Mantovani Orchestra in 1939 was smaller than later years. It was a “Club” orchestra contains 3 or 4 Violins, 2 Cellos, 2 Clarinets, 1 Harp, 1 Piano, 1 Double Bass, and a Drums w/cymbal. The clarinetists also dub on saxophones, and pianist got his accordion under the piano. There also 4 singers, 3 guys, and a woman. Where is the Guitar? Modern Mantovani Orchestra includes 24 Violins and Violas, 6 Cellos, 4 Double Basses, an Accordion, a Guitar, 2 Trumpets, 2 Trombones, and one of each, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, and Vibraphone which also dub on other percussion instruments. A total of 46 musicians, and Mantovani himself.
