Hello, BMW on some vehicles uses ATF and some Pentosin 11s. You cannot mix fluids as it can cause damage to the system. Always check the cap to see what it shows and add the correct fluid to prevent damage to your vehicle.

Hello, I have an X5 2011. Do you think that the system is the same? I was worried that the steering might be electric not hydraulic. Can you please give me an idea?
+Brayen Zar I am pretty sure you will still have the hydraulic system. Just look for a reservoir in the engine bay. If you have it then it will be hydraulic. Should be pentosin 11s for the fluid you will need.

Do not see too many of these older BMW's. The procedure should be the same however for all BMW models.
