    i would love some visuals with an actual list of your rankings; three lists on the bottom of the screen underneath three video feeds from each of you
    sometimes its difficult to keep track of three peoples different lists and a visual on the screen could help, and you update it throughout the video as rankings are revealed to maintain suspense.
    just an idea. love the show. appreciate you all =)

    something about emilia perez: i enjoyed the film and thought the acting was phenomenal across the board. I hope zoe saldana wins and i think she will. BUT i could see a world where the lgbtq community isnt crazy about how everything is handled. I really appreciated the story but without spoilers, there are some things that might rub trans people the wrong way. So that could potentially cause a backlash. I have already seen a trans critic who saw it give quite a negative review, though that is just one person. We shall see how it shakes out, just something to keep in mind. Again, i dont think any potential backlash will hurt saldana either way.

    • @dahomey2001
      @dahomey2001 11 днів тому +2

      it will have some criticism, but even if it has bad press
      it will make the film louder, and that means more people will see it
      I get the criticism, but some of the comments i've read mostly were talking about the portrayal of this trans woman and her tragic ending, or because the character hasn't been show to suffer transphobia (emilia is basically treated like an average woman, not mentioning her struggles at all)
      this is not an ordinary trans woman, it's an extraordinary one, that happens she commited a lot of mistakes in the past, BIG mistakes
      so of course it will not relate to many trans women in the real world

    • @Theodora7
      @Theodora7 11 днів тому +2

      @@dahomey2001 You could certainly be right. It's just that sometimes these films about specific communities need the strong support of those communities in order to succeed at the Oscars. And the lgbtq community in particular is sensitive to an ending like the one in this film. There just simply aren't enough movies about trans women for a tragic ending to feel satisfying to them. But again, it could still work out for the film as you say. I will say that I believe there is pretty much no chance that it actually wins best picture

    Surprised but really not surprised how dismissive they are of Nickel Boys. Perri is right, Ellis-Taylor has a GREAT shot at Supporting Actress (highly touted performance, she has good will with the Academy) and the film is likely to show in Picture and Adapted Screenplay, perhaps even Cinematography, Editing, and Director. Don't count out Nickel Boys this early in the season folks!

    • @davidfilmexpert
      @davidfilmexpert 11 днів тому

      I would count it out because the movie is going be a tough sell to voters because it's presented in the first person perspective and that makes it so hard to focus on the performances. I was at a screening at the New York Film Festival and three people from my row walked out of the theater and never came back.
