Join me for a no Bull$hit test ride and review of the new R1300 GS Triple Black. A little bit different from the average boring 'I've got the scoop and want to be a moto-journalist' UA-camr review!
Drop me a like and sub if you think I nailed it...!
Cheers,
Nick (TBB)
Don’t know how I missed your channel earlier Nick. New sub. Really like your style of no bullshit and of course a big Clint Eastwood fan. Three cheers for Dirty Harry.
I love the old GSA too but currently own the Ducati Multistrada V4s for the extra poke and its handling prowess.
For all of us old school guys or just old 😂I feel the 1300 GSA maybe the one to buy or upgrade to.
Thanks for the review sans nonsense.
Cheers
That is such cool feedback mate, you've made my night. I don't buy into the usual UA-cam BS, I hope to tell it like it is. Cheers, Nick
Thanks for the Test Ride Nick! Very cool I myself am excited to see the new bike in the Adventure models. I definitely see myself getting one in the next year or two. I really want to test out that headlight compared to lean angle adjustable one now on my 2022. I also can't wait to have the adaptive cruise.
I hear ya mate! I'd seriously consider the 1300 if I was riding solo, but my partner loves to ride (erm..) and the GSA is better for two!
Exactly the review that I was after. All the basic user experience commentary that matters, with none of the 200 technical whizz bang jargon that will get a dealership salesperson all too excited. Well done mate!
Thanks bro! Maybe I'm not smart enough to remember it all, ha ha!
Good “real world” review Nick! Personally, I wouldn’t buy a bike based upon Biking Journalist reviews anyway. Like you I wouldn’t trade my 1250 GSA - it does everything I want in a bike. I also agree about the sound - A Singer Sewing Machine! 😂 Well done on a real ride review! 😀👍
I've sent a lot of mates to this dealer and mentioned them in many of my videos and I've been asking to review the 1300 for months. It would've been nice to get the 'scoop', but at least this way, I don't owe any favours and can give the honest review that Joe Public is looking for. Take care Brian, love to you and Sue.
Anytime Rami, you've been a huge supporter since I started my channel and I appreciate your feedback as always. I actually love the GS, although I'd definitely install engine bars and protection if I bought one, as it will be expensive when (not 'if') it gets dropped. For a single I think the 1300 is perfect, but my partner likes to ride with me as often as possible, and the GSA is a better fit for two. Take care bro. Nick
Same here, I am over 6ft and the 1250 has the size and ruggedness I want. The 1300 is a much smaller sporty version of an adv bike.... a different direction than many GS owners want. I am not lured by the extra power, torque, weight reduction etc.... The 1250 is hardly lacking in sheer grunt on the road anyway.... and its not pig ugly as is the new one 😉 Be interesting to see what the adv version will be like, but if it follows the looks of the new bike I doubt I will be buying BMW again. Brand loyalty goes so far and I am not sure this has been considered so much as increasing sales (?)
You nailed it, mate, 100%. The dealers have no loyalty either mate. I've been asking to 'test' this for months, but I don't fit into their Woke demographic. At least by waiting and not getting the 'scoop' I got to tell it like it is, not how they wanted it to be! Ride on bro, 1250 GSA's forever! Nick
Thanks, I told my dealer pretty much the same too which didnt fit too well with their expectation 🤔 Cheers 👍
Brilliantly put together Nick. I feel the same with the R1300GS, there’s just no substance to it. I’ll be sticking with my R1250GSA for a while longer.
Thanks mate, I spent hours editing the footage and your comment made it all worthwhile. Appreciate the recognition, it's a tough call to try and make something a little different for the usual UA-cam noise. But I think it's worth the risk...?
@@theboomerangbiker1966 great humour really makes your videos stand out as well 😀
Well done Nick. And thank you for making the time to do this honest feedback. For transparency, I have ordered r1300 gs back in September and it’s due to arrive in two weeks. I have ridden it last week and I do share most of your feedback. But.. it’s already pregnant. :). I think it will suit me with my hight etc. however in a year or so if I don’t like it then I can go back to 1250.
I need your help please with the Loneriders panniers. Huge investment but I trusts your judgement on all your Knowledge. So will message you separately to get an advise on the setup of rack vs reckless etc. thanks heaps Nick. Great review.
How exciting, to have a new 1300 GS on order Rami, I have a touch of envy!
Awesome video and review again Nick ! Keep posting, great quality and content.
Thanks mate, I put my heart and soul into this one! Cheers, Nick
Great to see an honest review from someone that has nothing to lose by telling the facts. Agree entirely, seems like a good bike but not enough to tempt me to change my GSA 1250. I have a feeling that the 1250 may become a "classic" and sought after model. Thanks for taking the time to post this one.
I liked it mate but it definitely felt too small. I think I'd lose my licence on it, it would turn me into a wheelie hoon!
How did you find the adjustable seat height if it had it? Asking for a short friend. How was the seat comfort? The trans is different. How did that compare? How did you find your old tyres in your outback dirt rides on the GSA?
Seat, very comfy but left suspension on highest setting. Not sure about the seat wrapping over the tank though, will get damaged for sure! Gearbox really notchy but no issues selecting. Tyres, the Motoz Rallyz are awesome on dirt and warm bitumen but sketchy in the wet. And LOUD!!!
Awesome I loved this one. Looking forward to the next
Thanks mate, I think I had my angry head on when I made this!
Well done mate 👍 Nice bike. Got all the bells & whistles. Probably a bit too advance for me. Love the 3 tone black & the look of the bike. Would be a great bike for touring, plenty of power & comfortable. Like you I love my motorcycles, I work as a Postie travelling 300km per week on a Honda NBC110 plus most times commute to work on my trusty Kawasaki Versys x300. One could say I live on a motorbike. When it comes to motorcycle ownership we are spoilt. There are so many to choose from & everybody has different needs & wants. WELL DONE! Ride safe. Cheers
You made me suffer the pain of Rap Music with the 1300 Gs montage 😮. Thank for sharing your thoughts on the 1300 anyway. It does feel like a Toy GS. Do Doncaster BMW stock Motoz tyres. Or did you buy it and just get them to fit it?
The music sums up how I feel about the bike and the hypocrisy of the marketing hamster wheel of consumerism. As sales and marketing guy, I still fall for it myself, but on this occasion, I can see straight through it. Doncaster order in the tyres. You could probably get one much cheaper if you removed the wheel and shopped around but I can't be bothered for the small saving - my free time is more valuable.
Another great video. I like these honest reviews.
Thanks bro, looking forward to catching up...
Hi, thank you for the video and for sharing your opinions.
I understand the virtues of the big GSA, I’m more or less the same height and weight you do and I still traded the GSA for the 1300. When you decide to change you must be prepared to lose things that you like in order to get other things in return. And here that’s the fact.
I always enjoyed the riding position of the 1250 GSA, the big protection of the gas tank and the maneuvering capability of the bike, plus doing all that in first class comfort. Some of this characteristics are present on the new GS 1300, but it’s a different bike. The thing I most appreciate about the new comer is the engine, it gives to the bike that extra nerve that was lacking on the 1250 GSA.
I went for the trophy version but with the electric windshield. Still have to install the engine side crash bars protection and it’s done. The panniers, on the GSA, the side ones, were always on the bike. The top case only used when had a passenger, but with the 1300 I love the nimble and lightweight of the bike, so I just use a light backpack and it goes all naked style, and that’s how I like to watch this new 1300 , without panniers. The GSA was a fun bike to ride but this one is funnier. I have the Anakee tyres on it, and they work perfectly on gravel, or soft off road trails. I thought I had to look where else for a lighter bike but when BMW launched this 1300 I was gladly surprised with the total change they’ve made to this big engine model and I could see that the path they took, was exactly the one where I wanted myself to go. And that was a wonderful coincidence!
I love all the tech it brings on but I’m kinda like you too, I still want to control the way I ride, so some of that technology are a bit redundant relatively to the way I ride and I poorly use them, or I try to increase my intervention on using well and practically the electronic aides the bike has.
Man, both the 1250 GSA and this 1300 GS are great bikes , different but both great bikes . Good video. Thanks, once more ✌️✌️
Have to agree with all of your reasons mate, thanks for taking your time to share and dropping by the channel. Have a great day. Nick
So, your goin to put the 12 story block of flats, twin en suite’s an finaly after nearly 40yrs of r&d, the king size double bed on the back!
Now that’s gonna be a test of the extra 50ccv😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤🙏🙏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
My old stamping ground.. very pro video mate.. well done.
Thanks mate. Will shout you a beer on my next Perth visit...!
😂 love the review and all videos! Keep up the great content and keep it real Snowflake!!!! 😂
Thanks! Will do!
Agreed on the sewing machine sound I do not like it and a possible deal killer for me mate
Just the noise of the engine at the start, outside the dealers, is enough to put me off. Word is from BMW that you can't just add a new end can, you have to change the whole system. That's a big mistake if true?
Crikey, you really are hardcore Dodger! Have you done one of those big postie rallies?
No haven’t done the postie rallies would be fun. Maybe one day. The Mrs & I will be touring again soon, she now has her P’s plus her own bike.
Good on her, go Mrs Dodger!
Great video Nick. I’d rather my trusty Triumph. Aren’t all BMW bikes girls bikes lol 😂 ride safe buddy
Moses Triumph was heard throughout the land. Yep, old bikes, even mentioned in the Old Testament!
Your video title is wrong. This is not a R1300GS Adventure. It's the GS.
@kulaak-krii I realise that mate, it actually says is this 'my' next adventure, not is this 'the' new adventure. This is the GS ADVENTURE... ua-cam.com/video/xox3cgKMmd8/v-deo.htmlsi=ZVU0ldj4oE3wpWI1
@theboomerangbiker1966 I'm confused sorry. It's a great video but "BMW R1300 GS Adventure - A no B.S. Test Ride & Review". It's the GS. Not the GS Adventure.
That's not a GSA or a GS adventure, how could you get this so wrong & how are others not noticing this 😢.
@littlefish4270 nothing to do with me mate 😉
A girls bike 😂. 👍 Same feeling of lacking here. Just got the latest r1250rt full option.
Yeah, not PC and a bit controversial these days, but it's just a joke!
Yep, all that e-kit on the1300 has your head down not watching the road e.g., the 1250 GS(a) has separate cotrols to turn off and on heated grip. On the 1300 you have to go into the menu to (say) switch from electronic screen height and heated grips. Small thing but annoying. BMW have flinched at the notion of their big bikes not appealing to a 'younger audience' (sounds like they 've been listening to the ABC board). Yes, it's lighter but the standard bike comes a litre lighter and doesn't come with a centre stand. Let's see what the 1400 comes with in about a years time.
Mate, you summed it much better than I did, I was stumbling around like a verbal Muppet!!!
Let's face it BMW killed the big GS - ugly front and rear plus lack of character and presence. Just another v-strom like bike
My thoughts exactly, it's for girls or VStrom riders!!! Wish I'd have thought of that for the video, damn!
So you’re saying it finally looks better :-)
