In 1996 I was studying in Manchester. One day I borrowed Incunabula from a friend not knowing what to expect. Autechre’s first album. I put it on to listen in my tiny student dorm on a Sunday morning. Opening track Kalpol introl (a very different version than this) was the first ever track I listened by Autechre. I was immediately hooked. By the time Basscadet was unfolding, my mind was blown away. It was exactly the music I wanted to hear. I will never forget that day. Now it’s the first time I listen to this version. It brought tears to my eyes.
Are you kidding me? My brain would’ve melted if I heard this in a club in ‘94. It’s a transcendent piece of music. Since the beginning, they’ve had a deep, almost peerless mastery of their tools and a uniquely refracted connection to the sublime. Masters of our age.
They really were something else live. Some of my mates were into Hawkwind, loop guru, transglobal underground, chemical brothers groove rider, Carl Cox etc. Real pioneers doing some great nights
When I saw Autechre at the Nia Centre in Manchester in 1994 there was a guy who wouldn’t shut up about how he’d travelled back from 2027. We all just thought he’d taken too much acid. Nice to meet you again!
They say they look back on a lot of their older stuff and see it as cheesy but man all of its still so ahead of the curve, always find myself back in it at least once a year
Jeez... The number of tracks I've listened to over the years where there's that same unimaginative, repetitive, fucking sentence. Mr Hopcroft, please think of something new to say. Or even better, fuck off. No offence.
@@thekensilva Orbital is absolutely amazing too. Somewhere Out There, The Box, Funny Break and Girl with Sun in Her Head are just so good. Rarely anyone listened to these back when I was growing up.
This masterpiece gives me goosebumps, ecstacy, sadness, life, wonderment, awe, and always puts a big grin on my face. It also causes involuntary creaming of my pants.
Holy shit this live version is astonishing. Thought I loved the original track to 11/10 already but this just puts it way over the fucking top. What GODS of electronic music, true progenitors
It is not so easy for me to find a proper description of my experience, while listening to this music. I am listening to their music for more than 15 years. What about: incredible. "Incredible" should have been understood in its positive connotation. "Amazing" might be another word, but I am not going to be too wordy. ;-) wow
This is a parcel of my Heaven musical. That's break beat intemporal could be the field guilde to beyond my minds. It s a great pleasure to share this powerful track. with you. salut à vous
Was it 1994? 192 Coldharbour lane. It was a great underground club. The 80s and 90s were great. There used to be regular nights at Hampton court if I remember right. It was so many years ago.
The CALPOL® Family are the products that generations of mums and dads have reached for when their children were feeling poorly and they just want to help make them feel better.
ae are probably the most influential electro group ever. like, how do you even explain wtf is this track? then they went out and made exai twenty years later.
i like this a lot! unfortunately i cannot download the song from the link in the watmm forum. if any one has the file i would be happy if you share it with me!
Hey guys! It seems for me, you are not understand this comment. 444 was also an Autechre single. This is the reason why the 14,444 number of view was so interesting. Cheers.
It's crazy - it sounds exactly like white/pink noise through a Moog Murf. But this was 15 years before the Murf was invented. If I had to guess what they were doing, it'd be noise through a bandpass filter shaped by an AD envelope. Or they could have sampled the filtered noise burst, but I'm not sure what gear they were using at this period.
30 years later and this master piece is still mindblowing
The best, most innovative live version of any song- anywhere, anytime.

Yep, Basscadet was awesome too : ) I liked the other version of Kalpol as well, it was just so peaceful and serene.
Basscadet is an absolute banger!
Felt the same way when I heard flutter

It's crazy that this was performed in 1994. This song transcends well beyond its years.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
The silence after this track ends is immense. There's just the pounding of my heart.
I've just confirmed that it doesn't get any better than this.
Correct observation
not better but also not worse
@@tunas5666 it does get worse than this
Man I miss older Autechre, those were some great days
They say they look back on a lot of their older stuff and see it as cheesy but man all of its still so ahead of the curve, always find myself back in it at least once a year
I still like some of their newer stuff but I totally understand this feeling. I usually find myself revisiting the older stuff more usually.
Can't believe this is one I've missed
Older stuff has more feeling
tri repetae?
The best part of this track is from 0:00 to 10:57
Yep.

7 people so shaken by the awesomeness of this track that they clicked left_mouse_button at the wrong time as their cursor wobbled around
I like this so much more than the original.
One of the most profound pieces of electronica I've ever had the fortune to hear. Sublime's the word.
Yeah, it's epic like the Somewhere Out There tracks by Orbital

This is absolutely stunning. Never heard this live version, this could be the best 10:57 mins of music ever created.
It never gets old! A true masterpiece and it can't be played loud enough. I really wish there was a better quality version somewhere.
