I'm at a school that offers hockey but does not teach us any skills whatsoever(as stupid as that sounds, its true) this kind of video is awesome for people wanting to improve their game or add another element to their game play! I'm definitely going to take notes and share with my friends! haha! thanks to all involved!
@mantledblue by hitting the ball down and forwards into the astroturf it makes it bobble over the other player's stick. it's not too hard to do but if the surface isn't very good the bounce can be unpredictable
So do you have any tips or ideas for a little bit of practicing field hockey indoors, not in a huge area, but a small space in my house. I hope to just improve my skills, especially since field hockey season is starting soon for me
i thought the same thing, but had my U15s practice it just as another option, and they managed to pull it off on a break away! works better on slower defenders! :)
ya but using that trick on a incoming defender is same or mabye even easier cause he or she cant stop and run back that fast or he or she cant turn over the stick to the backhand that quick while running but if u do it at just the right moment it should always work just watch that there isnt a defender behind ofcourse or that u play the ball to far that also servs as a problem sometimes
do you mean the one handed jinx? dont know bout others but i make sure i time it right to get the stick low under the ball then just kinda "pick" it up and over...
My problem with these videos is they tend to base the skills on players who stay static and don't chase for the ball at all. Best skill I find tends to be to put the ball between their legs. Its hard to react to and you tend to either get a foot/advantage or it goes through them.
DON'T listen to all these so called "hot shot" people who keep submitting rude comments about this video. Just think, if they were so good, why would they be watching this. LOL Beginners - keep practicing and have fun : )
field hockey - RUN (with some sprinting) around for a long amount of time hockey - SPRINT around for a lot of short amounts of time with a hell of a lot of equipment on (not to mention 200lb guys flying at you). neither require more or less fitness, they require different kinds. same deal with skill. Looking at your other comments I assume your a coach? I'd have thought you'd also have this view.
Okay. I'm super against all the people posting claiming that they are so great but at the same time I'm a bit against this comment because reading it I wonder how shitty you would think I am based solely on the fact that I'm watching this video. I played for my country for the first time when I was 15. I watched this video hoping to learn something to up my game or at least to get ideas for a college recruitment video. You seem to assume that everyone watching is cooky or new. Which are you?
Whoa seven years! Aren't you just a super star! That was sarcasm if you didn't catch it. Don't post comments like these until you've legit played. On a decent team, against a decent team. Play for your country and you'll understand this shit. People show up trying to play and think they're so hot and they can't even hit the fucking ball.
Well this is amusing, I play hockey obviously but also rugby and people claim that hockey is more dangerous then rugby. I presume that this is coming from someone that knows nothing about the game of rugby. One example of a rugby injury to the extreme is Mart Hampson, know tell me hockey players who have suffered worst. Secondly people have died playing rugby and I doubt that some one has playing hockey, by all means correct me if I'm wrong...next time don't comment on things that you have no i
weak-side spins, dragging the ball inside and not rolling out strong, a loose ball pass a planted stick, you would have conceded about 10 goals because you'd just get robbed everytime :/
yea everyone thinks they are so smart by saying these skills are basic but i bet none of oyu are able to actually perform these in matchplay as flawlessly as htey did just there. all this tap tap shit you guys probably do is shit compared to what these guys are doing. getting the ball moving side to side while moving at speed with such width of movement is not easy. these are fundamental skills but they are the only ones you need. i assure you that most of you wont do those spins in matchplay.
Awesome skills guys. Thanks for the video!!
Everyone new to hockey would get a lot from this video. Instead of people saying how easy or crap this is, perhaps add more skill videos on UA-cam.
really useful and simple tricks!!
awesome video! thanks

WOW, amazing skills,

thats true! it´s used on high level hockey.

I know its not hard to do these tricks but to do hem sucessfully in a game to get out of trouble s much harder

Wanna play against me?
The 'tricks' in this movie are as easy as can be!
perhaps you should call the video
Field Hockey basics, because any fieldhockeyplayer needs to master these moves
field hockey - RUN (with some sprinting) around for a long amount of time
hockey - SPRINT around for a lot of short amounts of time with a hell of a lot of equipment on (not to mention 200lb guys flying at you).
neither require more or less fitness, they require different kinds. same deal with skill.

wow
can smack that ball way harder than they can, but i have less control.
also just bear in mind that the guy in orange is a netherland international. pipe down.
I never said it didn't. Did you even read my comment?
where is the ice?
