'Beware of the Clown' is the second single from 'DARKADELIC', the Damned’s 12th studio album coming April 28th. The video stars founding member and the single's songwriter Captain Sensible as a politician cursed by all things clowny (any resemblance to real politicians is purely coincidental).

As an older punk, I'm glad to see people older than me that are still cool and having fun.
Old punk 57 here too in Finland. I have always loved British punk scene.
Till the end...
You're cool coz your still here
72…. Have always loved the damned.
Well.. they were the first punk band..
Life is growing older with The Damned❤
One of the greatest British bands of all time , still knocking out great sounds and visuals ... brilliant 🎪
The Damned have a steady long-running nucleus, that apparently but most likely don''t care much about petty disputes amidst a group with such a jovial career of 47 years in a row. Motörhead and the Ramones set their own tough-to-beat examples, with assorted variations of humour, and bad moods. Remember The Damned were multi-pioneers of 76, winning most records of ''1st Punk band ever to ...'' , so this kinda confirms they're on to a good thing coming. Long live the Damned.
@@jocksilver7 Nope they split in 78 Vanian was ready to join Doctors of Madness and when I saw The Doomed back in 78 Vanian wasn't part of them 👍
@@gmantramp404 'Yes , i do have some memory of replacements back then, but didn't recall it also involved Vanian. Well, then, ... The Damned - the first Punk band to split for months after a 2-year brief introduction and to reunite, keeping the inner circle for another44 years''. That is from MGE on, possibly?
I saw the Damned as the Doomned , Vanian was on vocals, the only one missing was James( that's why they were performing as the Doomned ....I think) it was a Lycyum show in London, and Damned good too .
@@seanclark2085 ok but he didn't play in Edinburgh.
I know Paul has been back for years now but it's still great to see him here.
Meeting him last Sunday after there concert in munich. He's a great Person.
He’s a really great bloke it’s great to see him play with them again
I had the chance to meet him in Hollywood back in 91 at the Palace. Cool guy.
Paul Gray is a lovely human being, as well as the world's best bass player
@@vermilliongeckowhen i saw the Damned the first time ,was in April 1980 , and Paul Gray was already member of the group ; however, i have appreciated a lot the contribution of Algy Ward. Did you like Ward as bass player? Best regards, Patrick from Italy
Daves voice is still spot on 👍
The Damned seem to be more The Damned than ever while managing to be relevant and contemporary at the same time.
So this song is for EVERY POLITICIAN WORLDWIDE.
I really enjoyed this song.
Yet specifically about the cluster fuck of BawJaws and the vapid robot Truss that replaced him.
I take my hat off to the Damned, they still release new material, unlike others in the genre I could mention
I just listened again. I am amazed and encouraged by the Damned. These men never stop producing the best music you can ever hope to hear. And they have no egos. No self regard. I am in awe of these people
As an old Damned disciple, for me this ranks up there as 1 of their top tunes,
Thunderstruck ⛈
Saw them last week in Paris. They opened with Street of Dreams. Great show. Never disappointed with the Damned.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, Street of Dreams.....EXCELLENT!!!
They opened with that in Southampton too. Such a great start to the show, as it was probably the first Damned song I ever heard 38 years ago, so I felt like a teenager again.
They have that weird ability to sound timeless.. this could come out in 1979 ..1985 or 2000s ....
Yes
It's an istant classic
Excellent song. Great to see the older bands still producing top tunes 🙂
No wonder
Better than all that mainstream stuff in the Radio
That wouldn't be hard...new music is dead on its arse 😴
I was crestfallen to see so few views on the Damned UA-cam page for this audio track, thank goodness everyone showed up here for the video, much better! This tune feels like a "grower" (Invisible man grew on me. Like a good fungus.)
I like to see Captain Sensible still in great health after 40 years! He looks still younger.
That's cos he's Sensible 😆
Brilliant. The band look like they had a right laugh filming this. Young Will looks like he's settling in nicely.
Will Young?
Will Taylor
Will buy the album
2:39 "Fuck off" hahahaha
Damn! this could turn out to be a class album and I love the fact the lads are still having fun!
Been loving this band since 77/78
dam this band is older than me
Went to see them in Cardiff last Thursday, totally blew my mind, my childhood anthems being reconstructed with as much rage and passion as the old days, thank you so much boys❤
You wouldn't go to a damned concert 👍
Yay the Damned. My favorite punk band of the 1970s. I like how Captain Sensible is dressed just as he did in 1977 in this video.
The Chicken suit?
The Damned continue to flourish as their punk peers wither and fade
Justice for all those years they were seemingly underappreciated...imo
Brilliant. Doing a better job of government criticism than the joker in opposition.
A great sounding song.
Nail on the head.
What are the critisms here?
@@willow5571 Apart from your spelling?
@@mistymisterwistyjones9668 So nothing then...
Anti Big Government Anti Racism, fits punk rock and #Biden the Tyrant Racist
I can't wait to hear the whole album, this is great stuff here! Glad they're still going strong
April 28 is the day. You will not be disappointed!
Wow...that's bloody splendid
my favourite band ever!! loving the 2 new songs so far! can't wait to see them live again in liverpool next month :D
Dare I say album of the year!? So catchy and fun!
Damned fine tune again! Still relevant, still knocking out fabulous songs. Punk rocks finest hand ever.
Dave looks like in his 20s and 30s he's literally wine 🍷🧛🏻♂️
The Damned on point yet again ☝🏻
Remember seeing The Damned at Rock city and Finsbury Park many years ago great times 👏👏👏
That's some heavy duty voodoo keeping the Damned as sharp and dangerous as they were 50 years ago. Simply brilliant, as always.
Why does it take OG punks to point the finger at the Government ? C'mon youngsters, you're not trying hard enough!
Excellent new tune!
How brilliant is the Sensible
Brilliant is the response cheers
It's like 'Catchphrase': 'Just say what you see' ...and that's exactly what these lads have always done and continue to do: They hold a mirror up to our ridiculous world and point out the silly and harmfull stuff so WE know what to dodge and what to kick against. Bless em and love 'em and by the gawds we NEED em still.
The Captain looking very much like Paul O'Grady
Separated at birth...
Dave's black Neumann mic.
Love it.
Return of The Damned👏🏻
The new releases fill me with joy
Excellent, sound and vision.
Absolutely brilliant been a fan of the damned for years the best punk band ever 😀😀 😀😀
Mr Burns, verging on his 70th decade (soon 69), setting the example : as a state of mind, Punk can't simply die, especially when you're an icon on p*sstaking stances. It's all good promotion, and i've been chain-watching this for half an hour. How's that for a bloke who was 13 in 76? Mr Lett, on his part, though he's also on his healthy late 60s, surprises with a well balanced baritone leading the way. And By the way, so goes Paul Gray with the RickenB. Fantastic Pop song in Punk spirit. Neat.
excellent. classic Damned.
It’s always been a great musical adventure for so many years with the Damned 🇬🇧
Stunning song
A real return to form. Great mix as well. 🫶🙌
Cracking song gents. Roll on next Thursday for "let's purchase new album" time.
This is everything!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Loving this song. The Damned spot on as always. Its funny I can hear Morrissey in my mind singing this. It has his recent vibe. Most righteous. Never a nostalgia act. Cheers
I am a new fan, started listening to the just 20 yrs ago.
this is gonna be stuck in my head all day now I can tell
Update - it was
Just beware of the clown……))
AWWWWE-SOME!!!! Thanks, all!!! YEAH!!!!
The tambo carries that chorus along nicely.
I haven't been this excited for an album since their last one🤣
Dave is defo a vampire like a fine wine good song
Awesomeness!!!!
The curse of the Damned,.just as I'm watching this my Roof starts leaking, ha ha, still watched till the end. Now I have some repairs to do, at least I enjoyed the song and the video, thanks guys, see you in April at the Cliffs Pavilion
Listening to the single version without all the video sound effects, the captain is excellent on this. Never gets the credit he deserves on guitar he's excellent. This track gets better the more I hear it 👏
The great return of the DAMNED!!!!!
Great song and I can't wait to hear it live
Phantasmagoria vibes ✨
Great stuff, this and the Invisible Man are the best stuff they've done for a few albums because the guitar is back rocking and high in the mix again at last! Looking forward to the new album and seeing them soon in brum
Yes, Guitar back up in the mix. Evil Spirits had good material, but guitar was low in the mix and too tame. It felt like Captain was gone and a session guitarist came in and recorded leads and solos on that album...but this is more out front and energetic as it should be.
@Opaque47 *** yeh, totally agree 👍
Really like it. Looking forward to the full album
That's really good, I'm impressed the can pull a song like that out of the bag after all the years
Another great one chaps! Elect a clown, expect a circus!
the whole album is great
so good to clown around
Absolutely magnificent band. They never fail to impress
Bravo, bravo, bravo and bravo again!!
Still got it
Only just discovered it...great song.
Dave on top form, and The Captain looking particularly beautiful in checkered specs! Love this song! Going to see them in the big smoke soon! :0)
Wow, great to hear another song from one of my favorite bands since the late 80's. I have been listening to you guys a lot lately. Love everything you have ever done.
This is so fun!!
Loving this one !!!! Wish I could hear more than 2 before the gig tonight! xx
love captains guitar solo
Have always loved these guys. The vid is bit like a punch up in an old people’s home but still FUN
Brilliant tune, never a compromised Damned and I love Captain Sensible dressed up as Captain Senseless!
Dave V. high fived me as he jumped off the stage here…maybe 25 years ago!
"Sorry Will, room is too small for your kit just play along on the dado rail or something"
Love you so much guys ,great song I'm gonna listen to it forever🫠🫠
Awesomely, utterly fucking brilliant!
Really love this ! Glad to be seeing them again in next couple weeks !
The Damned back to their roots. Back where they belong. In my heart and in my favorite rubric. That rocks like hell!! Great! Oi!
Saw the lads at the Power station in Auckland on Friday, bloody good.
And well done Captain for his very well deserved comments on the young support act.
It was a rare thing to hear the main band being as positive about there support.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought " Scince when was Paul O'Grady in the Damned..?"
Still sounding fresh after decades ,vanian has still got it ,great vocals .too many bands just go out peddling their old hits , the damned are a true band that keeps recording and evolving .great guitar too ,much more of a rock feel ,album should be good .
Mis amados damned me hacen rejuvenecer.
Volvemos a finales de los 70 principios del los 80.
I never listened The Damned, but this is pure class. Very catchy!
Look for the star of Bethlehem 🌠 the clean ward lane Hamilton nz 2002
Fabulous!
Bravo Damned
Great song guys 🔝
Great 🖤
This is great!
This is way better than I hoped for, this is as good as some of their best work ! amazing !!
That's not ok ❤
This song is dedicated to Bojo - Beware of the Brexit clown.
Yeah, Captain Sensible for President. Rock on!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Still got it.
Killers Clowns!
Grey cells, 'Little Prick',.. is Sensible' s biggest achievement ever yet !..The Damned should do it!
This is lovely!
Great to see that The Captain hasn't become atall sensible in his more mature years. A bit greyer, but still gloriously daft. Hurrah!
This is probably this best song I've heard from them since "Grimly Fiendish" at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, 1980s something! Well done!
