Sometime please think about reacting to "He'll Have To Go", a legendary song first recorded and made famous by Country singer Jim Reeves. It's such a beautiful song anyway, but ELVIS adds a bluesy touch only he can do. And this was the last song he recorded before his passing. I have the "Moody Blue" album from which it's on. The album, by the way, is actually blue. I have all these 45's along with the original jackets. Would love to see what your ELVIS shirts will look like; take care, and THANK YOU!

How we met was kind of a funny story but i will not explain because people judged and commented nasty hurtful things that hurt me deeply. So i will not post anything about our friendship ever again, We had a short conversation a few days before his death we were both very emotional. i will love and miss my friend forever. i walk past Graceland everyday sometimes i go in and walk around the grounds and talk to my friend at his final resting place. they know me there lol. love to you from the one and only Memphis Tn. Elvis had just revised his Will. If he wanted Prissy in the Will, even as Executor, he could have made that accommodation. He did not. So, as soon as Elvis passed away, Prissy started campaigning for the job. It was not until Vernon was on his deathbed that he finally succumbed to her because he simply didn't know what else to do. Vernon did not like Prissy.
We know that it was the people "behind the scenes" that really made Graceland a success, however, there were plans to make Graceland into a museum even before Vernon passed away. Further, the City of Memphis had already offered Vernon $600,000 to do so, but Vernon turned it down and then died before they could renegotiate. Prissy did a wonderful job preserving his memory? Really? She is the one that exposed intimately details about their personal life and has been "lying and distorting" the facts for the last 47 years.

"wishing I could be the man that I try to" this is such an incredibly sad song and listening to him pour his heart out in front of god and a packed house knowing it's too late, that she isn't coming back breaks my fucking heart!!

Agree on so many levels this is gut wrenching, only someone with an open heart ♥️ could understand what’s going on here, I just do not like the vilification of Pricilla, I think she did love him and did her best to support him, his fame eclipsed both of them in the end. RIP Elvis you are irreplaceable, forever King 👑 of our Hearts 💕

yeah, it's wrong to pass judgement on e or anyone in his inner circle through the modern lens of today or by today's standards
God knows mistakes were made on both sides but non of us can truly understand the massive pressure they were both under trying navigate that level of fame and power
no one had ever had to do it before
i believe that they truly loved each other and priscilla hung on for as long as she could but e had many flaws and shortcomings and he knew he should have never married there was not one woman in his entire life he was ever faithful to
the fact that all his women still loved him and never had a bad thing to say about him despite his infidelity really says something
it baffles me how e is put on a pedestal and priscilla is crucified
I love e with all my heart but i am not blind to the faults and many issues he had

@@belinda35_77 I was his friend for 10 years up until his death. No one knew more than Elvis did how much he screwed up, he owned everything that he did in his life he blamed no one but himself for the shape he was in, and the choices he made. Priscilla also owns her part in the ending of their marriage she and i still talk a lot the loss of Lisa broke her. Elvis and i spoke a few times before his death he was the big brother i never had. We both needed a friend and we were that for each other. The memories we made in the 10 shorts years are locked away in my heart forever. The last time we spoke we cried a lot because we both knew he was living on borrowed time he called me kiddo he said kiddo everything will be ok i said no it wouldn't because you will not be here anymore. He gave me the biggest hug and that sweet smile i will never forget. 3 days later he was gone and i will never get over it. Regards to you from Memphis Tn.

This was shortly after the divorce was final and she was not in the crowd, but he did dedicate the song to her... I think he knew that it was being recorded, and she would eventually hear it.
Elvis did not write the song. It was written for him much in the way that Separate Ways was written for him. Many of his songs of this period dealt with break up and divorce and losing and leaving behind. This was back in the day when artists sang about their experiences.
The studio version of this song is beautiful but of course it was always Elvis's incredible stage presence and the arrangement of his live performances that really took his vocals over the top. Add to that the background vocals of the Jordanairs and the Sweet Inspirations and it would be hard to compete.
I was lucky enough to see him live twice when I was just a kid. We came from very little but my father managed to get us tickets, and that is something none of us will ever forget. By today's standards his concerts were not nearly as action packed. But I can tell you that the excitement level was over the top every single time.

You are exactly right! I believe this was the 9/74 concert that Sheila Ryan was in attendance. After introducing Prissy and Lisa he then had Sheila to standup, turnaround and then hold her hand up to show the audience the huge ring he just go her. As you know, he was seeing LT at the time, as well, who I think came the night before. I also think that in this same concert is when he sang the song "You Gave Me A Mountain" and he very "angrily" sang the lyrics that "she took his pride and joy, his small baby boy," which actually was meant to reference Lisa.

Someone said she was seated in the crowd and talking through the song and it annoyed him and thats why he said listen Cilla. Not sure what's true but he was a very prideful man so hard to envision him crying out to the woman in front of an audience. He also spoke about their divorce one time to an audience to dispel rumors as to why they divorced. Both had affairs and she requested the divorce but he changed that fact in the telling of it so hard to know what was going through his mind during this song. They were divorced 2 years by the time he recorded it and both were in relationships. Vicki

Elvis sang It's Midnight (Listen Cilla) Sept 2, 1974
and Priscilla was in the Audiance they were Divorced on Oct 9, 1973 so this happened less than a year later. Only Elvis and Priscilla know what was in their hearts and minds.
The comments Elvis made publicly at another show after the Divorce isn't necessarily what he actually felt, because he was responding to the tabloid press who often got his Ire up, because they wouldn't stop medling in his private life.

@@WoodsWoman822 As you and I both said no one knows for sure. I was offering a story the same as the story that he was singing to her. He told the press what he felt like and that was he didn't think it was fair to her because he was on the road so much. That isn't the whole story she was having an affair also and she told him she was leaving..,unless that's false also. Romanticing their relationship is something fans like to do. It really wasn't the fairytale they like to make it. He was gone all the time and cheated constantly, she had her affairs and hooked up with a karate instructor who had a kid and pregnant wife. The wedding was a 30 minute affair in a casino planned by his manager. Hardly a fairytale. Vicki
