    What’s goin’ on people? Mark from DCAR back with another review video. In this video I drive a 2011 Ford Shelby GT500. All I can really say is WOW. This was truly an amazing car. An absolutely incredible driving experience and so much fun to just rip through the gears at full throttle. I think I loved it so much, that if I had the money just burning a hole in my pocket, I would've definitely driven it home that day. This is a review that I'll always remember.

    Personally the 11-12 GT500 is the best for the money. You can swap in the trinity TVS (Or any TVS in general) and this thing is pure violence.The 5.8 trinity engine is great, but if you want to mod, the engine doesn't have too much room for error. Also on insurance, I went from a 10 GT to a 12 GT500 and my 6 month premium is $330 from $275 on the GT. Highly recommend this car even if it's just getting a ride. the S197 GT500 is truly the end of the "old school muscle car" era... Big motor, solid axle rear, just visceral driving experience.

    • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  Рік тому +2

      I agree! If this were mine, I would probably just keep the 5.4L for simplicity's sake, and then mod that accordingly if I so chose to (bigger intake, maybe a shorter pulley for more torque) Overall very well said though. Thanks for checking out my video, and I hope you enjoyed!

      Big motor that is simple and reliable and easy to work on, solid axle and the stoutest manual trans ever offered in a factory mustang.

    I have this same exact car. Black on black 11'. It is my throttle therapy. I came here to watch a video after finding an excuse to drive it to the store (this happens a lot). Got one hell yea and broke her loose once also. Almost every time I take it out I get someone stopping me to smile and tell me how awesome it is. It can go from calm daily driver to complete psychopath. Couldn't be forced to part with it.

    Cool review. I owned a 2010 GT for 10 years. Sold it last September and just bought a 2012 Shelby this week. I agree that the s197 Shelby are collectibles already, people just didn’t realize it yet. S550 is not my style.

I mean, this is a black car, and I promise you that I did not see a single scratch or even a speck of dirt on it. It was SO clean. If I was in the market for one, I probably would’ve taken this car home too lol. The only 2 things I would’ve needed to do right away were a fresh set of Michelin pilots, and a nice big air intake so I could hear that supercharger whine more! I can’t see why anyone would hate it! Seems like that would just be jealousy to me. I absolutely LOVED driving this car. If it were more affordable for me at the time, I may or may not have literally just driven it home instead. It was pretty much everything I wanted out of a used muscle car. The paint on this was so clean, I don’t think I could’ve found a scratch on it if I tried. The only thing I would’ve wanted to upgrade would’ve been the air intake, and maybe even the supercharger pulley to try to get more whine out of it every time I hit the throttle!

Give yourself some time to get used to it, and take baby steps. If you do that, I’m sure you will be fine. It’s not like it’s not a smart move. Unless of course, it’s not financially responsible for you right now. Other than that, enjoy it! Life is short man. A civic is a perfect daily driver compared to this. I bet you are absolutely right! This car had very little miles on it (only about 11,600) and was in pristine condition otherwise. However, I think we both know that those are the original tires. With a fresh set of four, I would have hooked no problem. They also would've inspired much more confidence in corners. If I were to take this car home, the first 2 things I would do would be tires, and a larger, more free-flowing air intake. I feel like those alone would make a world of difference for this car! • @DoubleClutchAutoReviews
      @DoubleClutchAutoReviews  4 місяці тому

      Um, I do/did?… There were certainly pulls in this video where I hit just below redline, as intended… However, I will admit to you that you do have a point regarding a good portion of the video. I am not hitting the full RPM range frequently throughout this drive. I only did it a few times.
      However, I need you to consider a few things that you probably didn’t notice. First of all, what are you expecting me to do when I’m jumping in this very powerful car (that I also don’t own) for the very first time? Do you expect me to just pin the RPMs and go full throttle the entire time? These tires were also the ORIGINAL tires from 2010, and I was having A LOT of trouble keeping traction as you can clearly see in the video. To boot, for New England in May, that was a relatively hot day out (80+ F). That really goes to show how easily I was losing grip in this car with this much power, while also being on this current old tire set up. Not respecting those factors are ACTUALLY how you make an amateur mistake. If you aren’t an amateur yourself, you should/would be well aware of all of that.
      And just to clarify, I’m not trying to put you down, or argue with you. I really try my very best not to do that to anyone that comments on my videos. Even if they deserve it, I most often ignore them, because keyboard warriors and trolls that think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread aren’t worth my time or energy at all. I am just trying to get you to see it from a different perspective. My advice to you is that you should think about what you’re saying, and consider all of the factors like that before you just comment something else on someone’s video in the future. Stay humble. Thanks. 👍
