Great video. This is something I've been saying to everyone that ask me how to find clients/projects and sadly is so underrated. I'm kinda struggling with the personal brand issue at the moment but even with that, the clients that worked with me in the past will always prefer to work with me because they already know me and more importantly, they trust me. Simple, but valuable advice! DM'ing people on instagram always feels so foreign to me, I never know what to say other than "I really admire your work" haha. As a DP do you find yourself following and networking with a lot of other DP's, or are you strategic in finding directors/producers/creative directors?
Hey brother, yeah I almost never DM random people on IG anymore. I just really try to nurture the connections I have an expand those. Usually people I work with will introduce me to other people and so on :) I would say mainly connect with DPs, prod companies and directors.
Great video, didn't take this part of my career seriously. But now I enjoy meeting and connecting with like minded people!
I feel you man, I had the same mindset in the past but it really changed when I started focusing on building meaningful relationships :)
