I just how much the conversation evolves from the: "What's your favourite thing about Luke and Dan" to deep talk about parenting and individual philosophies. It's what I love about the WAN show. Discussions are very natural whilst also being informative and enlightening about a subject I would have never though of, even if they are sometimes a little off topic.
It's funny how being a parent is insanely high stakes, yet somehow the barrier to entry is so incredibly low. And sadly a lot of people don't seem to understand just how big of a responsibility parenthood is 😟
I remember when Australia gave out baby-bonus', and all these dero people thought it was a great way to get some cash for free. Now we've got a whole generation of housos being raised by the worst kind of parents 🤦♂👌
Yeah most people that can understand the costs of raising a child (I'm not just talking about the 150.000 USD (ish) you'll spend on it. But also literally losing your freedom for the better part of 18 years) will not be interested in that sort of thing unless that bonus was 300.000 USD or something like that. So the people that will jump on some small amount of money probably have enough issues already. Raising a child shouldn't be one of those 😅 And I'm not trying to be "classist". I'm perfectly fine with people having kids on a smaller income as long as they realize their responsibility. Creating children for the sake of pocketing a few grand is just so so so incredibly wrong :x
3:23 YIKES what an awkward way to break that to Linus. I guess that's another point that he and Luke will disagree on and hopefully become better for it. I guess it was only "more than a casting couch" for Linus.
What Linus says is very true. My wife is aligned with me on so many things, but where we disagree, it's beneficial to both of us. Same with me and my best friend.
This was interesting, Linus' opinion on the stakes of things after being a parent, is the exact same logic for my partner and I as we were both in EMS. We dont fight, because oh no, we made a misake fixable. But in our previous career the stakes of a mistake were insanely high. Hes right, once you start realizing how low the stakes of most things are, you can actually live a much better life with your friends and family.
The principles aligning thing is so true. I have this with my friend group and it's perfect cause we can have good discussions but it always betters us
when Luke starts talking about how much of a bro he is with Linus, my mind started picturing them sitting in a nude sauna together, probably because the recent topic of how if luke would get in trouble with the law it would be indecent exposure, or the fact linus dealt with the channel getting hacked in the nude. LOL
I think the highest compliment you can give someone is that they make you better. Partner in life, partner in business, friend, even competitor. If you make someone better, there is no more important thing you will ever do in life.
I'm glad to have found the podcast. While Luke is like a Golden Retriever kinda bro who is just plain enjoyable to hang out with, when Linus makes a blank face, stares at the camera, and suddenly say something deeply or surprisingly funny, it catches me so off guard. Awesome show in general. Great work!
When I used to work at a grocery store my dad was my manager. Not top level management but was a manager in the department I worked in. Was actually really fun. We were the work goofballs but we actually got shit done
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA, I mean ANY idea whatsoever, just how long I've been desperate for an audio-only podcast stream of WAN show? Only for me to finally go 'fuck it gonna Google it' and literally find it easily on Spotify? BRUH. I'm simultaneously so happy and so mad.
And they are right. Your kid could be the next prime minister of the country you are on. And so they could have a major impact on quite a lot of people. Or if your kid ends up being a teacher, then the kids they teach would feel the effect of how you raised that kid. Being a parent is daunting, cause for that kid you only get one shot.
If you understand how much tiny things can affect your children youre prolly a good parent. Alot of parents expect their kids to just turn out fine ans happy with no work put in
I think an important aspect to that sort of relationship is a lack of social hierarchy. Recognising that being in a "more powerful" position doesn't grant you the right to always be correct or opaquely exert your will over a "subordinate" and instead treat everyone as an equal with a level of respect that they deserve as a simple byproduct of their existence is very important to stimulating healthy discourse and a solid relationship.
Linus and Luke have a Superman + Lex Luthor thing going on of pretty much knowing the other's game but wants to play it out a little longer to see where this goes.
Linus likes luke because he saves his channel and livelihood of 50+ employees when he says things like "I used to drop Hard-R's" not realizing what it means.
Hi guys On Luke’s behalf, on him staying behind the camera was he was, he was and is happy were he was at plus it’s called frinking loyalty. That’s the way I see it. Alot s of love from Canada
BTW, whomever is in charge of the studio, those look like RE-20 Microphones, they have built in wind-screens, so the attached windscreens are not needed and in many applications cause issue.
I like this. the stance I keep is all the people around me are intelligent so if we disagree there is a reason. And I make sure I never insult their intelligence because I truly don't feel that way.
8:05 this isn't tech exclusive. Just about every niche is affected by big channels with lots of resources to throw at UA-cam. It is what it is 🤷♂ (and I'm saying this as a UA-camr)
This clip legitimately put in an existential crisis within less then 2 minutes 😂 trying to genuinely consider what is my own favorite thing about myself has made me quickly realize I have not worked on my self image and self esteem nearly as much as I thought I had 😂 like hmm no not that, not that, not that, mm.. no not that either fuck I actually don’t like me😭
"My favourite thing about myself is my penis size." is constantly playing in my mind, it's the obvious joke to make and I can't think of anything else for the duration of the conversation.
The thing is with Luke's job offers... if the NCIX/LTT videos didnt pan out... Luke would still have been just as inteligent, if not more, he would have had MORE experience... Those job offers with double the salary, would still have been there, he would have just been hitting the market a year or so later... There was no down side to him trying to start a business with Linus
There is not a damn thing that I like about myself. I could literally disappear and no one including myself would care. There isn’t a single reason why I am here. 😊
"Don't go to bed angry" is TERRIBLE advice. While you don't want to let problems linger or fester, sometimes sleeping on it gives both people a chance to cool off and think about the other person's perspective, and can lead to a much more productive conversation the next morning.

In the end Linus and Luke both know that they have the best intentions for each other. That helps a lot
My favorite thing about Dan is his dedication to the show and his great taste in popcorn
True friends will argue but move on from it. You see all these other channels where the duo split up due to egos. But these two are genuine
