- We now move on to more of the very classic days of "The Guiding Light". The upcoming episodes that I will share from the beloved drama that captured the hearts of viewers and listeners for 72 years [in total] are all from June and July of 1966. Some of them will be shared together in a 4-in-1 video just like this one. Speaking of 4-in-1 videos, this compilation contains the episodes from June the 15th, the 20th, the 21st, and the 23rd. All of the episodes have been revised from both the video and audio perspectives.

The memories this brings back. I was 6 years old when this originally aired, my mother watched this every week. And these commercials are incredible... I miss you mom.
I had no idea Charita Bauer had been such a fantastic actress, she is great!
Agreed. She’s so interesting to watch.
That was a powerful performance on Charita's part!
Fran Myers as Peggy was a sweetie pie!
I grew up watching this show and remember my mother listening to it on the radio
Here's a quirky co-incidence. In The UK Emmerdale that Celebrated it's 50th anniversary on October 16th 2022 was once known as Emmerdale Farm. Jenna Louise Coleman was on from 2005-2009 as Jasmine Thomas.
Wow. And I thought there was a lot of commercials these days.
In 1966, GL was 15 min and only showed 3-4 (3 1 min or 2 1 min w/2 30 sec together) commercials with no local ads.
I was born that month (June 19th, 1966)
Here`s another amazing fact. As you know Guiding Light debuted on June 30th 1952 which was Florence Ballard of The Supremes Birthday in 1943. On June 30th 1983 a Young Lady named Cheryl Ann Tweedy was born and on November 30th she became part of Girls Aloud a UK Girlband. She also guest starred on Coronation Street A UK Soap Opera. Robert Gentry is probably next to Nicholas Coster the Man who appeared on More Soaps than anyone else.
@@laminage Thank you for the information, I appreciate it.
My brother, who is 70 now, was born June 19th also, 1953.
@@cynthiakoerner296I was born June 16th 1966.
It's a shame they wrote Peggy out. I loved her!
Oh my God that’s Leslie. She was Rick’s mother. Rick was the only good thing that ever came from Ed. Poor Maureen.
This was live. Live
GL I believe was live until ‘74 when they switched to orchestra theme/background music. Switched to color March ‘67. Switched to 30 minutes in Sept ‘68. Switched to 1 hour in November ‘77.
And to think that in future years Ed Bauer would be Billy Lewis's AA Sponsor. I don't know of any other Family who had Multi Generational Alcoholics. Bill, Then Ed, then Hope. I would have loved for Alan & Hope to reunite in Saint Gabriel, where Hope works as a Interior Decorator, they make peace and she tells him about being sober and she and Alan Michael worked out their differences.
If Bert was handling her business, Bill wouldn’t have been knocking on Maggie’s door!
No Bert apparently was a Grade A Nag. Also Bill Bauer wasn't the first guy to kick it with a Secretary. Roger Sterling did it with Joan on Mad Men, and in a Book called All For The Love Of Daddy by Marcia Rose (Two Writers), Jack Strauss had an affair with his Secretary Linda McElroy. She was so enamoured of him she didn't even date let alone marry another man. She found out the hard way that being his Mistress wouldn't pay off.
