Hey, I am a practicer speedrunner of the game. Great video. You can skip a time stop needed in stage 4 by using two jumps and 3 knives to get to the higher platform. But I prefer the one jump, 3 knives and another jump and one more knife to be more consistent. (When I mean knife, I mean knife hover.) 5:18 And atleast one of the bins time stops can be skipped if you get the dash first and then clean up the bins needed. Preferably the ones with a straight shot from the vending machine. 5:23 (looking at this example, it may be a bit far even with dash but you can possibly throw the can to bounce into the bin.)
thank you! i actually tried the waste bin at 5:23 with the dash spike, but you're right, the can would need to be thrown into the bin. it's a tricky shot, but maybe someone more skilled than me could pull it off...?
Absolutely fantastic editing, and great run! Luna Nights is one of my favorite games, and it's really cool seeing it be pushed to its limit in this way! I know it's a tad late now, but do you suppose you could save a time stop at 15:07 by standing in the entrance and throwing chainsaws? The angle looks like it could potentially line up, but that's just me eyeballing it.
thank you! i think, so long as the game actually loads the gem pylon, the chainsaw idea might actually work. i'd go and test it actually, if it weren't the last collectible item no matter which way you play
minimum time stops?? kinda awesome EDIT: finished the video, it was AMAZING the amount of effort you put in was awesome can’t wait for this video to blow up
tbh, kinda wanna play it, because it looks a lot like Castlevania SOTN and I love Castlevania SOTN, so any game that looks equally as good will be played by me.
If you ever want to revisit Time Control challenges, Timespinner is another fun Metroid Vania with time stop as the main mechanic. I might look into that myself. Would give me a good excuse to replay it.
Very nice vid! I just beat this game, so browsing vids on it, and found this one! Was really interesting to see a "theoretical" vid on not time stopping to beat the game! I enjoyed it a lot. I actually wouldve enjoyed watching your boss fights too lol. Also, i had NO idea thousand knives gives you invinicibility. I just said "this takes too long, it would be useless". Wow, I was wrong. How useful that attack wouldve been! lol
fun fact about the cirno boss room and it being the only one that fills up with enemys. It was only the enemy's for a while in the main game, that was until a update to the game happened and placed Cirno in that room- And I'm going to be honest. I thought it was the other way around. this dumbass (Me) Went through the room normally when the update came out to do another go at the game and face Cirno, I saw that in a no hit boss battle it was in that room so I went there and all was normal... I chose fuck it and just went to Reimu and beat the game normally, I then came back into that room and poof, Baka jumpscare. I still have no idea why that happened but I still had fun with the boss.
So funny thing since the topic is up, during Early Access it was very easily possible to ignore getting the Eternal Clock(you can Snail Time past the mechanical door if you're quick) and the game's scripting would actually break, if you got far enough in, as certain cutscenes wouldn't happen and Nitori would never show up due to passing other cutscenes You also can get that HP Up in the Stage 1 cave without any powers, its really obnoxiously tight, but you can knife float enough to grab it immediately And yes, I did know that about Cirno's room, in part because originally it was empty, just had the Magatama and enemies on revisits
Heyyyy I got the same idea long time ago, just that I wasn't trying to do 100%, I wanted to stop time just when I needed and not waste it on other things. I ended up doing 12 time stops in total. These are all the times I time stopped. Stage 1: 0 Stage 2: 0 Stage 3: 4 Stage 4: 1 Stage 5: 2 And 5 more in extra stage. I also did no killing enemies challenge which I did accomplish, you have to take a lot of damage. And I want to do less time stop as possible with 1hp now.
I mean she says she's limited your powers. So really you are playing by her rules. You just can't stop time infinitely. You can stop it every so often for not very long. So being a minimum time stop 100% challenge. Yeah. It's like sakuya never grabbed the eternal clock and she has to conserve her time magic. So she has to not waste her energy. Her mouhou.
It was entertaining, you bet. Maybe you'll do something with Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- UA-cam guys likes challenges, even strange ones
Now, just gotta save enough money without my mom realising so i can get another steam gift card so i can actually buy this game... easier said than done
its so weird seeing a 100% minimum time run as someone whos done a 100% knifeless* run. took the timey knifey metroidvania and tried to do it without time or knives. now someone just needs to figure out how to do it without it being a metroidvania lol
wait touhou has metroid vania??? o crap im sorry i dont wanna watch it then. i wanna play it first :) i played like 1 touhou game and thought they where all shoot em ups.
Sakuya Izayoi
Main Ability: Stop/Control Time.
Goal: Not Doing that at all.
yooo, a luna nights challenge run? haven't seen one of these before

EDIT:
finished the video, it was AMAZING
the amount of effort you put in was awesome
can’t wait for this video to blow up
The entire video editing is incredible but 0:40 goes HARD my guy. Subscribled
I like the idea of the final number being a time related number, very cool
i have no idea how i didn't catch that in the editing lmao
tbh, kinda wanna play it, because it looks a lot like Castlevania SOTN and I love Castlevania SOTN, so any game that looks equally as good will be played by me.
Well, SoTN is the reason why we have the term Metroidvania
holy fuck this is really high quality. good job
I respect the amount of time and effort you put into this video bro, but I'm not ignoring the Marisa worshipping in 4:31
good, marisa shouldn't be ignored
He's a man of culture as you can see
late comment, but this video got me to play the game and I really liked it - thanks!
This has the same feel as a full game M64 A button challenge
this video Is EXTREMLY UNDERRATED for how well it is made

This video is really entertaining even if I know literally nothing about Touhou
Woww what a good idea and video. Your channel deserves to explode in popularity, keep it up

man you put way too much effort in these videos, that I often mistake you for some big youtube with thousands of following
👍
nice edit but why not so many view? youtube ;-;
Shouldn't you be able to get some trash cans with the dash spikes
i don't know
wait touhou has metroid vania???
o crap im sorry i dont wanna watch it then. i wanna play it first :)
i played like 1 touhou game and thought they where all shoot em ups.
Yor takes points wins lmao
cocaine
Seerno lol, her name's Chillno. Massive touhouf'g and you don't even know that lol
kinda sad that the ammount of effort here was basically wasted since the topic was really neiche
how was it wasted tho? you should put effort into content you like yourself instead of finding trending topics and making videos about them for views.
