I wasn't self diagnosed until I was almost 40 and when I did learn of Asperger's it was sooooo obvious. I had the same issues with friends who treated me like I was a freak, too. The weirdest part of that though is that I think they may have been undiagnosed aspies as well. We all met while in high school because we were stuck in algebra. Many aspies have trouble with algebra. Temple Grandin talks about this in her TED talk. They were a bit more high functioning than me in ways though so I guess that's why I was the freak. Kind of like Karl and Ricky and Stephen.
