- W&LE 253 leads a long consist of engines on Wheeling and Lake Erie train 262 at Canton, Navarre and Brewster Ohio. The 253 and sister ex NS GP38-2's were sold off the roster shortly after. Also we caught 7002 at Zuercher Rd between Brewster and Orrville and 7004 arriving in Canton.

The horn sounds like a sick goose mating call.
Lol
I love trains!
262 is always my favorite wheeling train to chase
Loving those locomotives!!!
Some great consists here. Love seeing the W&LE
Yes definitely one of the more colorful lines left.
Love that horn!!
great video Scott!!
Thank you!
That two-tone horn sounds almost British. 😄
👍👍👍👍👍 Love High Hoods.
The Wheeling & Lake Erie will always get a thumbs up from me, both for adopting the Rio Grande livery and going all-in on the SD40-2 locomotives. Keep the vids coming. Love em.
Great section of track between those homes with the sad Duckhorn squeaking out the partial grade crossing warnings. Watching all those Alco.trucks bobbing along reminded me of all the Wisconsin Central GP30s that rode on them. That Freight even held a WE boxcar and where those old Eco Well Cars came from well talk about ancient. Great yardview with the Drone and just can't beat that lashup of GP35s esp in 2023
Don’t see these type of trucks much anywhere other than the wheeling anymore.
Tanks Brasil 🌟🇧🇷
An interesting railway company and fantastic video. Thank you for showing. greetings from Germany
Thank you for watching!
What a wonderful video Scott! Great views, changing consists, etc.! (Dave).
Thank you!
@@ScottTaipaleRail Your very welcome.
Excellent trains Scott!!!
Thank you
@@ScottTaipaleRail You're welcome!!
Love that Hee Haw horn. Nice video too.
The RS3K’s are definitely different!
@@ScottTaipaleRail Yes sir, thanks.
Great video, but man that horn sounds terrible on 253.
Yeah this one is pretty bad!
I can’t wait until the 2 GEVO’s they bought finally hit the rails
Who did they buy them from?
Where did you get this information?
I'm pretty sure it's a joke.
Not a joke
@@cory1148 then where’s the proof?
so the two former ns were sold off this line or to this line?
They had 4 but all were sold to a railroad out west
They went to the Nebraska Central.
Note that RR Picture Archives shows WE 251 as now being HRSX 3007 (Harbor Rail Services, leased to a cement plant in California. However, this seems to be incorrect. The W&LE high-nose GP38-2s were painted in plain black (as you can see on WE 253 in this video) but HRSX 3007 is in Norfolk Southern paint, except that the horses have been painted over. If they were the same locomotive, that would mean that its new owners had put the white stripes of the NS livery back on the locomotive, which doesn't make sense. (Also, HRSX 3007 has the low nose, but lease companies often chop the high noses down, so that's not conclusive.)
Omg what is that horn
That horn is dying, that's what it is!
Nice RS3K
Wonder how long before we see DPU's on W&LE? I assume their SD-40-2's have the latest control electronics/software to support it.
I don’t think they do but I’m no expert
I doubt it. DP requires radio receiver/transmitters and additional control hardware. Class Is don't tend to fit that to anything older than an SD70 or Dash-9, and short lines generally just can't afford it.
Witch where sold and to where?
I forget, maybe someone will reply.

Of(?)
What a unique horn. 👍
Where are the engines going now?
Nebraska Central.
