What even compells people to do stuff like this. I went to a college production of Ride the Cyclone over the weekend, and the lack of respect in the audience was insane! I found out afterward that students who attended that night received extra credit, so naturally they were all there for the wrong reasons. The loudest three in the whole audience sat right behind me, and they made casual conversation in their full voice as if no one else could hear them. One guy behind me actually took out his phone towards the end of the show and started watching TikTok without earbuds in. I don't know if the lack of respect in theatre audiences is a recent development, but I'm definitely hearing about it now more than ever.
