Outstanding and explained in detail. Now this is information I'd be confident to attempt due to the detailed video. Well done and keep up the good work. 👍🏾🇯🇲👊🏾
Great vid thanks I'll be giving this a go myself soon. My car already had a dab reciver stuck to the windscreen so I'm hoping the previous owner also left the connections. Fingers crossed
Nice demonstration 👍
Good job well done mate
Great install video. Just a question, normally the radio turns on as soon as the key is plugged in (without pressing the start button). It was not clear to see if you needed to press the button in order for the radio to turn on. If not, then for me it is a much better option than taking the feed of the cig lighter. Could you please give some details about that?
Hi mate - quick question. On these cars, do you push all the wiring behind the headunit down the same hole on the left of the car?
hi, where to connect the blue/white wire from control pro 2? my steering wheel controls are not working.
When I wired mine up
To the harness it doesn’t run on? And I get an sos-09 e92 328xi
Does it override the sos code and audio problem when using the cp2-bm52?
Could you please detail the fuse board connection?
I have a bmw 3 series with i drive if I fit a radio like this would my idrive still work and my upper screen
What about reverse sound in this radio?
Did You bought some extra wire module for that?
I have a 3 series. and I definitely want to do this. would Halfords do everything you've done. I feel fairly confident I could do this my self. also did you disconnect the battery when installing? great video pj
What about the subwoofers underneath the seats do they still work
did you encounter any problems with your parking sensors not working? after install?
I found this video because my radio has stopped working, still has power as I can pop the CD and the lights around the exterior of it work, but the screen is dead. At the same time as loosing the radio screen, I also lost the parking sensors. I checked all the fuses and specifically fuse 63 was common to the radio and the parking sensors, but the fuse was fine. Still not figured it out, but im going to remove the radio, check the wiring and re-install first.
I do believe you need to install a separate kit for the parking sensors, not cheap.
I keep losing the the chanals on the Sony I have tried flipping the red and yellow and even putting both on the yellow feed but after a while the power drops out of the stereo and it resets again any ideas
I installed a sony one on mine and i didnt need the steering controls on do I just tapped into the cigarette lighter and got power to the unit but everything works fine apart theres now sound coming from my speakers. Also it loses memory after a while you have to set the radio up from beginning. Help -!
Why do you need to connect the
steering wire I know it controls volume and skips stations etc but the radio controls would do this. I've changed a radio before on an old 3 series and just a wiring loom only needed
Please can you tell me where can i connect permanent 12 v constant power supply in fuse box?
I wanna know the same. Can do all of the rest myself accept not sure where to put in fuse box or what amp
I fitted the exact same Sony stereo in e90 using same fitting kit and lost PDC function so removed again! Halfords sell a kit for e90 that retains PDC but not paying £160 Just to get one extra piece???
What wire is the acc 12v on that plug??
Amazing video ! I'm looking to do the same, but i have the optic fiber conection ... Amp missing BTW, can i do it without the amp? Do i have to bypass?
Yep you need to bypass the amp so that the new stereo connects directly to the speakers.
how do you hands free on it
nice one
How would it differ when changing the stereo in a 56 plate 3 Series, when it has iDrive and the screen on top?
It may be possible to find a company that makes a interface for Idrive but I currently don't know of one. In the past I have ended up bypassing the whole system and wiring the new radio direct to the speakers.
To sum up,Idrive makes the job a lot more complex unless you can find an adapter.
can you tell me how you can put a microphone through the driver side and put on the pillar next to the windscreen on driver side?
It's a bit fiddly but if you tape the end of the mic wire to a flexible stick such as a thick cable tie you should be able to fish the wire from the head unit hole down to the footwell.
From there you need to undo the lower trim cover just above the peddles and run the cable across the footwell.
Next is simple enough, just run the cable under the edge of the trim pillar that goes up the side of the windowscreen.
i was wondering because doesnt the pillar on driver side have an airbag if you try and remove it to put the microphone in also thanks for reply!
Well explained. I've got 2008 m sport convertible E93 and I wana install a DAB radio, would you please list the items I would need to get it done. Many thanks
To list the correct items the car would need inspecting to check for it being an amplified system or a standard none amplified system.
If it's none amplified then you could try this -

Do you have to replace the head unit or is it possible to use the wiring kit on the original head unit?
You can buy DAB add on kits that work with the original head unit such as this example - www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-sda-11dab-dab--digital-radio-adaptor-with-bluetooth?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Car+Audio-_-Car+Stereos-_-212942&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=62b447cf-331e-4fec-a47a-9985ff72d404&istItemId=wamwxrpit&istBid=tzwt&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:1537736295|agid:61505028187|tid:aud-271742666404:pla-330869547031|crid:291898456049|nw:g|rnd:2758367285651082228|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:1006674&gclid=CjwKCAjw5fzrBRASEiwAD2OSV5CQ2FaEbMoG1Pu__d_0gFc6g7Kgbw80IpQ-5L6YeJi-P3zLzbbwdBoC7voQAvD_BwE
Any problems with memory ?
hi, done all that but my parking sensors stopped working. any tips???
Yes,your parking sensors and on some models and the click from the indicators come through the factory radio but you can buy this type of interface that adds a little speaker - www.connects2.co.uk/products/reverse-sensor-adapters/vehicle/BMW/3-Series
Brilliant Video.
Can you please list the parts required all of them please. Also don you have a recommendation from where can I order online
Many places such as Amazon,Ebay or most car stores do fitting kits that include the plastic face plate, iso harness and facra adapter. Example below -

Hi. I have a bmw e90.2009. Do you know where is the original amp in this car ?
Your amp will be under the boot floor, just lift up the false floor and you should see it.
I followed your video and installed Pioneer avh-z7200 with the same steering wheel control module(cp2-bm52) into my e87 (06reg) and everything works fine apart from the fact the stereo doesn't memorize any of the settings. Everytime I put the key into the ignition I need go through initial setup. What I have done wrong?
Switch red and yellow wires around so that red goes to yellow and yellow goes to red.
The radio will have bullet connectors on the wires for this very reason.
@@PJsprojects many thanks for your reply, will try that tomorrow.
Used the same kit on my bmw, refused to save memory even after changing the yellow and red . Removed, tried again now no power at all.
Wow
Hi i have a question: i want to replace me original.radio with a Sony one. Me car is a bmw e90 320si 2006 is the same thing? Like yours?
Yes 2006 model is the same as one one in the video.
I need this too? Rama adaptoare BMW Seria 1, BMW Seria 3 www.emag.ro/rama-adaptoare-bmw-seria-1-bmw-seria-3-r173/pd/D4BH07BBM/?
PJ need help mate where do I connect my ACC wire? I have my constant yellow 12V hooked to battery with fuse but can’t find a wire or fuse to connect the red ACC wire
From what I've seen on UK/Euro and US spec versions of the car seem to have a switched live front 12v socket so the fuse to that could be a good bet. If your in another region try using the 12v socket with the ignition off to see if it's still live or not.
My cigarette lighter only works when the ignition is on. I am looking for a acc wire to tab into or fuse which is on acc power
Mine doesn't seem to unclip
Great video. Got mine working perfectly. However, the radio is not saving its settings. What could be causing this?
Switch the yellow and red wires so that red goes to yellow and yellow goes to red.
Most aftermarket radios have bullet connectors on those wire to do this exact thing.
@Martin Roberts it's normal to loose parking sensors because they are tied in to the original radio.
If your still having power problems then you will need to run a fused power cable from the battery positive to the radios constant power.
Sounds like the fuse box drops full 12v after a delayed amount of time. (some BMs do this)
@@PJsprojects I have bullet connectors for the red and yellow wires, swapped them, still didn't work. The yellow one had 2 inputs, so I moved the red into the yellow, so now red and yellow go into yellow. This keeps the radio on even when the engine is off, unless I remove the fascia. My question now is, with the fascia removed, will the radio still receive power and drain the battery over night?
Hi.
Excellent video. what model number is that sony head unit as that is exactly what i want to fit into my bmw
Sony MEX6001DAB,this model was replaced a few months ago due to a high amount of faulty units. The replacement is in this years line up - www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/mex-n6002bd
@@PJsprojects Thanks for getting back to me. After many read ups on the sony head units i have decided to go alpine. Don`t suppose your local to Essex and want a Job.
Hi does the kit retain the parking sensor sounds? Thanks
No,you would need an interface like this one - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Connects-2-CTRBM001-Reverse-Sensor-Interface-For-BMW/250509043301?epid=1005130833&hash=item3a5380a665:g:SnoAAMXQC-tTGgjI
PJs projects hi thanks for coming back to me. Many thanks
PJs Projects. Great video. Can you tell me if this for the parking sensors replaces the CP2_BM52?
What's the reception like?
Very good as long as your not out in the sticks with no radio masts near by.
PJs projects even with a stick on aerial?
Good job my friend. Sounds any better now?
The owner of the car seemed happy enough.
@@PJsprojects good. Ive got the basic oen and has no bluetooth and doesnt sound too good
U in the midlands???
I only do large corporate jobs, nothing private.
Great job but a non standard head unit in a bmw looks awful haven't seen a good one yet
What about if you have parking sensors?
The audio for them comes from the original factory radio so you either loose the reverse park sound or buy a fitting kit that has the little speaker for the reverse ping.
Give your reg number to a local Halfords(UK only) and they will give you the part numbers you need.
Other parts of the world check with the larger car audio dealers.
Thanks for the speedy reply, seen the full kit on eBay £150 approx
@@PJsprojectsI was shocked how poor the sound quality is for a factory fit headunit, my old civic was fantastic, but to change the HU out of that requires half the dash and centre console to be removed
11:30 (just a reminder for myself)
No way will that come out as easy those things are very hard to get out u must have removed that before video
Can you make a video when you install a subwoofer in a e9x?
