GCSE Physics - Electromagnetic Waves #64
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2024
- In this video we cover the following:
- The 7 different types, and order, of the waves in the electromagnetic spectrum
- The phrase ROYGBIV to help you remember the order of colours in the visible light spectrum
- The inverse relationship between wavelength and frequency as you move through the spectrum
- What sort of things emit these waves
- That when waves contact with an object they can be reflected, absorbed, or transmitted - or some combination of the three
Raging - radio waves
Martians - microwaves
Invaded - infrared
Venus - visible light
Using - ultraviolet rays
X-rays - x-rays
Guns - gamma rays
I prefer "Rabbits mate in very unusual expensive gardens"
I prefer "Rich men in vegas use X-ray guns"
i prefer "red men invaded venus using x-ray guns"
Nahh I'd prefer "rich man in visible umbrella x ray gamma
i prefer "read my inner values using x ray glasses"
yall are lucky ur teachers are even asking u to watch this cuz my FREAKING TEACHER IS ASKING US TO PRESENT THIS TOPIC TO THE CLASS *WITHOUT EVEN DISCUSSING IT TO US*
wait that has been happening to my class since like 4th grade, my teacher will pick out groups and assign a specific topic to us, ask us to study them on our own, and then we report about it a week later, that was not normal? i mean, I guess the topic back then was way simpler
i think you are being a bit too dramatic
I'm watching this on my own accord
@@arrianah5080 it just means your teacher probably doesn't even know the topic or can''t be bothered to teach you. Smh. If you wanted to learn everything yourself, why would you need a teacher or even go to school??
No teacher asked us. We r all desperate
Easy way to remember that actually makes sense
Order of EM Waves:

Radio, Micro, Infra red, Visible light, Ultraviolet, X-RAY, Gamma

There's a song called the electromagnetic spectrum song that's good for memorising the order and ROY G BIV by They Might Be Giants. They have a whole science album that might have the odd songs that help
Just trying to save my GCSE’s 2021 from being a disaster :) I’ll update xo
Please do update. Cause same.
They've been cancelled
Lol same snap @grham2708

I for Infrared waves
V for visible light

@@Bellissa_ great job any advice for me this year? when did u start revising
@@karlllllllllllll I would recommend to start revising now. My struggle was maths so that's why I started a but earlier to get ahead of revision. I would go through the topics for each subject and traffic light each topic depending on how confident you are with the, E.g if you aren't confident with trig and have no clue how it works, highlight is as a red topic. I achieved 9s in English and what helped me was practice questions, character summaries, putting postit notes around the house with quotes on, and I watched a lot of Mr Bruff and Mr Everything English. Maths- past papers, practice questions, flashcards for formulae. The best channels for maths are MyMathsTutor, Cognito (ofc.) Science- Sceneca, past papers, flashcards are a must, practice questions. I watched a lot of Cognito and used their website to do past papers and questions. Overall, don't burn yourself out. I aimed to revise for around 2 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends (2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.) Do you take history or Geography? :)

Your explanation is just speechless 👍
You have such a phenomenal and spectacular way of teaching.
If you’d like to practise what's covered in this video, check out the lesson on the Cognito platform - cognitoedu.org/coursesubtopic/p2-gcse-aqa-h-t_4.05. The platform’s totally free, and has been built to make learning and revision as easy as possible. The main features are:
- Lessons organised by topic, only the lessons relevant to your specific exam board and tier are shown.
- Automatic progress tracking. Progress bars tell you what you’re doing well at, and what you need to spend some time on.
- Practise quizzes so you can test your knowledge. You can quiz yourself on any combination of topics you like.
- A huge number of fully-hinted questions that take you step-by-step through some of the trickiest calculations & concepts.
- A comprehensive bank of past exam papers, organised both by year, and also by topic.

I m confused. In this video it said ultraviolet is ionising but my textbook says only x-ray and gamma rays are ionising and the rest are non-ionising. Which one is true?
Remember My Instructions, Visible Under X-ray Glasses. I think this is an easy way to remember the spectrum

The problem with explanation of light by electrons drop down energy levels is it's hard to describe many known optical phenomena like reflection, refraction, polarization, diffraction, interference, birefringence, optical rotation.
Really helped
How my teachers got us to learn this was making us listen to the EM spectrum song. I’ll give it to them it did work but it’s the type of song that’s irritating but it gets stuck in your head. 😭
Thank u for thisss!

I owe you so much
you can remember it by: RMI LUX G

If your really finding it hard to remember them there’s a catchy song called the electromagnetic spectrum song
I remember the order by this sentence:

Omg so helpful.
Glad you think so!
My Adhd ahh cant focus on books so here i am.
My way of remembering the electromagnetic spectrum:
Radio tries baking food in a microwave. The microwave turns red and overheats. Rainbow visible light was bestowed upon, causing the sentient radio machine to turn purple, Radio now has X-ray powers but the downside is that his now grammar sucks.
I came looking for copper and I found iron

Have you had symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, poor memory, difficulty sleeping, and lack of clarity in your thoughts? It may seem like these could be the results of daily stress and frenzy, but there could be another culprit. All of these are symptoms of electro-sensitivity, which is something that more and more people find themselves affected by. Studies conducted in 1997 found "less than a few cases (of electro-sensitivity) per million", however now as much as 2.5% of the population is affected by electro-sensitivity. Even with the most moderate calculations, electrosensitivity is 10,000 times more common today than it was 20 years ago. Why could this be?
Electro-sensitivity and its symptoms appear to be triggered by certain microwave frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. Due to their high frequency, microwaves allow for higher transmission rates and smaller antenna sizes, which is perfect for high-tech devices that are constantly getting smaller and faster. These are devices such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, and any device that can connect to Wi-Fi, which can now include TVs and refrigerators
Highly Reco!!! 🎉
