I have had my Typhoon H Plus for almost two years and finally decided to open the box and fly it. Absolutely amazing ! I can't believe I have been missing out on all the fun for so long.
This was the drone that I always wanted. I remember when the phantom came out this was its competition. I used to see it in Dells website for 2-3k. I never bought it at the time since I couldn't afford it so I went with Phantom. But I still want it especially after watching this. I just love how big it is and all the motors on it. I still love it and its 21 :)
I have the Pro version with Intelsense. It's almost 8 months old and has suffered two minor crashes covered under warranty. There was an issue with the GPS module. Otherwise I agree with your review 100%. Your drone is in amazing shape because you take care of it. Hand catching takes so much stress off the structure and makes you look like a pro eh? I love this machine! It may not have some video clarity as the Phantom 4 pro but I don't care because I have Sony Mirrorless cameras for high end work. This is my toy and use the footage for B rolls only. The best thing about my H I love seems immature for my age (I think we are the same age) and it's just way too cool looking that any DJI drone. When I take it out in public, everyone gravitates to me and those "white toys" are ignored! Compared to any other hobby drone, this thing looks badass! Seagulls and other pesky birds leave it alone. And that's what's important to me. Yuneec customer service is beyond amazing. DJI can't even come close. Fly Safe
Glad to hear you are loving your H! I find the camera is not too bad if used in manual mode. As you mentioned, it does not come as close to the image quality of the Phantom 4 Pro though. I find I'm flying the smaller drones more now than the larger drones (Mavic and Spark) vice the Typhoon H & Phantom 4 Pro. It all comes down to portability.
Oh yes I totally agree. I go to Hawaii every year and last year I was able to take my Q5004K on the plane with it's factory backpack. This year's trip is going to be a challenge because the H back pack is way too big to drag on the plane. I'm trying to see if I can take the legs off and just put it in a large soft backpack. It will be much cheaper than buying a Mavic to take with me. Besides, I'm not sure if the little thing can fly in the 35-40 MPH tradewinds on the island.
I do not like dji products. But the mav can do those wind speed's very well. It is more aerodynamic than a phantom . It has a high power to weight ratio. I use larger hexacopter's for pro use. I like how potable the mav is.
I lOVE my Typhoon H. I hand catch every time since one bouncy landing caused my camera mount to loose a washer. Since then, I have hundreds of hours of fantastic video. I bought a hard shell back pack to make transporting much safer. I would recommend this brand to anyone. The stability of the unit and the 360 degree camera and retractable gear make for great shots. have broken a few blades when I got too close to my vehicle but that's an easy fix with replacements.
Thanks much, I walked into a pawn shop one of my favorite pastimes and this was sitting on a endcap for 450.00. I stopped picked it up and said mine! Have to buy a couple new batteries and propellers but otherwise looks ;good. No damage of anything. I looked it over very closely and especially the wiring and all the joints, dusty but solid. Just to be safe I got ab6 month warranty to cover anything I couldn’t see. Very excited to have it and looking forward to flying my first no DJI Drone. Thanks for the positive review I remembered seeing this and exactly what to look for with it. Think it will be fun and a good bird for my work.
Thank you for the review. I have mine (H Pro RS) now since 8 months without any major issues (occasionally little toilet bowls but that was due to only having a low number of satellites connected). It's flying super stable even in rough conditions and the video and photo functionalities are outstanding. I do have so much confidence in this bird that I am even flying it in the forest, etc.
love my Typhoon H Pro...i called Yuneec to ask a few questions and tell them i didnt get a neck strap they were very accommodating and sent one right out to me. this is my 5th drone between the Typhoon H Pro and the bebop2 i have the most fun, great vid man
This is an awesome drone!! I have four thypoons h,never had any issues Although batteries don’t last but 13 and 14 minutes now,I still have lots of fun with them.
I have to say again this is one of the best drones on the market. I have DJI Phantoms and tested Mavics etc. But this is for me the best cinematic drone for filming I have ever used. Good review and spot on on information
I am a huge fan of the Typhoon H. I got mine back in May of 2016 and probably have a little over 100 flights on three batteries that I rotate. I get roughly 14-18min on these batteries. I did manage to break one of my landing gears - apparently it isn't designed to land in trees - my fault. I have continually done the firm-ware updates and have been quite happy with this piece of equipment. I have my FAA commercial drone license and the looks of the Typhoon H go a long way towards looking "serious" for customers. I will also attest to the TH's ability to handle strong winds (not recommended by Yuneec), I'm not going to throw any numbers out but let's just say the wind speeds give full sized aircraft difficulty. Great follow-up video, I appreciate you putting it together.
Great summary, have had mine for a year too and no problems whatsoever. Its been flying like a dream, no flyaways or anything. I was planning to upgrade to the H520 but may go for the H920+ if it ever gets to Denmark (pretty much all retailers are DJI only :( ).
Great video. Thinking of upgrading from Q500+ to the H and your video was one of the best reviews of the H. Appreciate the work that goes into making these videos so wanted to say thanks
Im so in love with the Typhoon h! or any hexicopter. could never afford one but somedays i catch myself watching 5 hrs of these youtube videos. I think im obsessed, maybe i should seek help. HEEELLLLP!!!
I've had my Q500 and Typhoon H since, Fulfilled August 05, 2016, on both and have NEVER had one issue with either. I have added a lot of extra things like full aviation lights on Q drone, and on the H I have the add on long range antenna systems on board and ST16. I have been extremely happy with my copters and they have never failed me. One thing I have NOT done since new on either is to EVER update them to newest software. To many people have had issues with this over the time I have owned mine so kept them just as I got them. I have written a few apps for my H and added to Android tablet and they work flawless such as moving map for way point navigation. I just picked up a few months ago the new 520 drone and nope, I have not updated software on that one either and most likely never will. Oh, and on the batteries. If I do not fly the charged batteries within 1 week of charging I always use my X2 multicharger to discharge the batteries back down to the storage level. I have slide charge markers installed on all my batteries to keep track. I still use the same 3 H batteries that i bought with copter and they still get about the same times on them. The q batteries i have like 8, and they all are still good. You must, just as the copter, correctly maintain your batteries even though its a pain to discharge them etc....but if you are not going to be able to fly always discharge them back to storage level and they will last many years. Keep up the great videos.
batfirewaf123 . You said you have a moving map. Can you tell us how that works? Maybe show a video? I would love to see a map as I fly the TH. Also, you said you have a few other apps. Can you fill us in on what apps you have done for the TH? Also, good advice re: batteries!
Two months in on my "H" and so far all has gone well. A couple of issues that just turned out to be my fault but was corrected. I also "catch" my "H" which I believe is the best way to go, not because it won't land well it just takes less stress off the model overall. A friend of mine has a Phantom 4 pro and is now selling it for a Typhoon H, its just a super cool Drone.
I have really enjoyed your reviews for about a year now. I bought my Typhoon H about the same time as you, unfortunately, I'm old and have to get someone in my family interested in flying, so far, I'm still waiting, but I enjoy getting it out of the case and watching you fly it for me, HA HA.
Hi captain drone love watching your videos on the typhoon h and have just purchased one myself. Keep the videos coming I find them very informative and helpful.
Great video, in fact all your videos have been very informative . I have also had my Typhoon H for a year and apart from an early days crash when I was a novice everything has been fine. I am still running on the original firmware apprehensive about updating to the latest - too many horror stories after updates. Keep up the good work.
Just the confirmation that I needed. I'm planning to buy a Yuneec H520 drone for search and rescue purposes, and one concern was flying it in inclement weather during a search. This video answers that for me in the affirmative. I'm assuming that the H520 would get a similar review as the Typhoon H - I think the H520 is a derivative of the Typhoon H with just some extra capabilities. Therefore, the Yuneec is a definite upcoming drone purchase by me for search and rescue, with the Yuneec CGOET camera, which is another concern because of its low thermal resolution - a quarter of the FLIR Duo Pro R thermal camera. I wish Yuneec would come out with a 640x480 thermal resolution camera for the H520. If they do, I'll be first in line to buy it to replace the original CGOET.
I'm a beginner at flying drones period. I have crashed my typhoon H twice. Both crash's are definitely operator error. Ive gotten better at flying my drone. Just got to say if you are mechanically inclined this is the drone for you, very easy to repair.
Haven't had much time to fly mine, and I'm too afraid to fly it in the rain so I never attempted it, but glad to know it survived. The other issue is birds, something I didn't really think about when I first purchased it.
I really like video reviews like this. It's so hard to really get a good sense of the pros/cons of these drones, especially the more advanced ones like this after just a few flights. I also like to see how the product matures over time in terms of updates and fixes. Sounds like Yuneec did a great job in that regard. This big dog was a bit intimidating to me so I never seriously considered getting one, but your video gives it a nice appeal.
I crashed my typhoon h about a year ago, and unfortunately was too broke and incompetent to get it fixed or fix it myself, I had to kinda fix the gimbal with the help of a friend, replace a landing gear motor, and replace one of the arm brackets that was designed to fail. First off, it's super, super simple to fix everything. I bought a super cheap set of hex screwdrivers on amazon, and did the repair in about 3 hours collectively (I had to wait for parts to ship, took me about 3-4 days total). I've also flown my drone in bad weather, snow, light rain, blistering heat, etc. and no problems. Other than user error, like leaving batteries charged unused for a year, I've had 0 problems with it. It's a great piece of hardware, I just wish the controller screen was higher resolution.
I like the idea of "not so smart" batteries ... There are several options for battery storage of Yuneec batteries in the way of battery chargers . I believe Yuneec has a dual charger that will perform the needed storage you speak of. I rather like the Venom four battery charger, however it is expensive :(
My Typhoon Pro with realsense is a brilliant piece of tech , never had an issue with it , rock steady hover , so easy to control , the modular design is fantastic , im just waiting on the alleged 20 megapixel camera Yuneec have been hinting at , as for storage charging , look up the Ev Peak duo charger , just for the Typhoon H , all digital readouts and so useful , Mostly can be found in Germany , well worth the money . Excellent review , brilliant machine :-)
I know I’m a little late to the party but being a newbee and hearing that DJI was coming out with ? July 18th I decided to go with something tried and true and got a refurb with manufacture’s warranty. Will build some pilot skills and determine my real requirements on this and wait for DJI announcement and working out and bugs, maybe even a discount (forever an optimist). Thanks for your review! I saw another of your videos with a female newbee and thought this option makes sense. Would be very interested to see a 2 yr review if only to see what to expect.
Great video, I have had mine for 12 months as well but have it up for sale here in Australia. I was very happy with it's performance but as I got better with taking the shot I realised the camera was letting it down and found it difficult to transport by foot, I had a lot of accessories that wouldn't fit in the back pack. I finally purchased the i2 and Mavic for portability. The H is still a great machine and have taken some great shots but wish they would have upgraded the camera without having to upgrade the H. Who knows if it doesn't sell I may just keep it.
I do agree that Yuneec is a bit slow on releasing add on products for the Typhoon H. The longer they wait, the more people will move on to another drone. Then you have DJI which does the exact opposite by releasing a new drone every 8 months which also angers DJI owners because now their drone is no longer the popular one.
About the battery, I been letting mine hover maybe a 12 to 20 inch above the ground and just letting it flop down when its completely exhausted its power, try your best to keep around 12 inches above ground , no repairs yet.
Good video I had a q500 I lost gpS an it crash . I just bought typhoon h +. Off eBay. They sold it for 1500. I got it down to 1350. I'm really InPress. Haven't flow it yet. Reading all info first. Excellent 👍 condition. Can't wait to fly it's. It really advance. If u going to buy a quad like this check out eBay first. I have warranty on it.
@@GodlessEurope antoher guy having his wife run his life,,,,lol sad,, ,, (just messing around,---- sort of ) to me, DJi is the most annoying company out there, drone wise. They act like their shit doesn't stink, I do admit they make a nice aircraft, however the aggravation they gave me on more than one occasion has lost me as a customer , and I have 4 of em. But then again I have met many people that dont mind the ridiculous rules, signing on, constant upgrading , having to go out and by an expensive tablet, etc etc,, Yuneec does not stop me from flying on my own property in a flight path, that THEY think is dangerous,, ( I know lots of people agree with that, I do not) and just a general arrogance that they have, like charging over 500 bucks for their monitor,, I think they suck, period,, go ahead, give it to me, all you Apple /DJI overs,,,lol
I agree on pretty much all your facts, except the missing smart battery . One of the main advantages I see is, that Yuneec doesn't use over priced smart batteries. I charge my batteries with an after market battery charger. This allows me to have full control over all cells and charging options. First I used a special adapter, now I have a charger designed for the Typhoon H battery pack. After flying all batteries are charged to storage mode. Before going ot in the skies I charge up my batts. So far I have never had an issue with any Yuneec battery. Including my Q 500 as well. It doesn't make any sense to fully charge a battrey and discharge it after 3 days for storage. And it sure will not expaned the life span of a lipo. My DJI Phatom crashed from the sky, due to an error on the smart battery .
Thank you for the honest 1yr review. I'm strongly considering buying this model & to hear it's still performing well after a year is awesome. I've already bought/sold the Mavic Pro & Phantom 4 drones so looking at something different. Tbh i was impressed with the DJI drones but they seem to be making them buggy with each firmware release. Shame really. Anyway, like I said, thanks for the honest review, you just earned yourself a new subscriber!
I agree with your review as well. Had H with realsense wince Nov 2016. Had 1 crash on its first take off due to it being in the safety zone. Yuneec support took care of replacement parts, explained what I had done wrong and how to resolve it. The realsense is awesome and has stopped me from running into leafless tress and power lines. Unlike a DJI Mavic, it doesn't see those things as well as the Yuneec. The only complaints I have to add to this, is the range, the need for a mapping feature and the CGO-ET camera's poor quality. I fly for search and rescue efforts often using this drone. When over a wooded area, I can only get about 1,200 feet of range. I also fly a DJI mavic and can get 1 mile in the same area. The mapping feature would be great when trying to fly a grid patern and knowing what area's I've already searched. The CGO-ET camera does provide a very cheap way to get aerial thermal for night work, but it's low resolution and hard to find people, let alone something larger like a horse at those heights. Overall though, its a great economical drone that gets the job done.
I appreciate the video. I own a Mavic Pro and I wanted a Yuneec because of the wow factor. I subscribed to your page and I look forward to more videos by you. Thanks Mike
Great video, I guess different strokes, for different not folks! LoL. I had the typhoon H pro for 6 months and sold it bc I was fed up with not wanting to accept the new firmware that a new 1 seems to come out every month.. so I bought a DJI p4p and I absolutely love it.. and yes of course they have often updates as well, but with there's I've had not a minutes trouble getting it to accept new firmware.. there's pros and cons in both...
Thank you! The Typhoon did have plenty of firmware updates for the first 8 months. Some adding new features and others fixing previous firmware updates. There have been no firmware updates in sometime. I have 3 DJI drones (Phantom 4 Pro, Mavic Pro, Spark) and like Yuneec they do and will receive plenty of firmware updates for about the first 8 months. Unfortunately this is where we are today with technology. Manufactures get the product to about the 90% mark, put it on the market and fix the last 10% via thousands of unsuspecting beta-testers.
Captain Drone, I've been enjoying the Typhoon H quite a bit but I do have a situation I'm wondering if you can help. I notice that when I try to start moving the drone slowly say real close to landscape or fly slow the drone tends to jerk constantly, if I hold the stick in place it will move but with a bobble effect. If I increase the stick input then it stabilizes but it moves to fast for what I'm trying to achieve. I tried making my own rate curve for aileron, rudder, elevator and it helped on the faster speeds but at the initial stick input and holding it's jerky. Any advice would surely be of help.
I do not have this drone anymore. It has been gone for over a year. You could be getting the ground effect as well as less GPS due to structure blocking the signal.
Thorough update, nice work. I have a P4 but have no misconceptions due to silly brand loyalty. These Typhoons are beginning to show here in the UK a bit more now, wonder how the backup service is here? If the factory imposes their own standards on their importers hopefully it won't matter where you live.
I just love Typhoon H aerial photography! I have a confusion that Typhoon comes back to the take off location or where the present controller is (may be away from take off point) for Home command? I tried blogs and other places, did not get any clarification. Do you know about it? I hope to hear from you. Thanx for all your help so far.
Can you answer my question, in case if you know it and if you do not mind. --->"I have a confusion that Typhoon comes back to the take off location or where the present controller is (may be away from take off point) for Home command?" Thanx.
I agree with most of what you said in this video. Probably 2 exceptions. First is the range issues. DJI brags about their range on some of their model that is up to 4 miles +_. That's a big difference than the range I get on my "H" with 3 antennas which averages less than 1/2 mile when I start having interrupted signals to my camera and then loss of tracking and I have no idea where it is or what its doing until I bring it back closer to "home base. The second issue is the USA customer service response or lack there of when you call into their call center. Waiting on hold for 20 - 45 minutes is not what I call great or even good customer service. Yes for the most part when you do get them they address the issues well for the most part. Waiting is money and money is why I use the drone period. Like you, when they first came out there were significant problems and I had my share. The most expensive problem cost me an account and potential great customer when I was hoovering about 100' altitude, explaining the functionality of the H when it decided to assume full power, go straight up for another 100' and then still under full power came straight down and only stopped when the "parts" count reached somewhere about 125. Talking to yuneec CS was pointless. They did nothing but suggest I send it to them so they could analyse it for probable cause, i.e. buy another one and hope for better results. It's been almost 3 years and I have two that I fly regularly, still have occasional problems requiring recalibrations, updates etc. Have I thought about switching to DJI you bet I have and if I didn't have the $$$ & time investment that I do I would make the switch now that they have built in monitors, 4 mile range, faster flights etc. etc. and much the same capabilities. Well, guess that's more than enough and more than I originally intended. Richard
Hey Richard, you are not alone. I have heard from many Typhoon H owners who have had strange issues. I myself had an attempted fly away once that ended well (I eventually got it under control). Yuneec, back in 2016, had exceptional service. But then the company started to lose money, laid of staff, and customer service in the US went downhill.
That’s really cool. I saw one today in a pawn shop complete box and everything. So it looked like whoever had it treated it right. The problelem came when I asked to fire up the remote and drone and was told not until I forked over the cash they wanted, sorry no way unless the seals had not been broken on the box. So I passed, still thinking about it however. I’ve been DJI all the way but this one has always had my eye. So I might go back.............
Pretty much every store (even hobby stores) will not let you fire up a large drone, even if used. I would just work out with them a 24 hour return policy if possible.
CAPTAIN DRONE I didn’t wanna fly instore, I just wanted to make sure everything worked as it should have. No props doing something like that would be suicide in a store. I mean ceiling fans and banners and I wasn’t going to ask to take it outside and risk it flying away or some other disaster . So I bought a Spark this morning. The free remote promo was just to good to pass on. I hope it compliment my phantom👍🏻
ou'll certainly be able to fly more places with your Spark then you would have with the Typhoon H. The Spark is a great drone with lots of tech at a great price.
Hi, I watch your videos and I find them useful. But I must add some info about Battery. All say dji has inteligent battery where we can see how much battery is left. But they don't know, yuneec typhoon h has also info about battery. In manual say when insert the battery and start the typhoon h, first color what it appears under the drone say about status from battery. If first color is green, then battery is full. If color is orange, battery is 50%. If color is red, then battery is empty. I hope this will help others too
I got mine second hand for $565 had only ten flights. Had it for a year and no problems at all even bumped a tree limb ad broke half a prop, was able to land safely. Only wish it had something like mission planner could have google earth map and video in something like p.i.p. Only had home built drones with pixhawk before that. Still fly both but typhoon is my go to for travel.
Have a question about Typhoon H, how good is the collision avoidance without IntelReal Sense? I did not notice that in your flight review. Your response will be appreciated.
Can you explain a little more about the near fly away and how you kept it under control? In this video you just brushed by the subject. It could be important to know how you resolved the problem, thanks.
It only happened once. What saved me was that I fly it straight up above the trees and kept it there as it attempted to fly away. To stop it from flying away I just kept putting it in and out of Return To Home mode & then taking it out of it. It didn't know where home was so when it flew in one direction, hitting return to home caused it to fly in another direction. Eventually after a few minutes it figured out where it was in relation to the ST16 and came back under control. It has not repeated such an incident since. Here is the video link: ua-cam.com/video/WwYlYl-XHiM/v-deo.html
@@JAM-jt9yw I think the price is due to the 5 batteries. The batteries won't be great due to age and because Yuneec does not use Smart Batteries, but you may get anywhere from 8 to 17 mins out of each battery. The best way to know if the price is good for your area is to just do a search on the used websites and as well eBay and see what the going prices are and decide from there.
Very true. I have plenty of DJI Drones which are smaller in size (I really like small drones), but when it is windy, it sometimes becomes a "no fly" day with the DJI Mavic Pro & Spark.
If the battery was a smart battery, then this drone would be super amazing. I'm surprised Yuneec or another company has not made a smart battery & charger option for the Typhoon H.
CAPTAIN DRONE saving battery power on my H is just a matter of discharging it to 15V before storing it. I just let it hover in the backyard or have a shorter flight in general. If you store them at 15V they stay in great shape.
I just purchased a typhoon h yesterday. I was wondering what is the other round GPS antenna that comes with the remote it has three antennas and an extra round one with a yellow sticker on top..what is that for?
CAPTAIN DRONE but I have an extra.. It has a yellow sticker on top..is it a replacement or is it used for something different? Thanks for the reply and for the amazing vids.
It must be something that Yuneec has been adding to the pro package. In the world of RC, a round antenna means an antenna that is used to receive or send a video transmission. The reason is round is because it allows the transmission to be picked up even if the drone is behind you. The straight antennas are designed more for direction. You face tham at 90 degrees to your drone. Yuneec does make more expensive cameras that include a round antenna as well (one on the camera & one on the ST16).
CAPTAIN DRONE thanks for the detailed reply cap. Still javent flown her yet but I will soon. Ill let y'all know how it goes. Its not a pro but it has the upgraded antenna amd software...
I just bought the H Pro a couple of weeks ago and it also came with two video antennas, one round and one square. The round one works like you said even if the H is behind you. The square one is directional and if you keep it pointed at the H it greatly increases the range of the video signal. I hope this helps and I love your videos.
Now there is a question no one has ever asked. The Typhoon H is not designed to add non Typhoon H Yuneec cameras. You can take off the existing camera and jerry rig another camera if you have the technical skills.
I am fed up with DJI Phantom 4 Pro, video is great but I have had to send both of my Phantom 4 Pro's in for repair and now I have to send another one in again for cracks. I haven't had either of my drones for 6 months yet. I'm really considering to buy a Typhoon H .
Good video, the Typhoon looks really solid!!! You should be GLAD your typhoon is not using a so called "smart" battery. Why? Because you can easily use any normal LiPo with a little diy modification on your Yuneec Typhoon H! On my DJI Phantom 2 and 3, I don't have that option, and I am forced to use the proprietary "smart" battery dji dictatorship makes. You know what that means? I have to pay $150 for a new battery, which is basically a glorified LiPo (or LiHV for the Phantom 3), connected to a circuit board that manages discharging, charging, battery identification my the drone, etc. On the Phantom 2, I can't find any new "fresh" batteries, but only stock old batteries from 2-3 years ago... On the Phantom 2, I actually just found a workaround to use any regular LiPo, but on the Phantom 3 that is IMPOSSIBLE to bypass!
Oh, do tell! I'm going a purchase a new drone soon so being able to mod LiPo's is interesting. For me it's a toss-up between the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 or the newly released Typhoon H Plus.
I get asked that a lot, so I may do a video on it in the future. All I can say, without going into detail, is that if you want portability & a drone to take on vacation or travels then the Mavic Air is the one. If you are more interested in showing up at a park with a cool drone that draws attention, then the Typhoon H is the one.
just want to add publicly, I was one of the first people to buy a Yuneec Typhoon q500 (the white one) . I have to say I beat the living shit out of that aircraft,,, lol. It never let me down once. once I forget about smart mode and I flew it into some thorn bushes and got pretty cut up retrieving it,,lol but it was ok, not a scratch on it. wish I could say the same,,,lol From there I purchased a Typhoon 500 4 k,. Same thing, no issues at all, then I purchased the Typhoon. I remember waiting for the mail, like a lttle kid, I was so excited I could barely contain myself,,lol ( im 58) lol again, same thing,, always perfect. but then I lost my way, and fell into the DJI Trap, I did like them, and currently own 4 DJI drones, there fine, but,,,,,,, ah,,, not the same, I cant tell you why, recently I saw the light and purchased the Yuneec typhoon H Plus with the new one inch sensor , and a Typhoon H with the cgo3 + I am happy again, lol you couldn't ask for a better aircraft, flew both today and cant stop smiling' good info Steve, great videos,, wish I had your patience doing this,
Dear Cpt. Drone, North America is just not the US, I have talked to a few commercial drone resellers in Canada and most of them don't carry it anymore due to poor demand.
good review. I am thinking of buying one, but seeing some other reviews put me off, I think you have reinterested me in it. I hope the latest one is more better. I do think they need to put some more things onto it like the DJI pro has.
Great video!, you seem like a knowledge based hobbyist that understands the capabilities of each tools you have and respect it as it is, that's a great mentality for both hobbyist and content creators :). I'm looking to buy a drone for a short-film this summer, thanks for the info. Because unfortunately while doing my research on drones I came across a lot of freaks who seems to think technologies are these indestructible objects to be abused in impractical ways. like a certain friend I knew who never changed his car's oil for 2 years lol
Thanks Patrick. Most drones under the $2000 range (yup, that is costly), have cameras that are good for "B-Roll" footage, which I'm guessing you're looking for. So, from the $500 price range and up, you should be fine with whatever you choose.
I see I'll definitely look within those prices and see If they have the settings I want. thanks again!!. And I'm working on a small Documentary for a dancer trying to make a name on social media.B-Rolls are a major part of it :). you give good reviews keep it up!!
I need to buy a drone to some footages, but i'm very confused. Can you give me an information, please? I need a drone with a camera with 720p ( minimum ) and 20x zoom ( at least ). I know that this camera in this drone haven't zoom. What can i do? Can i to purchase any camera, sold separatelly to put in this drone? Is there some specific technical detail that i must to know? I am a "virgin" when the subject is drones. Can you help?
Most drone cameras do not have zoom, unless you wish to purchase a Parrot Anafi or DJI Mavic 2 Zoom or an Inspire 2. There are not many drones on the market that have 720p anymore. You are best to just get yourself an MJXRC BUGS 4W or JJRC X11
Hello, Glad you are enjoying it. I was on the Island of Cyprus back in the 1990's and visited both the Turkish and Greek sides as a tourist. The entire island was very nice with the beautiful Mediterranean surrounding it.

CAPTAIN DRONE thanks most beautiful sea water Greek with turkey between ege sea.. Our country government is suck :( and now everywhere is Syrian people :( what ever. Thanks for answer.. Try to "dc6 balance charger" 1 discharge,2 charge, 3 balance step by step..
Is this drone still relevant in 2019 almost 2020? Or is there a better one in the price range? I see they still sell this drone but a later model of it.
Yuneec still sells it and people still buy it. You do get plenty for the price you pay. Only downside is that it is large.... but it is also extremely cool looking.
Don't know if you read comments on older vids, but I was wondering if this drone is still up to par in 2020. I gotta say, it's the controller I love the most. Very intuitive and more like a real RC controller that I'm used to. Is there anything else that comes close to that controller in today's drone market?
It is not comparable to modern small foldable drones, however the Typhoon H (the original) and all models of the Typhoon H that followed, are the only HEX consumer drones on the market with a big 7" monitor built in. My brother-in-law has the original and he still flies it ... and crashes it ... and repairs it, but he loves it.
I love your videos, I have a typhoon H, what’s the best practice for storing the batteries? Should they always be discharged if it’s going to sit around for a while?
It was a bit concerning at the time, but since I was in an area mostly surrounded by water & trees, I was not too worried about it crashing into someone or someone's property.
Just purchased the Typhoon H and it arrived today. I been flying about three years and upgraded from Phantom 2 which crashed due to a bad battery. really torn up the ribbon wires on the gimbal. Anyway ... the ST16 came with the usual antennas and one in the accessories box. I'm assuming it is an upgrade from the 'mushroom' one that came with he controller? Thank you for your videos they have been quite informative.
I love your video. It’s awesome to see because I just got my Typhoon H. I was curious if there was a way to deactivate the 5 meter bubble around the controller
Steve I haven’t flown my typhoon in a while. I needed to watch your video for a refresher course before I take it back out
I have the Pro version with Intelsense.
Number6
bushpilot2001
Mavic sucks in high wind, it just blows the gimbal all over the place
Very nice. Hope you enjoy your new purchase.
Got my Typhoon H on 6/01/2016 and so far is an outstanding working tool.
Good to hear that many people are enjoying the H.
Had my typhoon h for 3 years working great after 151 hrs of use no issues gentle use with mine I use it for photos and videos
Madre, 151 horas de vuelo?? Increíble!! Felicidades!!
Good to hear!
love my Typhoon H Pro...i called Yuneec to ask a few questions and tell them i didnt get a neck strap they were very accommodating and sent one right out to me. this is my 5th drone between the Typhoon H Pro and the bebop2 i have the most fun, great vid man
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying your Typhoon H.
This is an awesome drone!!
I have four thypoons h,never had any issues
Although batteries don’t last but 13 and 14 minutes now,I still have lots of fun with them.
You have 4 of em? Ya probly wanna give one to a good home :)
I have to say again this is one of the best drones on the market. I have DJI Phantoms and tested Mavics etc. But this is for me the best cinematic drone for filming I have ever used. Good review and spot on on information
Man that is a COOL drone.
Thank you & I'm very glad you are enjoying your H!
Ive been saving to buy one of these. The more videos Ive seen, the more I like about it.
You may be able to find a used one in great condition at a great price.
Thank you, very much appreciated. Enjoy the new H, it's a one of a kind camera drone.
Keep up the great videos.
batfirewaf123
. You said you have a moving map. Can you tell us how that works? Maybe show a video? I would love to see a map as I fly the TH. Also, you said you have a few other apps. Can you fill us in on what apps you have done for the TH? Also, good advice re: batteries!
Great review, and I have to agree all the way - mine is a year old and continues to perform amazingly well.
Great to hear!
Just got one of these. Happy to see good reviews.
Or Im watching this video because I like drones...
Nah I'm just broke...
Great to hear! You're a pro if you're confident hand catching.
I have really enjoyed your reviews for about a year now. I bought my Typhoon H about the same time as you, unfortunately, I'm old and have to get someone in my family interested in flying, so far, I'm still waiting, but I enjoy getting it out of the case and watching you fly it for me, HA HA.
Hey Danilo, you'll love it even more when you get it up in the air on a quiet sunrise morning.
Thanks for the review really good at 66 I am getting into the drone hobby your review swayed me
thanks from Australia
Thanks Adrian, you're having great weather, so you may as well get out and enjoying more with flying! Nothing but snow and cold in my area of Canada.
Hi captain drone love watching your videos on the typhoon h and have just purchased one myself. Keep the videos coming I find them very informative and helpful.
Thank you! There should be more videos in the future that include the Typhoon H.
ha, im still going strong since my last check both the Q500 and H are doing great and to this day have never had an issue of any type.
Great video, in fact all your videos have been very informative . I have also had my Typhoon H for a year and apart from an early days crash when I was a novice everything has been fine. I am still running on the original firmware apprehensive about updating to the latest - too many horror stories after updates. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Purchased mine for $475 very happy for what i got
Where did you get it?
Beautiful! Style controller range ain’t 10km but who really needs to fly that far. Love the sound. Just nice 👍
Small birds tend to avoid the Typhoon. Large birds may not like it.
You can get it for 400 dollars refurbished
If the controller screen had higher res, the live feed would still be low quality
For sure, but when I'm reviewing pictures or videos from the SD card in the field, I'd like to have a little more resolution on that end of things
Spot on! I still love mine and I personally think the picture quality is second to none at the price point. An amazing machine for sure. Great video.
Very nice Review. I am not sure which drone I shall buy. You helped me decide the right drone for me. Thanks very much!
You're welcome & happy flying!
Thank you. Excellent that you are enjoying your Typhoon H!
Thank you for the review. Exactly what I was looking for, an honest everyday Joe user's perspective.
Thank you, enjoy!
Actually, I was about to buy a Spark until I watched your Typhoon H vids. Now I'm totally undecided again :)
Both have about the same range of flight and flight time. It pretty much depends if portability is a factor or 4K.
I have had mine since late 2016 September or so. I love it!
Thanks for the input can't wait to buy it I've been wanting this for a while
Good video! Typhoon H was the first drone I came across and watched a lot but eventually bought Mavic Pro.
Arvid Kracht my next one will be next gen of Phantom, P5 or P5 pro, all depends on when my wife will let me get one lol
But then again I have met many people that dont mind the ridiculous rules, signing on, constant upgrading , having to go out and by an expensive tablet, etc etc,, Yuneec does not stop me from flying on my own property in a flight path, that THEY think is dangerous,, ( I know lots of people agree with that, I do not) and just a general arrogance that they have, like charging over 500 bucks for their monitor,,
I think they suck, period,,
go ahead, give it to me, all you Apple /DJI overs,,,lol
traitor!!! lol jk
My DJI Phatom crashed from the sky, due to an error on the smart battery .
surfjet 75 what kind of charge is "storage mode"?
I always like your Yuneec videos.... and I always learn something.............Thanks
You're very welcome Bill. Thanks for watching & commenting!
Thanks, enjoy the Typhoon H!
Buy Dig has a fantastic deal $699 ! Check it out can't beat that price for all the stuff they give you.
Great use for the Typhoon H!
Neither have it nor buying it just like to watch your videos
I appreciate the video. I own a Mavic Pro and I wanted a Yuneec because of the wow factor. I subscribed to your page and I look forward to more videos by you. Thanks Mike
Thanks Mike & welcome to the channel!
Did you get one ?
What a Yuneece update review❤️
Thanks for your video, really appreciate the level of detail. I'm in the market for one and this has cemented it for me.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
I like the Video Thanks for helping me begin using my Typhoon H Drone.
Great, nice to hear it was of help. Happy safe flying!
Can this camera, like the camera on the Q500, be used with the hand holdable SteadyGrip that comes with the Q500 and can be purchased separately?
I believe the answer is YES, but with some modifications to the grip.
Very useful, ordered my Typhoon H yesterday and it will arrive today :)
Perfect, it arrives just before the weekend. Hopefully you have nice weekend flying weather.
Is there any aftermarket batteries with longer duration?
Thanks! Nice to hear that the Typhoon H is beginning to be more present. They do sell for an amazing price when on sell.
love your review.. watching here in taiwan.. hope to see more sjrc f11 flight on winter end..
Thank you!
台灣有人在用Yuneec的空拍機嗎?我覺得光看外型就很想要買來用看看!
Two questions: could I attach a bait release mechanism to the H 3 and is it waterproof? Thank you.
Not waterproof. Not sure if a release mechanism exists.
Can you put the Yuneec CGO ET Thermal camera on the Typhoon H?
I hope this will help others too
ik ben 100% overtuigd en ga bij deze een bestellen thank you four your movie paul
There is a mission planner based on web browser you can plan missions and paths to. Works a lot like APM Planner
Good informational video Captain! I love my Typhoon H. I also have an Inspire 1...
Two great drones!
Have a question about Typhoon H, how good is the collision avoidance without IntelReal Sense? I did not notice that in your flight review. Your response will be appreciated.
Not very good
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you.
Here is the video link: ua-cam.com/video/WwYlYl-XHiM/v-deo.html
hi. does this drone return to home if no contact with transmitter? (lost signal)
It certainly does.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Ok, Thanks.
Would it be a good buy to get 2017 model used for about $400 with hand held gimbal and 5 batteries?
@@JAM-jt9yw I think the price is due to the 5 batteries. The batteries won't be great due to age and because Yuneec does not use Smart Batteries, but you may get anywhere from 8 to 17 mins out of each battery. The best way to know if the price is good for your area is to just do a search on the used websites and as well eBay and see what the going prices are and decide from there.
is there a bigger battery available out there?
Nice video really like the look of it n its great in my country cuz of the wind
Very true. I have plenty of DJI Drones which are smaller in size (I really like small drones), but when it is windy, it sometimes becomes a "no fly" day with the DJI Mavic Pro & Spark.
shame bou battery tho
Kyle Daigle Congrats on your purchase. The round antenna should be your video signal receiver
Hello, Can i mount my MAPIR survey camera on this drone?
Now there is a question no one has ever asked. The Typhoon H is not designed to add non Typhoon H Yuneec cameras. You can take off the existing camera and jerry rig another camera if you have the technical skills.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you very much
GOODNESS the remote is HUGE! 😮
Yes, due to have a 7" tablet in it.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I didn't notice a tablet. Am I BLIND? I need to watch video again! Lol! Thanks for sharing!
What if you are thinking of buying the new dji Mavic air and you might want to buy this in 2018 what would you go for ?
I get asked that a lot, so I may do a video on it in the future. All I can say, without going into detail, is that if you want portability & a drone to take on vacation or travels then the Mavic Air is the one. If you are more interested in showing up at a park with a cool drone that draws attention, then the Typhoon H is the one.
just want to add publicly,
I was one of the first people to buy a Yuneec Typhoon q500 (the white one) .
Same thing, no issues at all,
then I purchased the Typhoon. I remember waiting for the mail, like a lttle kid, I was so excited I could barely contain myself,,lol ( im 58) lol
again, same thing,, always perfect.
but then I lost my way, and fell into the DJI Trap, I did like them, and currently own 4 DJI drones, there fine, but,,,,,,, ah,,, not the same, I cant tell you why,
recently I saw the light and purchased the Yuneec typhoon H Plus with the new one inch sensor ,
and a Typhoon H with the cgo3 +
I am happy again,
lol
you couldn't ask for a better aircraft, flew both today and cant stop smiling'
good info Steve, great videos,, wish I had your patience doing this,
Lol, I left mine in smart mode last weekend and flew it into the side of my house. Only broke am A prop.
It's a great Drone I really like and don't regret my Pawn Store find. A treasure just waiting to be found.
Do they still have this one in 2024 or is there a newer one or what is the latest drone from these guys ?
There is a newer model now
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 would you happen to know the name of the newer one or recent latest one by chance , thanks for the reply

The drones presented by you, don't attend my needs. But anyway, thanks, pal.
i bought mine 28may2016 still good !!. ihave a 2 battery first battery is 12 minutes ,second is good..Hi from Turkey :)
Is it ok that my battery has puffed up?
It looks like it has A LOT of pressure in it so should I get rid of the battery and get a new one?
Is there a better gimbal drone this size for $500? I haven't found a better deal yet and I kinda want to stay away from DJI. Thanks.
where did ya get one for $500?
Is this drone still relevant in 2019 almost 2020? Or is there a better one in the price range? I see they still sell this drone but a later model of it.
Yuneec still sells it and people still buy it. You do get plenty for the price you pay. Only downside is that it is large.... but it is also extremely cool looking.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 i personally prefer a large drone. Ive had my typhoon coming up 2 years and i love it.
Used Typhoon H with 2 batteries and case or new Anafi for same price?
Two very different drones. Do you want portability and something that is very much not that portable? The choice is yours.
I love your videos, I have a typhoon H, what’s the best practice for storing the batteries? Should they always be discharged if it’s going to sit around for a while?
Yes, run them down to 40%
CAPTAIN DRONE how do you know they’re at 40 percent, from the readout on the controller?

Just saw the video you made for the fly away. A little scary around all the water. Thanks for the insight.
Right, your ST16 should be the new model which has 3 external antennas (the one with the square shaped top goes in the center). Happy flying!
I love your video. It’s awesome to see because I just got my Typhoon H. I was curious if there was a way to deactivate the 5 meter bubble around the controller
Thank you! If you fly in SMART MODE you have a bubble. If you fly in ANGLE MODE, then no bubble.... you could literally fly into yourself.
Can you fly this drone without a camera
