I've always had a soft spot for Oscars. Thanx for the video
Thanks, yes you can't get tired of Oscars!
I agree, i miss having oscars. Used to have 2 in a 125 back in 2004 and they were what i called the puppies of the freshwater. I was fortunate enough that the ones i had were very calm and would swim by my hand when i cleaned. Was like a cat rubbing against your leg(guess mine were more like the kittens of the freshwater world). Lot of fun keeping them. Been thinking about swapping back to oscars if my current 125 gallon dirted tank fails. We shall see haha
I love the way he displayed his colors in the pond
Yes the sun really promoted his orange
He was so little! With those eyes.... love him 💕
Thanks!
Hi
He grew quick. Looks like the Red Terror is settling in.
Thanks, sadly I has to take him out, he was okay with everyone except the peacock bass, he forced them into the corner and attacked them when they moved
Amazing how our fishies grow so fast and colorful and happy no matter how mich they been through with you there still there making all of us happy..great video.. and keep up the good work buddy ..

Wow,he grew big quickly! I'm sure the pond helped with that. What a lovely fish. Just beautiful!
Thank you, yes the pond helped a lot with his coloration
@@dwsdarius what does the pond have to do with colouration and stuff? Please answer, I'm a novice.
@@rpsscorpius8251 bigger space, well established water. help growth
He sure did grow. He looks like a gentle giant
Thanks, yes so far he is!
The transformation was quick. Good job putting it together. Your South American tank looks epic dude!!
Thank you...hopefully I can get a record breaker in this tank!
Oscar's are such cool looking fish when they're smaller.
Yes their body isn't as rounded as juvies and they look really cool
That oscar is blessed to have a great owner
I certainly miss having oscars, it nice I get the chance to see yours !!! Thanks bro!! ✌💞

Oscars are awesome! I have had one now for the last 6 years. Albino Tiger, Wild & Tiger. Great personalities.
Yes they are!
I love the look of the tank. Someday I would like to get an Oscar. I think the look of the tiger oscar is the best.
Thanks!

Your tank is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am partial to Oscars. I have two. Biggest and oldest is Big O. He is about 10 inches long and the other is Oscar and he is about 8 inches both of which are Tiger Oscars. Your guy is so handsome and I already love him. What is his/her name. I am about to purchase 2 more an Albino and a Red one. Keep those beautiful video coming. I truly enjoy them. Storm...
Thank you! Out of all my fish only two have names...which I did not give myself; the first fish I ever tried to name died a few days after being named so haven't named fish since!
Fish room looks great bro. Love the monster tank!
Lovely Oscar with lovely music.. both compliment eachother 😁
Thank you
Amazing
Thank you!
First! Great vids! Keep up the great work!
Thank you
Wow, I have a lot to look forward to! Mines are 2in maybe
Thanks, as long as they are greedy, they'll explode with growth!
How big is yours now?
IamExsparo BN 💀
@@jmotanks8960 how big is it now
Leporinus would keep your locality theme and would add a great deal of color to the tank. They are available now and grow extremely fast.
Yes I considered them but I'm afraid of their territorial issues. I hear they can be bad...but then again my current stock are all somewhat aggressive...I'll consider it!
My Leporinus bites at my Oscars fins then takes off running but never gets caught. It’s actually kind of funny
Got my oscar about 3.5 weeks ago went from 6.5cm to about 11 -12 cm... I'm not even trying to make him grow fast, he has lots of other cichlid tanks mates I usually feed 1 big meal in the morning for everyone freeze dried crickets and freeze dried baby white bait with 2 algae wafers for the pleco, about 30 tiny algae pellets and about 6 to 8 hikari cichlid siking gold large pellets that the larger fish crush up leaving bits for the smaller fish then about 6 hours later I feed them about 6 to 8 hikari pellets again with a mix of carnivore and algae spirulina flakes
Wow, they definitely are some of the fastest growing fish in the hobby
Im hooked mate thats amazing and my dreams you are doing thanks for sharing but its late Im of to bed but i dedicate tomorrow after work when i get time to catch up on your videos bro.
Thank you!
just put an oscar in my pond, love them, great video, thanks heaps.
Oscars look awesome in ponds!
Awesome video bro it really don't take long with Oscars to grow to a monstrous size eh?
Thank you, yes one of the fastest growers!

Like. So beautiful. Greetz from Holland.
Thank you!
At first here was a smoll boi but after a while be became a big boi
Great video. I love Oscars. I’m tempted to get another one in one of my 6 footers. My Pacu in there is quite skittish and nervous 😐😂. I hate seeing bullying and aggression with fish but with Oscars it’s hit and miss.
I love how you really care about your fish. Your tanks are never over stocked 👌❤️
Thanks, yes the personality on these fish are hard to find with other fish!
Beautiful Oscar!
Thank you!
Beautiful fish. I had 2 a few years back b4 I got my albino.😁👍
Thank you, they are awesome
Awesome video!!
Thank you
Awesome 😎 time lapse Dee.
Thank you
Yo darius, i need your advice coming from someone who is experienced with cichlids. I have a 125g tank with 4 fish, ranked from largest to smallest: albino oscar, eba, green terror, convict. I just bought an albino heckelii who is probably size wise, in between the GT and convict. My oscar is obviously the tank boss due to sheer massiveness but my convict is a bully. He loves picking at newcomers in the tank and pretty much anyone who isn't the oscar. I dropped the heckelii in and BAM, huge problem. The convict swam straight to him and started ripping his back fins apart. The first time ever, my EBA decided to show aggression and started going for him too. It was at this moment where both fish backed off and my oscar attempted to swallow him whole. Once he let go I instantly took him out and returned him into the quarantine tank. I have 4 caves, plants, and little rock dens so there are plenty of territories and hiding spots so I don't really know what to do. I'm going to let him live in the quarantine tank until he gets bigger and won't be swallowed whole by the oscar but I don't want to relive this with another fish when I try to introduce them into my cichlid tank. For reference, my oscar is about 6-7.5 inches, everyone else is around 3-4 (convict is a hard 3" at most). Thoughts???
That's a normal reaction, the heckelii is the newest fish and everyone wants to assure him of his rank in the tank... the oscar wants to see if he can fit into his mouth, but once he realizes he can't he should leave him alone. How many fish do you plan on adding long term? If you were going to add more, adding 2-3 fish at once allows the aggression to be spread...instead of everyone attacking the heckelii they will divide their aggression between the new fish. If you don't plan to add more fish or you don't want to add more fish now, you could try using one of those transparent fish carrier boxes and put heckelii in and put it in different sections of the tank for a few hours. The other fish will interact with him through the box...the oscar should eventually realize he's too big to eat. The others will most likely flare at him in the box, this just gives him a better idea of who he can take and who he should run from, it also gives him a chance to search out good hideouts
Prob just him and a jack dempsey until I get a bigger tank. I have him and my jd in a 30g quarantine tank until I feel like they're big enough to go into the 125 together
Beautiful Oscar
Thank you
Oscars grow fast...he's beautiful. ..will he get any bigger..
They do, yes the max at about 16 inches and in this tank he has plenty of room to get there
Nice tank setup and fishes buddy..indeed oscar is a coolest fish in the hobby...
Now..wanna need some advice..I have a tiger oscar of 5 inch. whose Pelvic Fins + dorsal/Anal fins somehow got damage...I have been using now Melafix with aquarium salt..will that grow back completely with this or anything more do I have to do in this regard ?
His tank mates are
1- Red spotted Severum somewhat bigger than him
2- albino walking catfish
Thank you! It depends on how bad the fins are torn, if its torn into the skin it may not cure back to its original look...but if its not that severe melafix should help by itself
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS thx buddy it’s half way damaged only the extended part of the fins are torn ..Here I am talking about the pelvic fins..I am more concern for pelvic fins..
Darius how long will it take to grow back ?
Another good video. Ever thought of trying a mbu puffer?
Thank you, I thought about a puffer...but I here they can kill larger tankmates. People get away with smaller fish, but I've never seen them with larger fish.
I'm gonna try one, picking up a 4 inch one this week. Gonna start it out in a 20g for quarantine and start moving up tank sizes as needed.
Fingers crossed...I'm afraid of those beaks!
It will eventually be in it's own tank. I won't trust it in my 220.
My oscar is 3 inches and he ate feeder guppies already they were fry so they wernet to big for him
Nice
Your O should get even bigger in that huge tank!
1:06 .....i thought arowanas were from asia not south america.....but cool tanks, nice fish bro....love that set up
Silver and black arowana come from Asia, some come from Australia and the rest come from Asia
@@dwsdarius yeah right....cool thanks for the info👍 i knew the jardini was aussie , i just didnt realise it was an arowana and australias pretty close to asia but i was surprised to learn that they are found in south america, specifically the silver and black species you mentioned.....they are beautiful fish but when full grown need at least 300gal tank imo.....id love to have a school of them in a big yard pond (one day) hopefully
Very nice video!
Thank you
Wow
I love this video brother in so many ways 👍👍👍👍👍🤘☝❤✌
Wow thats my dream tank.i have only 15 gallon and 30 gallon tank.hope someday i will keep oscar with big tank
They definitely are the dogs of the fish kingdom
Nice video!
Thank you!
He’s dope bro
Thanks, trying to get him to the max size!
can i put 2 tiger 2 albino oscars and 2 red parrot fishes in a 4.5 feet by 2 by 2 feet tank??????
Perhaps only 2 instead of 6 because parrots may reach about 6 inches in length
My one oscer is not eiting food please tell me what can I do.
Aaaaaaaw so cute! That’s the reason I want an Oscar!
Yo Darius, great music. I have 2 10 inch oscars I want to move from a 4ft to a 6x2x2. Would love to have some south American tank mates. Any suggestions? Geophagus? GT? severums? Cheers
Nice video👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Weird... I just bought 2 oscars and it’s Jan 22nd. 2021 lol
Do you find the sticks outside too ....do they stain your water colour ?
Yes I do, I let these big pieces soak for about a month in a trash can which help remove a lot of the tanins
How does the Oscar get along with the Dempsey? I have a Dempsey and want to get an Oscar
No problems...the time that they were together the red devil kept them from fighting each other
mine is 19 inches long!
Bro how many times should I feed my 4 inch oscar and how many times pls reply
Your Oscar does the same as mine I have two juveniles a female albino tiger and a male tiger Oscar and I seen earlier today the sail shaking and they were lip licking last night I was scared didn’t want one to die so I’m gonna do a tank upgrade on the 10th a major one but I’m curious to know if you know why they were doing this
Just communication, usually shows dominance to other fish
Bro, what should I be mindful of when adding wild decor or live plants from a nearby lake? I grabbed some wild weed and put it in my tank, loved how it brought everything together, but I just recently took it out as it seemed to induce algae growth and I think a parasite got into my tank. I thought I cleaned the plants thoroughly, but obviously not. This is my first tank, 39g w/ 12 serpae tetras, 2 common plecos (about 3"), two boseamon rainbows, yoyo loach, koi angel, 3 Cory cats.... Just recently added a young 2" tiger Oscar (with plans of upgrading to a minimum of 100g for the Oscar).
Is there a specific process to clean plants and wood, certain things to really keep an eye out for, etc. when adding wild plants and decor?
With driftwood and rocks I always boil before adding to my tank, pieces too big to be boiled are soaked in Epsom salt for a few days. Plants would probably do best if kept at least a week out of your tank, maybe in a bucket outside...most parasites need a host so leave the plants in water without fish and they should die off. Also dipping the plants in hydrogen peroxide can help remove hidden algae
@@dwsdarius thanks alot, I had no clue hydrogen peroxide could be used. I now find myself wanting/needing to treat my tank for possible parasites.
Moral: learn from my mistake and don't be afraid to ask before doing something to upset the balance within.
The peroxide should be used as a dip...so in for a few seconds and out. You can check out videos of people using it to kill algae in their planted tanks. My first treatment for any parasite is increased temperature (if your ank has plants you don't want to go above 82°F or else the plants could melt) and Epsom salt
This next tank I get, I will be keeping it minimal because it's mainly for my 2" Oscar. I thought about throwing one of my plecos and possibly my yoyo loach in with him. If my blue Gourami keeps giving my dwarf Gourami and two rainbows an attitude, hell be moving over as well. None the less, I'll be giving the new tank time to cycle properly and set it up correctly before adding fish.
Which brings me to another question.....I seen a video on how to collect your own rocks and how to test them..... Is there an easier way than dropping acid on them? I've added two separate rocks that raised the acidity and had to take them out.
I have 2 oscars in my tank, they babies (1inch and 2inch) and now showin any red/orange spot or marks on their body, only brown marks / white marks with their dull black. Are those oscars showin their red color in their "go to mature" mode?
Yes usually the colors will intensify as the fish mature
Which food is best for oscar growth, color nd health? Plz give me link to buy food.. iam from india
I fed hikari sinking cichlid gold when it was small and once it was large enough I fed hikari massivore delight
Grew up so fast! what do you feed him?
Has a juvenile I fed hikari sinking cichlid gold, now he eats hikari massivore delight, hikari carnivore sticks, raw fish and shrimp occasionally
he is not an excitable oscar usually they swim against the glass to just get your attention
The bigger the tank, the more they stay to themselves...I don't mine!
what types of food u gave oscars????
which type of food u can use for your tigher oscar plz reply me....
AND YOUR TANK LIKE REALY LOOKING COOL.....😊😀
Thanks, I fed mine hikari cichlid gold when it was small...then switched to hikari massivore delight as an adult
@@dwsdarius Thank u brother..😊
Where did the pattern on its body go?
Hi Darius,
I am thinking about a community tank for the future and I love big tanks! When I move out I am jumping into the the hobby with big tanks! I am looking for a 90 gallon community tank and I don’t know what to do??? There are soooo many options!!!
I have thought and want to check if this would work:
Pair of angelfish
6 fancy guppies
Pair of german blue rams (dwarf)
6 yoyo loaches
5 nerite snails
Powder blue gourami (dwarf)
6 rummynose tetra
Pair of killifish
Is that possible and would you recommend it? Any add-ons would be noted and any fish changed would be take into consideration :)
Nice idea's! The only concern would be with the guppies...angle fish may try to snack on them if they are small enough
Ok, I might leave the guppies and go for 1 or 2 more platies
Hi sir,im new to this hobby.my oscar swim at the top of tank and didnt eat any food that i give,is that is the problem of the temperature or the water condition cause him to act weird like this?pls reply.
How long have you had him. Its not weird for fish newly added to a tank to not eat and behave different. If you didn't just get him, than yes an Oscar not eating is a sign of a problem...could be disease or parasite but you'd have to do more research to pin point it
@@dwsdarius ouh,thanks for the information,i bought it since february。
22 Jan is my birthday
Why only one?
big boy
Yes he is!
What food are u feeding please tell me.
Hikari massivore delight
Thanks
What do feed the oscar
As a juvenile he ate Hikari sinking cichlid gold, when he was big enough I fed Hikari massivore delight and carnivore sticks
Ok thank you for the reply
What is your red devil tank size?
350 Gallons
Why is an oscar with goldfish?
what did.u feed him?
Hikari sinking gold when he was young, hikari massivore delight as an adult
this oscar fish is...small?
Any breeding projects in the works
Nothing serious, bought some pink convicts for my pond so maybe by September I'll pull out a few dozens...but I'm currently looking for a male for my gold morph jaguar cichlid, but that'll take some time
Why buy a single fish ?
I seen a big difference in the Oscar's in USA and UK the oscar in UK have a much longer body and seem more natural and healthy looking then those in USA which have a more oval body shaped and slightly shorter body as they seem to grow more up ways instead of length wise. Maybe it's just me but look at the difference on UA-cam videos of Oscar's in UK and your in the USA. Not criticising just an observation also USA fish suffer from hole in the head alot more then those in the UK. It's clear to me it's maybe a genetic thing due to the breeding habits USA has maybe inbreeding in same family fish ? I don't know just a guess what's your thoughts would love for you to do a video on this and ask others there ideas and what they make if it. I have an oscar its 10months old its 8.5" I upload a video on it this week for you to compare the Oscar's see if you notice any difference as I'm in the UK
My oscar killed my red devil
All that fat in hes eyes is sad to look at..🙁😓
Nice
