I am 50 years old. Fan of Elvis for 36 years. Still having trouble deciding which album or songs are better. EP just mastered so many genres it's crazy. the G.O.A.T
That Christmas album is the exact one my parents owned and now me, and it's the first Elvis album I ever heard. I knew Hound Dog and a few other early hits but that was the first thing I ever played, and I got to bring it to school one Christmas around 1970 and play a couple of tracks, as every kid got to bring something. I was 5. I brought Elvis. Always major memories just seeing it. My first Elvis purchase a few years later was Golden Records, Vol 1, and then his first album; had to have Blue Suede Shoes but then loved the whole thing of course.
For me the three big ones that hooked me were Elvis 40 Greatest (UK Arcade), Separate Ways (Camden) and Promised Land. The Readers Digest Box Set was also a huge moment, I have clear memories of that Christmas Day, listening, totally entranced by the glorious music I was hearing for the first time.
Awesome memories, Steve! You, Adam and David did an amazing job on your video yesterday! Kudos to all three of you! 👍🏻 so good to see you back in action, my friend!

I got into elvis about 1973 or 74 time when I was about 8 or 9 and the very first two albums I ever heard was separate ways ( Camden) and 40 greatest ( arcade) over here in the UK. I love the three that done it for you as well. Luv the show.
For me, the three LPs that made me a fan: His Hand in Mine, Elvis Presley (in the UK, Rock and Roll No 2) and Elvis’ Christmas Album. With special mentions for Blue Hawaii and Elvis’ Golden Records Vol 2

Mark Is Back! It's not weird at all that you wondered why a Christmas album would advertise the same Christmas record on the back cover. It just shows that your 5-year-old self put more thought into Elvis' covers than RCA did. As for me, the first record that started it was The Girl of My Best Friend, a UK 45. Then the Elvis' 40 Greatest double LP, and the first record I bought, I think, was G.I. Blues. See you soon on the Forum.
I'm so sorry for your loss Mark 😢 I just love 'from Elvis in Memphis' , Elvis is back , ttwii ,msg, and so many others ,can't really name a top 3 as it changes from day to day😊😊

I do the Christmastree and some songs for my 2 daughters but it's never going to be like it was. Family fell appart after the spill of the family died, so we have to make our own christmas traditions.. i'm building it....
It definitely takes time. My Mom and Christmas were synonymous. She was amazing at making the holidays special. I really miss her. Thank you for your kind words!
Great sentimental Video Mark Lovely childhood memories 😊 My parents had several Elvis albums when we were growing up .... The first Elvis album I bought with my own money was .. Elvis In Concert ( bought in 1978 ) Also bought Elvis 40 Greatest Hits ( pink vinyl pressing) also bought in 1978 ! I was off and running then 😁 I have the US 🇺🇸 pressing you have there ...sounds beautiful in repressed Stereo 😕😁 Cheers Mark 🎙🎶🥂
What a creative video, Mark! We're grateful to your Mom, for kicking you off on your Elvis journey! 🙏😊 Three great albums to send you on your way!! My Elvis journey commenced in 1973 with these three.. 1. Elvis Christmas Album (Camden) 2. Elvis Live from Madison Sq. Garden 3. Elvis Live Aloha from Hawaii 😊
Great video my friend. Like you my first album was Burning Love. It's my all time favorite album cover. Super sentimental album. I would not let it goes for no amount of money. Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care buddy.
@@stevenholland8587 Hi, Steven. Although “Mama Liked the Roses” is quite the tear-jerker (as my late aunt would say), and it’s a good song, I always questioned why it was on a Christmas album. I always thought it was a Mother’s Day song!
Believe it or not my first exposure that I recall as the album "Clambake". I loved it, now keep in mind I was 9 years old and was not far past listening to little yellow 78 rpm discs with kiddie songs on them. I was soon after exposed to numerous albums by a friend and was hooked. Very sorry to hear about your mom, that's something that's never easy. I didn't really appreciate Elvis' Christmas music fully until I was a little older. I lost my own mother as a young boy shortly before Christmas, all through my teenage years, despite our best efforts, there was always an empty feeling during the holidays. Only later when I began to seriously date the girl who became my lovely wife did that begin to pass, especially when we had kids of our own and had a chance to build new positive memories.
Thanks for sharing your memories Thomas! It’ll be very different and sometimes difficult during the holidays but I have so many wonderful times and memories with her, so that brings a lot of comfort! 👍🏻
Hi Mark! Interesting video! ~ The first re-issue of Elvis' Christmas Album was released in 1959 in mono. 2:49 The electronic stereo version was first released in 1964. ~ I'm so sorry for the passing of your dear mother. 🌺🌹Fond memories of her are forever for you.
May fandom goes back to age 3, 1976. My grandmother had the orange label 45 for Burning Love / It's A Matter of Time, the Camden releases, Separate Ways and You'll Never Walk Alone, and the very same Christmas album you displayed. From there, she bought me the Candlelight Music / RCA release, "The Elvis Presley Story," five records full of fantastic songs, exposing me to the broad swath of EP's career. Still have it today. Picked up a clean copy because mine is covered in scratches. :-)
My older brother's purchases of the 8-track tape "ELVIS ALOHA FROM HAWAII" and the 8-track tape "ELVIS" (1973 tv commercial for 20 golden hits) were the first two Elvis albums that I heard over and over and over and over! We wore them out! Sometime in late-1974 I started collecting Elvis' vinyl albums and I still collect Elvis CDs. I'm really looking forward to getting the 2 newly announced FTDs... Girl Happy box and King Creole (book/cd set).
I guess for me it was my dad's only Elvis album he had, it was Elvis Today the Quadradisc version. It was in the 90s and i loved the sound, i remember taping it to a cassette and playing it often, then about the same time i got a used copy of Promised Land wich is still a favorite of mine, not realizing until later they are bot from 1975. But Today is what got i started for me.
@@arveespelien1116 Hello! Sounds like you’re one of the “late bloomers” Mark mentioned! Have you bought or heard the album, “A Date With Elvis”? It’s comprised of many of Elvis’ outstanding 1950’s tracks, compiled on the one album while Elvis was in the Army in 1959.
Elvis is Back is the first album i ever listened to when i was like 10. im 24 now, still is my favorite. that has shaped my love for elvis alot. and probably right behind it is blue hawaii, i remember playing hawaiian wedding song the most when i was like 11 and 12, telling my mom i wanted to get married while that song played😂.
@@SpencerCollectsElvis “Elvis Is Back!” Is an awesome album; doesn’t have a single hit song on it (until 1964 when “Such A Night” was finally released on 45 RPM - 47-8400). The album essentially speaks for itself and really didn’t need a single. Besides, “Stuck On You” was riding high on the charts at the time!
Hello, Mark. I was one of those “late bloomers” that you referred to, although I vividly recall watching the January 14th, 1973 “Aloha From Hawaii-Via Satellite” concert on TV with my mom and brother (Dad was at work) and I was 10 years old at the tome and really enjoyed the concert! However, I never thought of actually buying Elvis’ records until AFTER he had passed. The very first album I bought in September of 1977 was the Pickwick/Camden “Double Dynamite” in a Thrifty Drug Store near my home. I knew “Burning Love”, of course and always loved the song. The rest of the songs on the album were all new to me! Soon after this, I bought “Elvis Country” and that’s the one that really gave me the push to keep buying! After my older sister knew that I was getting into Elvis’ music, she gave me her original copy of the 1968 “TV Special” album. From the first time I played it, I was IMMEDIATELY hooked, so I would say that particular album was my ultimate Favorite Elvis album that really drew me in and I haven’t looked back! Great video, Mark and “Elvis’ Golden Records, Vol. 3” is another huge favorite for me as well! Walter

Thank you Walter. My mom used to say that time heals all wounds. Her loss really hurts but I have so many beautiful memories to count of her so that brings comfort! 👍🏻
ill add this as well, the moody blue and elvis Boulevard albums really turned my head in my late teens. i thought his voice was the most powerful it had been, i listened to hurt over and over, thinking his voice might have actually hit its peak at that time. that started my love for the 76-77 years.
@@SpencerCollectsElvis Hi, Spencer. Sounds like you and I are around the same age. I turned 15 in 1977, just a week before Elvis passed. At first, I thought that the “From Elvis Presley Boulevard” album was great and Elvis’ voice was great, albeit a bit too operatic when compared with his voice in 1972, when he sang “Burning Love”. But to me, the “Boulevard” album is too melodramatic except for the hit song, “For The Heart”, which is actually the only upbeat song on the entire album. I much more preferred the “Moody Blue” album! Just my opinion 😁 Walter
Lovely video, Mark. Great tribute to Elvis and more importantly, your mom. For me, it's the greatest Christmas album because it's the perfect balance of Christmas hymns and gospel songs. Sorry to hear you have lost your mother recently Mark. Introducing you to the musical world of Elvis is a gift for life and a gift that keeps on giving. My passion for Elvis was passed on to me by my father. I remember in 1978 going to a record store in Zwolle (Netherlands) with him, where he told me a very famous American singer had died and he wanted to buy a record. I was 5 at the time. That evening we went home with the European K-tel compilation Love Songs which was advertised on TV. I played that record to pieces and asked for Elvis records at each opportunity. Years later (at age 12) I bought my 1st LP myself: the Worlds Fair soundtrack. Was impressed by the cover but a bit dissapointed by the music. The record grew on me. Thanks for the video pal, enjoyed it.
