I sailed all over the place w my Dad when i was a young squid, Nova Scotia , Bermuda etc from Long Island NY. Let me tell u that holy crap, when a whale came to breathe up nxt to the sailboat either at night or day you knew it, they got some stinky rotten fish breath lol. I prefer cruises now. Keep up the good work !!
Hey guys just discovered your channel searching Luminosa as we are booked for late May 2025. I was wondering when you guys were on this cruise because the weather looked great, we’re hoping for the same in May. Love the few videos we’ve watched, thanks!
Thanks so much! We put the date in the upper left corner of every single video, as well as in the video description, for the curious. We've done just about every month in Alaska, and we tend to prefer mid-May since it's still snowy and "feels" like Alaska to us, though the bears and salmon are around in late-August into September.
It had a lot of the Spirit-class elements and feel, which we enjoyed overall. Little congested in some areas, but we usually tried to avoid them if we could during peak times, ha ha!! :P
Been on carnival luminosa 3 times went on her the 1st cruise out off Brisbane last year in November and the Christmas 🎄 cruise and 1 in march all were fantastic 😊 miss it heaps and all the staff and food was fantastic 😊
We had good food a great time on the ship. We love duck hunting on the ship. We are looking to do a little getaway cruise we like Carnival's private islands. We have cruised other cruise line we are strictly Carnival cruises now.
We had amazingly time on the Carnival Luminosa in May on our Cruise to Alaska Tony and I stayed in Seattle got the CityPass for 3 days Went to Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Glass, Aquarium and River Boat Tour. Pike Place walked to the Gum Wall, stayed 1/2 mile from the Riverfront. Then boarded for our cruise. We got to see Mendenhall Glacier. Big glaciers fell so bad in the water we didn’t go on the expedition of the Glaciers. We rode the train saw bears and eagles White Pass & Yukon Route Railway. Have a blast may go back one day.
We loved that CityPass option for Seattle, and it sounds like you hit all the good hotspots like we tried to back in 2019, ha ha. Glad to hear you had an awesome time in Alaska as well!! :D
I love the Strawberry Bisque so much. I like it so much I started making it a home, my 4 year old tried it a few weeks ago and it is now her favorite soup, she asks for it every week now.
When all the people get packed into the public areas, it might seem a bit tight! At least the garish colour scheme will be less noticeable. Three cheers for tablecloths!
There were some bottleneck and congested areas for sure, but we enjoyed the parts that were more like the Spirit-class ships that we know and love!! :D
Jay, my basement bathroom had to be completed redone due to a plumbing problem. While the new shower is gorgeous, it’s the same size as a Carnival shower!
HI U2 👋. Like you I LOVE ❤️ Alaska Cruising 🚢❤️. Be on Majestic Princess 8/19. & know you are on her now!! Didn’t care for Seattle RT cruise. Vancouver 2 Whittier or reverse are best & my recommendation for others. Have a great time!! Blessings 🙏🌺🌼🌸
We enjoyed it overall, but the Spirit-class is a favorite “small” ship for us. They didn’t seem to embrace any Italian theming on this ship as they did with Venezia, but still a solid ship!! :D
Stay safe we just got off the Carnival Spirit. Lots got off with COVID. Stay well. We didn't get it our family and several friends got COVID. I was a member of a Facebook page for our ship and lot of them got COVID
Thanks guys can't wait to see this series I want to try one of the Italian themed cruise ships and no one is coming out of New York and that's closer to me but thank you my fav
I was supposed to be on a Travel Agent tour of that ship on that day. Unfortunately, work stuff came up, and I had to cancel. That would have been so great to run in to you! 😢
Love the Harry Potter joke. We’re doing an Alaskan cruise in September on Encore, I know you’ve been on that cruise. Would you say you enjoyed it a lot or was it just a so so cruise for such seasoned cruisers please?
Norwegian? We haven’t done Encore to Alaska but it has a huuuuuge observation lounge that seems perfect for viewing the outside from the warmth of the inside, ha ha. That’s should be a nice one overall!! :D
Every ship we’ve seen has to meet certain ADA guidelines, and Carnival tends to be especially good in that they put out digital PDF copies of their ship maps online showing all accessible routes and venues around the ship!! :D
We usually stay near the airport, which isn't near anything you'd want to see in Seattle that's touristy, ha ha. The Holiday Inn Express Sea-Tac is our mainstay!! :D
As one experienced cruiser to another I would love to hear your opinion on cruising to Alaska Seattle vs Vancouver. I have only cruised Alaska out of Vancouver. I am researching 14 days to Alaska in the future and my partner does not fly.....so we can drive to Seattle and cruise or we can take the train from Seattle to Vancouver to cruise....would value your opinion since I am sure you have cruised out of both ports....oh we are in our 70's both retired.
We always enjoy the Vancouver sailings more than the Seattle sailings overall. It’s usually a calmer, more scenic route, and the itinerary tends to be better because you don’t have the extra required Canada stop which most cruise lines seem to schedule as a throwaway!!
6:15pm ET - I watched earlier this morning, but in my TV and I can't add comments there. After discussing with my sister I decided to add a comment. I almost always enoy watching your videos, but would like to ask you to omit your comparing ships and classes of ships. I would rather enjoy looking at the ships you are on. Also, I find videos of urinals not to be appealing. Sorry for the negativity, but I will still continue to watch.
We’ve found that comparing “new” ships to other older concepts and classes that folks might be familiar with tends to be helpful to most. It gives something potentially familiar to relate our current unfamiliar experience to, but we try to keep it to limited doses overall.
Every time I watch a Carnival video I am reminded why I will never cruise on them. This ship is particularly ugly and seems very tight in the public spaces.
People that has just started cruising in the last 25 years, has no idea what cruising was about and food quality on the ships back then, garbage is being served on the mega ships right now..I have been cruising for over 40 years, and only do The Alaskan cruises for the scenery,i eat at the paid restaurants and The Chef's table..spend my time on the balcony enjoying the scenery...The good day are over !!Will be on The Luminosa in June...My first cruise with Carnival was on The original Mardi Gras...700 passengers....
This ship was a bit like a confused Spirit-class for us, with some of the Vista-class concepts piled in, but we still found enough to enjoy about it overall. I’m not sure if they’ll end up keeping it in Alaska season after season, but we’re curious to see!!
Thanks for the video. Gotta say, this ship is pretty gaudy and unattractive. Lots of good places to be and hang out, but the colors and patterns are just tacky.
I loved Luminosa ship when we did a trans Pacific.
I will NEVER get tired of you guys!
I just love you both!! You are sooo honest .💞👍🏼😎🛳️🦩⚓️
Thankee thankee! Glad to have you along for our random adventures, as always!! :D
Love the cruising duck socks.
Figured that was appropriate since we see the most ducks on Carnival, ha ha!! :P
Ding Dong Dish is the best name ever! Wins my vote! I suggested something else but this is the BEST 😂
Nothing like a ding dong dish, haaaaah!! :P
Not the Hermione voice Jay😂😂
My mother referred me to your videos and I just wanna say. Y’all are amazing. Love the sock of the day portion.
Jay kept me chuckling the whole video! I'm enjoying cruising vicariously with you two😊❤
Thankee thankee! Glad to have you along for our craziness!! :D
I sailed all over the place w my Dad when i was a young squid, Nova Scotia , Bermuda etc from Long Island NY. Ooooh, that whale breath!! :P

I really loved the setup of the Luminosa.
It had a lot of the Spirit-class elements and feel, which we enjoyed overall. Little congested in some areas, but we usually tried to avoid them if we could during peak times, ha ha!! :P
Looking forward to seeing this later!
Another awesome video. Thanks guys.
Thankee thankee!! :D
You scored a great 4k interior! Lucky!!
We love those sneaky “interior” views!! :P
It's Lumino SAAAAA
I CACKLED
Cackled like… a witch?! :O #YerAWizardHarry
@@parodeejay INDEED
Oh this brought me so much joy, too! 😂
Great view from that inside cabin!
Those sneaky 4K cabins are the best!! :D
Wow! Nice ‘inside’ cabin..luv it.🚢😊
We love those sneaky “interior” cabins!! :P
You are headed for my favorite place. I hope this is a great cruise.
Gotta love some Alaska cruising!! :D
Been on carnival luminosa 3 times went on her the 1st cruise out off Brisbane last year in November and the Christmas 🎄 cruise and 1 in march all were fantastic 😊 miss it heaps and all the staff and food was fantastic 😊
I would totally choose that cabin to save a couple hundred
It's gives me a serious chuckle 🤭 to hear a Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville song on a Carnival Cruise Ship 🚢!!! Are they partners NOW? 🤔
Hah, we tend to hear Jimmy Buffett on just about every cruise line. You can’t get away from that lost shaker of salt, salt, salt!! :P
We had good food a great time on the ship. We love duck hunting on the ship. We are looking to do a little getaway cruise we like Carnival's private islands. We have cruised other cruise line we are strictly Carnival cruises now.
I went on the Luminosa last November when it travelled from Brisbane Australia up to North Queensland. I loved it. 😊
Oooooh, that’s awesome!! :D
Good morning!
5:00 That's what we call Double-Cheeked-Up. 😂😂
I’ll be on here in June. Third Alaskan cruise in 3 years!! LOL. I love Alaska so much
I sailed on the Luminosa last November after Carnival took her over and she was in Australia
We had amazingly time on the Carnival Luminosa in May on our Cruise to Alaska Tony and I stayed in Seattle got the CityPass for 3 days Went to Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Glass, Aquarium and River Boat Tour. Good morning Dee and Jay
I look forward to seeing y’all try the Non-Guys burger and see how they compare!
We did eventually get to try one!! :D #NoSpoilers
Great video! We are sailing on the Luminosa in March 24’ in Australia.
Woohoo! Hope you have an awesome cruise!! :D
Emma Cruises did a video when this ship was the Costa Luminosa. It is interesting to see what has changed and what has stayed the same!
Jay, my basement bathroom had to be completed redone due to a plumbing problem. While the new shower is gorgeous, it’s the same size as a Carnival shower!

I'm sailing on Luminosa in October next year, I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like
We enjoyed it overall, but the Spirit-class is a favorite “small” ship for us. They didn’t seem to embrace any Italian theming on this ship as they did with Venezia, but still a solid ship!! :D
@@parodeejay I had my cruise on her last week, I really enjoyed it
This is is a stark reminder of how antiquated Carnival Corp is. This gaudy design ship inaugural was the same year as Oasis of the Seas inaugural.
We love the old Joe Farcus era ships, ha ha… so a little extra personality never seems to bother us for some reason!! :P
Stay safe we just got off the Carnival Spirit. Lots got off with COVID. Stay well. We didn't get it our family and several friends got COVID. I was a member of a Facebook page for our ship and lot of them got COVID
Yow! Hopefully you’re all still doing well and avoided it completely!!
Hopefully the symptoms are mild. I haven’t heard much about that dreaded virus recently.
You picked a good inside cabin! Good weather for sailaway. Do you ever do pre-cruise meet ups?
We love those sneaky peekies, ha ha. We’ve done maybe two pre-cruise meetups and they were way too stressful for my brain, hah. Wooooo!! :P ~Jay
Thanks guys can't wait to see this series I want to try one of the Italian themed cruise ships and no one is coming out of New York and that's closer to me but thank you my fav
They definitely seemed to embrace the Italian theming more on Venezia for sure, though it’s a larger ship overall. Still a solid choice!! :D
26:39 that statue is ...unsettling lol.
I look forward to all your videos in the coming future. I have 214 days until our next cruise and it is way to damn long of a countdown.
Thankee! Glad to have you along for our craziness. Hopefully your countdown goes super quickly!! :D
I was supposed to be on a Travel Agent tour of that ship on that day. Unfortunately, work stuff came up, and I had to cancel. That would have been so great to run in to you! 😢
Ahhh, so close! Dang work stuff, always getting in the way!! :P
I'm a Carnival fan, and I prefer this little funnel over the whale tail. Is that allowed? 😂😂
It’s nostalgic for sure, though Carnival already had the whale tails when we started cruising, ha ha.
Love the Harry Potter joke. We’re doing an Alaskan cruise in September on Encore, I know you’ve been on that cruise. Would you say you enjoyed it a lot or was it just a so so cruise for such seasoned cruisers please?

did they legit spell dining wrong in the app because that’s a dealbreaker 😑😂
Yeeeeeah, apparently so!! :P #dinning
What were the actual dates of your Alaskan trip. Thanks for for such great videos
We put the date in the upper-left corner of every video at the very beginning, as well as in the video description, for the curious!! :D
Sweet. I will check it out. I am sure I just missed it.
Which do you like better the Spirit or Luminosa? Which has better entertainment too?
We would go Spirit overall. Something about a true Spirit-class ship is always a winner for us!! :P
Looking to go on the Luminosa - did you like? or what are your thoughts on this ship
We covered the highs and lows over the course of the vlog series and wrap-up!! :D
Just wondering is the ship scooter friendly and getting off the ship at ports too
Every ship we’ve seen has to meet certain ADA guidelines, and Carnival tends to be especially good in that they put out digital PDF copies of their ship maps online showing all accessible routes and venues around the ship!! :D
Where do you guys usually stay in Seattle pre cruise.?
We usually stay near the airport, which isn't near anything you'd want to see in Seattle that's touristy, ha ha. The Holiday Inn Express Sea-Tac is our mainstay!! :D

Ooooh, good catch!! :P
Is the ship super small I heard she was
Every time I watch a Carnival video I am reminded why I will never cruise on them. This ship is particularly ugly and seems very tight in the public spaces.
Definitely a few bottleneck areas, but we’ve found that with certain classes of ships more than others. Meh. :P

Not sure I like that ship from what I've seen, nothing in particular just general preference. And it seems completely wrong for Alaska.
