This lesson covers the volume of a sphere. Students learn that the formula for the volume of a cylinder is pi times radius squared times height, so the volume of a cylinder that has a radius of 10 feet and a height of 40 feet is pi times 10 squared times 40, or pi times 100 times 40, or 4000 pi cubic feet. And since pi = 3.14, 4000 pi cubic feet can also be written as 4000 times 3.14, or 12,560 cubic feet. Students also learn that the formula for the volume of a sphere is 4/3 times pi times radius cubed, and the formula for the volume of a cone is 1/3 times pi times radius squared times height.

You are both correct and incorrect. Cross cancelling means finding a common factor of two numbers and *simplifying*. So in this example, we had 27 and 3, which can both be divided by 3 to give us 9 and 1. We divided by 3 because it is a common factor (a numvber that goes into both numbers, in this case 27 and 3).
Hope this helps.

When she cross canceled the 27 into 9 and the 3 into 1. It was just a simpler way to do 4/3 times 27/1. For 4/3 times 27/1, 27 is a multiple of 3 so you can cross multiply and simply to 4/1 and 9/1. Leaving 9 times 4 which is 36. Then add the units. Hope this helped.
I’m a bit stuck cuz my number doesn’t divide into 3 😞

Dam a 2 minute video thought me more than a 1 hour lesson
This is really helpful, thank you very much. My book has the formula but didn't discuss what they did with the 4/3.
I think when she cancelled the 27 and 3 and ended up with 9 and 1 she multiplied 9 × 1 got 9 and multiplied that by 4 and that's how she got 36
Idk if it is..
I need more details..... why did she turn the 27 to 9!!!
27÷3
When a number in fraction and the fraction of the other has the same number in the multiplication table like 3 is the numerator of the first fraction and the denomenator in the other is 27 you cross it cause the number 27 is in the table of 3 or to make it simpler 3÷27 which means 27 is 9 and 3 is 1 or ask your teacher🤗🤗

Y’all so basically you do take the R divide it by 3 and then take your answer from that and multiply it by 4 then just put the pie at the end
Somewhat, it’s r x 3 take ur answer divide by 4 and multiply by pie
@@alessandrasantos8541 if you multiply by 3 than divide by 3 you would just end up with 12.56 the whole time how does it work?
It might help to explain why the '4/3' is in there. That way, people won't blindly just use the formula without understanding why they are doing what they are doing.
girl what does cross cancel mean?? I'm learning this on my own cuz I'm confused. but I'm *still* confused.

THANK U. I WAS SO CONFUSED UNTILL THIS. THANK U🫶🫶
Thx miss now i can finish my assign. Easily!!
Hand writing is very neat
What do you do if you can't cross cancel?
just multiply and it normally without cross canceling, you only cross cancel when you can to simplify the numbers (i suggest looking at some examples of cross canceling to understand it better :) )
She's the teacher we want and the teacher we need
0:52 pls tell me where on earth did you get 9 and 1, and the reason why you need to cross out 3 and 27.
thankyou for helping me i was having trouble with the explanation in the book also for those who does not understand (3in)^3 is 3.3.3 equals 27 multiply its not hard! also don't make fun of her smile she is helping us with math while all youre attention just goes to her smile pay attention to what she explained so you guys can understand.

Why doesn't the cubed sign go away if it has already been applied?
Good question... I asked that too, when I was in High School... You might want to consider that you are dealing with volume, and it happens that the same term "cubed" is used the refer to both situations which is a transition from one determinant to another... Otherwise you would end with a linear value, however, it is volume so "Cubed".
The cubed sign stays because you’re dealing with 3 dimensions
its part of the unit
Using this to study for magnet school admissions test; wish me luck!!
Why do they cross cancel???
I'm in love with her already lmaoo
Your way of explaining is very good 👍🎉😊😊
isnt it 113.14?
how is it 113.04?
Can someone please teach me?
Sometimes the value changes depending on whether u use pi as 22/7 or as a decimal since it can`t be completely calculated
think u should use 22/7 and not decimal to avoid confusion

How do i do yhis when it doesnt have a raduis but height?

What is the "cross canceling", why do that and what is she actually. Taking 2 from 3 and adding it to the 7? Why?
Now i know how to solve my Math Assignment!! thanks MathHelp!!
what if you can't divide the three to the radius?
If you guys dont understand cross canceling, use the formula (4pi r³)/3 , its the same formula but just written differently
Mam if example radius is 3.5cm then volume is
She can make a really good text to speech voice👌
Thanks for giving the formula at the beginning because I didn't want to watch several min of boring example problems.
thanks for the solving I was so confused that how did they solve with 4/3
I have a question,
why did you write first 3 in cubed,
then did 3*3*3, and you got 27 in cubed?
Isn't it supposed to be just 27?
The cubed sign stays because we are dealing with volume. You can also read it as cubic inches rather than inches cubed. Basically it shows we are using a three-dimensional shape.
TYSM! It really helped me a lot!
Thanks this really helped because I didn’t understand but now I know!

OMG THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH I TOUGHT I NEVER WOULD HAVE GOTTON IT
Good day po ma'am ❤️ can you help me plss? What percent increase in volume is achieved by a sphere whose diameter
increases from 3 cm to 4 cm?
Wait , 3 inches cubed equals 27 inches cubed?Shouldn’t it be. 27 cubic inches? Because if it’s 27 inches cubed then you still need to multiply it by itself and itself again. I just noticed she moved the little 3 inside the paragraphs after she cubed the number 3. It is
confusing the way she worded it. And maybe use a different number than 3 while teaching how to cube a number. Just a thought. 😊
She did explain it a bit poorly, but the way she wrote it cleared it up for me, because it wasn't cubing the whole equation anymore.
Good video but next time get your calculations right=113.09 in cubed
How'd you get the 9 and 1 though?
By being simplified?
my exam is tomorrow and i have 6 chapters to cover and only 4 hours to cover
27 cubic inches not inches cubed.
did we have to cross cancel?
