I was just a kid at the time, but I was on board the Wisconsin for Desert Shield/Storm. Wow, this brings back memories. I was actually playing a WWF video game just across the passageway from the barber shop when general quarters sounded to go into Desert Storm. It's easy to say now, but those were good times serving on board. Glad to see the old girl is being maintained and is a museum now.
plank (re-commisioning) owner left ship after my 2yrs of duty on board was up and was part of the Wisconsin battle group during that period on USS Elmer Montgomery (FF-1082) montgomery. I had to take four photos of that Ship as it passed us by one day to get the entire ship.
Wisconsin wants its battleship back
ON WISCONSIN!
somebody knows when it was the last time engine station was turned on? on Wisky and Missouri?
Paolo Brignoli USS Missouri 1992.
The props are behind you
Isn't the Iowa class ships still available for national emergency's?
Yes they are battle ready within a 48 hour time period
No they are not. They were stricken from the naval reserves in the early 2000's.
To bad we have nothing to compete with Russian Kirov class. thanks for your reply
DirkDiggler6903 I hear that they are bringing them back.
I hope so, but was told Bill Clinton destroyed the replacement barrels. Maybe someone could look that up.
